[PureInsight.org] I went to the
park to practice today. It was overcast and I noticed the ground was
wet. Half way through my practice, it started to rain. I was
wearing something quite thin and when it is wet, it sticks to my body.
Well, what should I do? Should I continue and finish my exercises?
Actually I have discussed this with my husband, a
non-practitioner. He said that when we did the torture exhibit in
the rain, he admired us , but he felt it odd that we wanted to
practice in the rain.
I thought, "If I am a cultivator, I should complete my exercises and
not be afraid of the rain. But now it is the Fa-rectification period so
I should be more concerned about saving more sentient beings. If I
practice in the rain, it may prevent new people from coming into the
practice. As a rule, with these thoughts, I used to leave the
practice site.
Today, I suddenly realized that we are not an exercise group but a
cultivation group. We cannot leave like an exercise group
would whenever there is a little rain. We should persist and let
everyday people see us that we are different than other exercise
groups. They will also see what kind of cultivation group we are: we
can overcome not only the rain to do our exercises but also the brutal
persecution to walk on our path.
When I thought about this, I decided to finish my exercises and, at the
same time, I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all factors
that try to destroy Dafa, interfere the Fa-rectification, and prevent
the sentient beings from being saved. Soon the rain stopped. Before I
left, someone looked at me in a pleasant mood and asked, "Are you
practicing Falun Gong? It must be very good if you can practice
it so intensely."
I thought about what Master said, "So long as you, a Dafa
disciple, do things righteously, you will transform the environment
around you, and you will change people. You don't need to say that
much. My Dafa is taught to today's Dafa disciples, not to ordinary
people, and you shouldn't get overly concerned about what people think.
As long as you walk straightly your own cultivation path here in the
human world, everyone will see you in a positive light."(From "Teaching
the Fa in San Francisco 2005")
After I heard what my husband said, I started to be concerned what
everyday people thought. My husband was affected by my human
notions. Master wants us to do things righteously. I realize that
if we pay close attention to our daily behavior, the way we treat other
people, our environment, and every opportunity coming to us for
truth clarifying, we will be considered good people. In this way,
even when we do our exercises in the rain, they will also understand
and admire us for doing it. If everyday people have a bad impression
about us to begin with, then doing the exercises in the rain will bring
only more misunderstanding. Taking everyday people's thoughts into
consideration is not wrong, but as long as we seriously apply the
principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance to ourselves,
the everyday people will do nothing but admire us.
