Before I practised cultivation, I did everything from a personal perspective and what I thought about was how to avoid harming my own interests. Since I started to practice cultivation, I have been able to consider other people whenever I did things. Master Li said, “From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature” in Essentials for Further Advancement)
These last few years, I found that I did things and considered other people at the same time, but I fell into sentimentality. For instance, even though a person wasn’t suitable for a certain position, I arranged for him to take it. This was because, on the one hand, it would ensure his position in our company and fulfil my promise to him and, on the other hand, I wanted him to improve his skills with my selfless help. As a result, I unconsciously took on some work that should have been done by him. Although my “kind-heartedness” helped him, it increased my burden and affected the whole task. I accepted the results of his errors. This caused severe delays and unnecessary loss for our company. As far as he is concerned, he hasn’t realised this.
This kind of thing affected me very much. A Falun Dafa practitioner is required to be in accord, in word and deed, with the standard of Zhen Shan Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance). Should one tolerate and accommodate an incorrect state? I realized that at present human society’s moral standards have been ruined and what Dafa disciples are doing is assisting Master to rectify Fa. If human society is to rise again, it is necessary to change any incorrect states. Dafa disciples are doing things for Fa rectification in every aspect of human society. If one doesn’t do what should be done because one is afraid of harming certain people or an organisation, this is not compassion. If one dares not touch and change the dark side of society so as to maintain good relations with others, this is developing the soil for evil to exist, and it goes against the purpose of Fa rectification.
In addition, I deeply understood that everyone’s the fate is fixed. In fact it is another manifestation of attaching to sentimentality when one wants to change the fate of other people artificially.
