In the article “Beyond the limits of Forbearance” Teacher says it that “Ren is tolerance for the purpose of upholding the truth; and is benevolence toward and salvation of beings who still have righteous thoughts.” In the article “What is Ren?” he says Ren is the key to improving ones xinxing. From this I have learned that tolerance is the celestial quality that determines how truthful, and compassionate a being is. For example, if a being is intolerant, that being will act deceitfully, and viciously, for the simple reason that it does not know how to be anything else. However, if a being can be tolerant in a tribulation, he or she will naturally know how to be truthful and compassionate, for they become an inherent expression of their being. However difficult a test or tribulation a cultivator can tolerate, that is however much their xinxing yardstick can rise.
Another enlightenment that I have expanded on is related to Teachers description of the existence of the still or lifeless water. It seems that this still water is a manifestation of Ren, while a manifestation of the two primordial substances could be Zhen and Shan. The way I would describe my understanding is similar to the Taiji symbol of the Tao school. With Zhen, and Shan in the positions of yin and yang and Ren is the circle that binds them.
With regards to an individual, if he or she does not posses true Ren, in a manner of speaking their being has lost the binding force of its existence. What awaits it is rapid degeneration and eventual destruction. Like the old forces that are so extremely jealous of us Dafa cultivators, they view it as being unfair that we can in such a short period of time; reach a level that may have taken them billions of years to reach. They do not possess true Ren, therefore the qualities of Zhen, and Shan they have enlightened to are false as well. Therefore, if they do not, or cannot conform to the true Fa of the cosmos they will fade like morning mist in the light of the sun.
These are only my thoughts at my current level of cultivation and I welcome any compassionate critique.
