Thoughts on Darwin';s Theory of Evolution

A Dafa Disciple

There is no real scientific basis for Darwin's theory of evolution. After I started cultivation, I thought that I had eliminated my notions in this regard since I had already come to know that the theory that human beings descended from monkeys is wrong. In addition, I recently discovered through my own experience n how Darwin's theory of evolution is destroying the fundamental nature of the humankind.

The essence of Darwin's theory of evolution is survival of the fittest and elimination of the weakest. This “survival of the fittest” means that “hapless” lives should be eliminated through competition. This concept had been deeply imprinted on my mind. Starting from the time that I first became an adolescent, it seemed that I had always belonged to the group of “outstanding people.” I never needed much help from others. I always somehow looked down upon those people who were not “outstanding” enough. I thought that they got what they deserved, since they had nobody but themselves to blame for being so stupid. More importantly, I had the notion that made me think that I didn't have any obligation to help them because it should just be this way—survival of the fittest.

Recently, some local practitioners and I were making plans to attend the Fa conference in Florida. Most of the young practitioners were too busy to go, and thus the majority of those who signed up were old ladies. Naturally, none of them could drive, and so they needed to be taken care of. Because only a few practitioners can drive, we didn't plan to rent cars together. I made the appropriate travel arrangements for several young practitioners and myself very early on. When an assistant later called me and asked if we could change the sitting arrangements so there would be one or two drivers in each car with a group of old ladies, I said, “No. It is impossible for one or two drivers to drive 15-16 hours! The old ladies can take the long distance greyhound bus. They want convenience and yet to save money at the same time. How could things be so easy?” The assistant said, 'But they really have difficulty traveling, and after all, we practitioners are one body!'

His words shook me. It had never occurred to me that those old ladies and I are one body. I read Master’s articles everyday, but it seems that I did not make the connection at all. I have not cultivated things that should have been cultivated. Other than selfishness, I found that my distorted notion of 'survival of the fittest' had also been a big factor in my lack of compassion. From this incident, I realized that the concept of 'survival of the fittest' has undoubtedly been a major factor in the indifferent attitude of today’s people. This is similar to the Chinese saying, 'The victor is the king, the loser is the bandit.” With this kind of reasoning as justification, it is OK for people to harm each other and “eliminate” each other.

This personal encounter really made me realize how science is destroying the fundamental nature of the humankind from its root. It provides a pompous excuse for unleashing one’s demon nature. Actually, Darwin's theory of so-called 'survival of the fittest' does not exist. Only by cultivating Falun Dafa can one thoroughly understand the origin of man and the real principle of elimination in the universe.
