For a long time, fellow practitioners and I had a problem. When we told others the truth, we always considered the target to be a human being. We did not clarify the truth to the person’s Spirit.
The Fa tells us that human beings have both a Main Spirit and Assistant Spirits. In addition to these spirits, we also have the notions from karma and thought karma. What lies within a human being skin is his true spirit. A human being can be controlled by demons like putting on a hat and clothes. Since the control by demons is not always obvious, we usually regard it as the human himself. Everyone has his demon nature and Buddha nature. When we speak to ordinary people at very high level, it is beyond their understanding. Karma and notions can then control them.
In October, a practitioner’s story was posted on the Internet. When she told her father the truth, she could clearly distinguish when karma was controlling him. If it was karma, she was silent and sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate it. If it was her father’s Main Spirit, she patiently told him the truth. The following is from another story posted on the Internet. When a disciple was beaten by a policeman, he suddenly saw that the evil policeman’s Spirit kneeling beside him, begging to be saved. If we regarded the ferocious image of this policeman as his true self, how sad his real Spirit would be!
I saw a practitioner clarifying the truth to another practitioner’s relative. When he started talking, he immediately spoke about Buddha’s coming to the human world to save people, the Fa rectifying the Cosmos, how people should treasure this chance and so on. Finally, the relative felt confused and asked to be left alone. In the past, I spoke to my uncle and a colleague like that. Finally, after listening patiently, they interrupted me, saying, “Do not talk any more!” Later, I searched inside myself and realized that when we speak beyond the human level, a person’s karma and acquired notions react negatively to what we say, not the person’s Spirit. Following this realization, I first send forth righteous thoughts to restrain a person’s karma and notions, and then tell the truth to his Spirit.
Previously, when I shared my experiences with my wife, I could not help speaking as a husband to his wife. I found that my wife would always find some trivial reason to stop me. Later, I changed my strategy and directly spoke to her Spirit. This totally changed our interaction. I realized that previously I was speaking to that part of her that is responsible for the emotional ties between a husband and a wife, and the effect was not helpful. The same result occurred during similar interactions between brothers, sisters, friends and colleagues.
When practitioners point out the existing problems and shortcomings to each other, similar things can happen. Practitioners have their cultivated sides and their human sides. We have many attachments. Master leaves us the human side in order to maintain the cultivation environment. When a practitioner had a certain strong attachment, other practitioner always said, “Why did she behave like that?” Instead, we should say, “Why did her attachment behave like that?” For example, in the former case it was said, “She is very arrogant and always feels superior to others.” But in the latter case one would say, “The arrogance attachment that she has is very strong and it acts superior to others.” The former lumps into a single person the cultivated side and the side with attachments. The latter distinguishes the two. That was why she had a hard time accepting it when others pointed out her problems in the former manner. It should be easy for her to accept the latter clarification.
