I am from Jilin Province. When I was four years old, I caught a very bad flu and had an abnormally high fever for several days. Because I didn't get medical treatment right away, I lost my hearing and the ability to speak. An innocent, lively, and healthy child was changed into one who was deaf and mute. Seeking a cure for my illness, my parents took me to many big hospitals to see different doctors and try various medicines, but it was of no use. Suffering and despair enveloped my family like dark clouds, and followed me on my life long journey.
One day in February 1997, I came across a copy of Illustration of Movements of Falun Buddha Fa in my aunt's home. I concentrated on reading it. When I finished reading, I asked my aunt to teach me the movements. My aunt then took me to see a fellow practitioner, and when that practitioner saw that I indeed wanted to learn, she started to teach me. I watched her and copied the movements, following her without any difficulties. Everybody was astonished. They didn't think that I could learn so quickly, and they were surprised that my movements were correct.
Amazingly, on the second day of practice, I felt a Falun rotating in my ears. When I watched the videos of Teacher's lectures, I felt that somebody grabbed something out of my ears and throat and threw it away. I knew this was Teacher purifying my body for me. I was truly touched and kept practicing even more diligently. I tried to listen to Teacher's lectures through earphones. No matter how little I could hear, I persisted and finished listening to them all.
On the forty-fifth day of practice, a miracle occurred. After being unable to speak or hear for twenty-two years, I could talk again! The first word I said was "Buddha," and the first phrase was "Teacher Li Hongzhi." Tears welled up in my eyes and brimmed in the eyes of my fellow practitioners. It was Teacher's mighty benevolence that enabled me to speak again. It was Falun Dafa that saved me from the world of silence. I truly believe in the boundless power of Falun Dafa. I have even higher esteem for our great Teacher, and I am more solid and resolute in my cultivation.
