There are often times that I cannot describe how I feel about cultivation.
Recently, I started studying the Fa and practicing more
intensively. Every day I read one lecture and practice one hour
and I make sure that they are properly done. In retrospect, when I look
at the way that I deal with people and my affairs, I know that there is
a lot to be desired and I make up my mind to do better.
Sometimes, I felt that I understood much more and, after a while, I no
longer felt that way. I did not feel that I made any
improvement. Every day on my way to work, I pass a corn field and
the crop is about a foot tall.
When I drive by today while thinking about cultivation, I find that the corn crop is about two feet high.
I believe that cultivation is like the corn crop. As long as you
solidly do everything well, you may not feel its growth, but it
actually does improve.
Lately, I realized that getting rid of attachments was really
hard. Sometimes I noticed its existence and I did well. After a
while, something happened, then I realized that my attachment had not
been thoroughly gotten rid of. In this way, I had to work harder
again.
Because there are a lot of bugs in the rice, I need to wash the
rice. I put the rice in the pot and add water. After mixing
it a couple of times, the bugs float up to the top. I pour the bugs
off. I repeat the procedure a few times and, every time, more bugs are
washed off. I keep that up until there are no bugs left.
I recognize that cultivation is like washing the bugs out of the
rice. Don't be afraid of the many attachments that we do have,
and don't worry that we cannot get rid of them. When we use the Fa as
our requirement continuously, day by day, we should see the difference.
