[PureInsight.org] I accompanied my family to Kending in southern Taiwan a few days ago. I am writing down what I felt during the trip.
As I looked at the ocean waves up close, I saw wave after wave, the new
taking over the old. As I looked afar at the sea, the sky and sea
merged into one, stretching to the horizon. It changed unpredictably.
Various shapes of white clouds shone on the clear and dark blue
seawater. It presented a magnificent sight. Men and women, old and
young, were all playing on the beach. They walked barefooted on the
untarnished white sand. It seemed like they were searching for
something or looking for the true meaning in life.
Human life is to bear hardship. Things happen to us that may be good or
bad. We must face them unperturbed, neither flinching nor running away.
We do things with all our hearts and might and let nature take its
course without imposing. "One's morality will be noble if one goes
without asking for anything." We will be contented when we don't ask
for any thing. When one is content with one's lot his mind will be
broad. The road will be broad when one's mind is broad.
The ocean receives rivers and holds everything. Tolerance, forgiveness,
and being conciliatory are indicative of self-restraint, cultivation,
and one's realm. As the sayings go: "Be stern with oneself and treat
others generously," "Bear once upon a time and one will be as boundless
as the sea and sky. Be tolerant of others and everything will be as
free as the wind and the clouds." Cultivators need to have the Fa in
their hearts and do things with sincerity and tolerance. Always
consider others ahead of oneself and tolerate others' inadequacies.
Cultivators discard all desires to attain a clear and clean mind, a
state free of intention. Hold onto the gods' vision to look at things.
Treat the people and things around us with benevolence and tolerance.
