Master has repeatedly reminded us to “study the Fa with a calm mind,” as stated in the article “Towards Consummation.” Master introduced this principle a long time ago in Zhuan Falun by stating “Different levels have different Fa.” When we cannot reach a calm mind in studying the Fa, we may well clean our minds first and then study the Fa. The feelings that occur while learning the Fa and deeper understandings of the Fa are largely accomplished with a tranquil mind. The ability to calm our mind is a reflection of our “ding.” As stated in Zhuan Falun, “the depth of ding indicates one’s level.” It is also alluded to in “Learning the Fa” in Essentials for Further Advancement, “one should gain things naturally without pursuing them.”
In the path of cultivation, we are constantly ascending in our levels and in turn our status is always changing. If we over emphasize a particular attainment status while reading the Fa, it is also an attachment. When we are not attached to any level, any understanding and any attainment status, different levels of the Fa will naturally arise before us as we reach different levels of cultivation.
