The Return of the Bellflowers

A Dafa Practitioner in China

PureInsight | June 10, 2007

[PureInsight.org] I bought some
lavender bellflowers for our company on Monday. The blossoms were
gorgeous and they looked lovely in a vase.  The following day, I
found majority of them showing signs of withering and the leaves
turning yellow.  Normally, I would toss them right into the trash
can.  However, I suddenly remember the story about what the
daughter of a fellow practitioner did with some cherry blossoms. So I,
too, found a few pieces of paper and wrote, "beautiful blossoms that
last a long time." I put that on each cutting and also on the outside
of the vase.

I was waiting for a miracle to happen.

The same afternoon, the flowers on one cutting started to come back to
life. On Wednesday, the flowers on half the cuttings had regained their
vitality. They bloomed beautifully again!

Watching the lively flowers, I sighed.  A simple well-wishing
remark changed the fate of the flowers! How important our every notion
or action is! Perhaps, a sinful thought has ruined one or more lives
and a righteous thought has save many lives.  Now I have gained
more understanding of what Master said but, at the same time, I also
add more responsibility to myself. What a huge responsibility we all
have!

In our everyday living, if our every notion is filled with kindness,
sincerity, and tolerance, our every cell (our microscopic world) will
be immersed in the field of beauty and purity.  Our righteous and
kind thoughts will rectify whatever that is false, unkind, and
intolerant. Perhaps, this is another interpretation of what Master
said: “the Buddha-light illuminates everywhere and rectifies all
abnormalities."

Often I can feel that there is communication between me and my
environment, including flowers, trees, and other still lives. I can
feel their existences, not just visually but in their essences.
With my righteous thoughts, they will assimilate to truthfulness,
compassion, and forbearance.  With my righteous thoughts, anything
that does not comply with that principle will be eliminated.

I did not dare to spend a night by myself in a big room before, but now
I have no fear.  Since so many beings have assimilated to
truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, what should I fear?

As I continue to cultivate, my understandings of the meaning of life
and the existence of life change accordingly. Everyday people are truly
limited by their own ignorance. What a pity that they keep on stirring
up trouble for themselves!
