[PureInsight.org] Persisting in memorizing the Fa has been an essential part of my Fa study for years. So far, I have memorized Zhuan Falun twenty times, and I am currently on the sixth lecture of my twenty-first round. Persisting in memorizing the Fa helps improve my Xinxing through the process. This is because Fa memorization allows me to study in a state of tranquility, enabling my true self to genuinely absorb the Fa. It prevents me from merely going through the motions of studying and from failing to grasp the essence of the Fa. Instead, it allows me to study with the purpose of truly attaining the Fa.
My Early Days of the Fa Memorization
I started memorizing the Zhuan Falun in 2011. When I began my first round, I memorized it paragraph by paragraph, taking more than seven months to complete. After completing it, I felt that memorization brought me far greater benefits than simply reading. However, I also felt that it took too much time. Later, I switched to memorizing sentence by sentence, which allowed me to complete one round in about a month. Although I was memorizing sentence by sentence, it was still different from just reading—it required a calm and focused mind to retain the content. Later, I returned to memorizing paragraph by paragraph, and of course, it was much faster than my first attempt. However, as I became more familiar with the text, I sometimes found my mind wandering. Eventually, I switched to memorizing section by section, which was significantly more challenging. After several rounds, I realized that when I was very familiar with the text, my mind would still wander while memorizing occasionally.
Integrating Memorization with My Cultivation Practice
In 2023, while memorizing the Fa, I adopted a new approach: after memorizing a passage, I would close the book and reflect on how much I had truly applied Fa in my actions. If there were areas where I fell short, I would write them down. This way, I examined my shortcomings daily, and by April 2024, I had completed my twentieth round of memorization. In total, I recorded over a hundred instances where I had not fully met the standard or had not done well enough. In my daily life, I did my best to correct my words and actions that were not aligned with the Fa. As a result, my Xinxing improved rapidly. At the same time, by rectifying my behavior in accordance with the Fa, I was also reinforcing my memory of Master’s Fa, which proved to be highly effective.
A New Method of Fa Memorization
In May 2024, I adopted a new method: writing by memorization. I first wrote Hong Yin, Hong Yin II, and Hong Yin III (the poetry sections). During this process, I eliminated many human attachments and gained a deeper understanding of the principles of the Fa. For example, regarding Master’s poem Presiding Over Heaven and Earth in Hong Yin, which states:
“Heaven so vast, above heaven there is heaven
All have sun and moon, layer after layer, filling the universe
Earth so broad, there is heaven, there is earth
Together give birth to everything,
so many things, everywhere in heaven and earth”
In the past, I could only grasp its surface meaning. Now, I realize that if we were to enter a rock, wouldn’t that also be considered in heaven? Yes, it would. If we were to shrink into the microscopic layers of our own body, wouldn’t that also be in heaven? Yes, it would. Just like the person who followed Master and jumped into the small wine jar—wasn’t that also in heaven? Yes, it was. No matter which microscopic particle we enter, it is still a form of being in heaven.
Master mentioned in his lectures Teachings Given on Lantern Festival Day, 2003, "An apple in the heavens is so big that it might be even bigger than a planet. Is an apple from those low-level planets a particle inside of the big apple of high-level particles? The answer is yes." At my current level of understanding, this refers to heaven at different levels. The complexity of the universe is such that even beings within the same level, but in different spaces, may have different understanding of "heaven".
Recognizing the benefits of this approach, I began transcribing Zhuan Falun by memory. At first, the interference was intense—it took a long time to finish even a single passage. Although I had memorized the text well, I still made mistakes while writing, omitting words, misplacing characters, and even struggling with punctuation accuracy. For shorter sections, it was manageable; but for longer paragraphs, achieving complete accuracy was incredibly difficult. For example, when transcribing the final paragraph of the first lecture, I had to rewrite it eleven times. In the end, I only moved forward after allowing myself some leniency—because two punctuation marks were still incorrect. The process of improving my Xinxing was incredibly intense. Through this, I eliminated two attachments I had struggled with for years: impatience and carelessness in my actions. In my heart, I repeatedly thanked Master and made a vow to Him: I will refine myself into true gold through studying the Fa.
Through continuous study using various methods, I uncovered a critical issue I had overlooked for years: Dafa practitioners can’t study Fa without aligning themselves with the Fa standards. From this, I realized: Cultivation must never mix with other practices; A cultivator’s main consciousness must remain strong; Enduring hardship in practice is essential; One must never be deceived by false Buddhas; The Fa must be prioritized above all else; Practitioners who cultivate with the ability to see the other dimensions must not harbor a show-off mentality; A cultivator must not develop an attachment to joy. Failing to uphold these principles means failing to truly obtain the Fa in one’s studies. If that happens, one’s cultivation will be in vain, and ultimately, everything achieved in cultivation will be destroyed.
Conclusion
After years of the Fa memorization, I feel that I have gradually matured. I can clearly sense the awakening of my divine side, and I have also experienced rapid improvement in my Xinxing throughout the memorization process. This has allowed my cultivation path to become increasingly steady. Memorizing the Fa has been the most effective method for me to mature in my practice and has brought me the greatest rewards.
I am deeply grateful to our compassionate and great Master! On the path toward the Fa rectifying the human world, I will closely follow Master and the progress of Fa-rectification—until I finally return home with Master.
