Since April 25, 1999, state monopolized newspapers in China have continually published articles aimed at defaming Falun Gong. At first I felt disgusted and simply ignored them. While spending the Chinese New Year back home, I observed my brother, a fellow Dafa disciple, skimming through each and every newspaper in the house, burning all newspapers with any articles defaming Dafa. I was inspired by my brother's reaction to these articles, and ever since then I began to burn all publications defaming Dafa.
Lately, during my study of Zhuan Falun, I came to realize the importance of completely destroying everything that defames Dafa in this dimension. Master Li has clearly stated in the section "Your Mind Must Be Right" in Chapter Six of Zhuan Falun, "Yet there is one situation in which my fashen will not help clean things up. We have a practitioner who one day saw my fashen come to his home. He was very excited, 'Teacher's fashen is here. Teacher, please come in.' My fashen said 'Your room is too messy, and there are too many things.' Then, it left. Usually, when there are many evil spirits in other dimensions, my fashen will clean them out for you. His room, however, was full of different bad qigong books. He came to understand it and cleaned it up by burning the books or selling them. My fashen then returned. As one of our practitioners was turning the pages of a qigong book, a big snake jumped out of it."
This is how I understood the aforementioned quotes. There exist things with evil intentions in phony qigong books. It then follows that the Dafa-defaming articles and other publications of a similar nature, which are in comparison worse than phony qigong books, must be the hiding places of those evil beings that have nowhere else to hide. Since Master Li does not eliminate the evil ones within this dimension, we must take responsibility for eliminating them. Master Li has offered the following solution to the phony qigong books in one's possession, "He came to understand it and cleaned it up by burning the books or selling them." (The section "Your Mind Must Be Right" in Chapter Six of Zhuan Falun) Similarly, I realized that these evil articles were direct attacks on Dafa and should not be left alone anywhere in this dimension. The only approach to handling these Dafa-defaming publications is to completely destroy them in this dimension. With this approach we will leave the evil no place to hide.
I also thought of the some words about sending forth righteous thoughts, "think, in their minds, of eradicating all of the evil within the three realms that damage Dafa, encompassing all the evil, leaving out none." (Send Forth Righteous Thoughts by Clearwisdom Editors) These words point out that we should "encompass all the evil, leaving out none" in our Fa-rectification work. However, I had previously only thought of eliminating the evil from other dimensions. It was only just recently that I realized the consequences of allowing publications that defame Dafa to exist in this dimension.
Master Li stated, in the section "Consecration" in Chapter Five of Zhuan Falun, "When they commit wrongdoing, the higher lives will kill them. When this is about to happen, they will run and get on the Buddha statues. Usually, a great-enlightened person does not casually interfere with the principles of everyday people. The higher a great enlightened person's level is, the less he or she would bother to interfere with the principles of everyday people, not even a bit. After all, this higher being will not suddenly shatter a Buddha statue with lightning, for he or she will not do such a thing. The higher being will thus leave them alone if they climb onto Buddha statues. They know if they are to be killed, so they will try to escape."
I came to a new understanding of this quotation. When we send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil in other dimensions, we should also include those unsaveable beings who team up with the evil. There are evil elements, which, in order to comply with the state of normal human society, need to be dealt with using conventional solutions from within ordinary human society, with some exceptions. In my opinion, we need to destroy all evil-natured publications in our environment in order to stop them from doing their evil work. Destroying evil publications is another line of Fa-rectification work. If we leave these evil publications alone, any sentient being that comes across them would be subject to the manipulation of the evil that resides within the publications. But we often overlook the consequences of leaving these publications untouched.
Nowadays, many news agencies, politicians, and scholars try to boost their businesses and careers by writing articles that poison society and defame Dafa, in order to comply with the chief manipulator in China's orders. We need to continue to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil that drives the persecution. At the same time, we need to expose the identities of those who participate with the evil, and their absurd work. We should also try to educate their friends and families by pointing out the evil in their work. This kind of endeavor is another approach in eliminating evil and in saving people from the evil. As for the news agencies, which often launch articles of an evil nature, we need to send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil that manipulates their operations. If we look at these evil publications from the perspective of a reader, then we need to protect our rights as readers. These articles have apparently interfered with our personal interests for they would do nothing but pollute our minds if we were to read them. We need to write to news agencies from the perspective of readers, to point out their wrongdoings, and cancel our subscriptions to bad newspapers in order to boycott their evil mechanism. Newspapers are for-profit businesses. Dafa disciples, as well as their families and friends represent a fairly large market. If they were to cancel their subscriptions to these newspapers, we would eliminate the evil from the root in this dimension. Then other newspapers would obviously think twice before they follow the same operation. Sentient beings, when their personal interests are compromised, will not make the slightest effort to follow Jiang's orders.
