Some Thoughts on the Relationship Between Dafa Work and Cultivation

A Dafa Disciple

PureInsight | December 3, 2001

When trying to clarify the truth to everyday people, we shouldn’t pay too much attention to how they might feel. Let’s just do things as they truly are and in accordance with the standards of the Fa, not according to the tastes of everyday people. We should never change anything just because everyday people may dislike it. We shouldn’t have fears: fear that others will think we have some political tendency or that others cannot understand. When we’re working, either on the websites or on some other media, the most important thing is that our goal is to tell people what’s true, to remove from their minds those wrong beliefs, and to offer them an opportunity to choose their future. This doesn’t mean that we can ignore our methods. It simply means that we cannot give up what we should do just as a trade off for everyday people who cannot understand. We must call upon our wisdom in this.
Actually, as cultivators, we are different from everyday people and have capabilities that we may not be aware of. Because we’re working for Fa rectification, we may want to send forth righteous thoughts and exert those capabilities we already possess. Perhaps we then are able to do many things within a short time, being able to perform beyond our current dimension. One must believe in one’s capabilities. If one feels he or she is incapable, this creates a barrier for oneself. We should let everyday people know that we’re simply telling the truth. We should disregard whether others agree or disagree as long as it is pursuant to the principles of the Fa. What can everyday people’s experience and rules be worth to enlightened beings? Some of us disciples didn’t have the prerequisite experience, yet we are now running newspapers, radio and television stations. This is because we’re different. Let’s not think less of ourselves than what we truly are by muddling us up into everyday people. “Natural attainment without pursuit.” Let’s just do things by following Master’s requirements. That’s it. It’s simple when viewed as simple, difficult when viewed as difficult. This is cultivation.
We may run into difficulties because we’re still cultivating and still have things to be removed. Naturally we’ll come upon problems of various kinds. As long as we treat them with the heart of a cultivator, we’re able to handle them well. In everything we do, we must remove those deviated things entangled in our thoughts, language and behavior.
Of course, it’s to our advantage to hear others share their thoughts and experiences because we still exist among everyday people. Nevertheless, at all times we should be aware that we are cultivators, not doers.
Personally, I feel the words from everyday people’s mouths sometimes work as an enlightening hint, from which I become clearer. We must stay righteous and on our paths.
The above is a tiny experience to share and to stimulate further discussions from everyone else.
