[PureInsight.org] May 13 is a special day for Falun Gong practitioners worldwide. Starting with year 2000, Falun Gong practitioners around the world have been celebrating May 13 as the "World Falun Dafa Day" with their friends, families and people in their areas. For the past six years since Jiang Zemin and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started openly persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Falun Gong and Falun Gong practitioners have never given in to the terror. Instead, Falun Gong continues to spread around the world. To this day, people from 78 different countries have started practicing Falun Gong and the number of Falun Gong practitioners worldwide continues to rise. Since the summer of 2004, Falun Gong practitioners from around the world have come to Manhattan at different times to enact some of the tortures used on Falun Gong practitioners in order to raise people's awareness of China's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and to urge the CCP to stop the persecution. Because of the persistent effort, millions of people in New York have learned the truth about Falun Gong.
On Saturday, May 14, 2005, Falun Gong practitioners in New York celebrated "World Falun Dafa Day" at Washington Square. Tian Jiao Art Performance Group and Ying Tang Art Performance Group brought people who came to Washington Square beautiful dances, vocal solos, Chinese traditional waist drum and many other performances. They also demonstrated Falun Gong exercises and taught people how to practice the Falun Gong exercises on the spot.
