[PureInsight.org] On May 10, 2005 a large business corporation in the Xinzhu Industrial Park in Xinzhu, Taoyuan, Taiwan held a shareholders' meeting. Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners cooperated with each other and successfully clarified the truth about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) at the shareholders' meeting. I would like to share some of my cultivation experiences related to this meeting.
At first I didn't think of taking the opportunity of the shareholders' meeting to clarify the truth about the CCP. On May 7, a fellow practitioner suggested that we make a speech as a shareholder of the corporation at the shareholders' meeting to raise the corporation's management's attention on the Epoch Times' "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" and the global trend of withdrawing from the CCP and all of its affiliated organizations. The fellow practitioner also suggested that we take the opportunity to talk about the impact of the book, "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party," including the growing global trend of quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations. We might also take the opportunity to present the senior management of the corporation a copy of the book. I decided right away that I could write a speech and have a fellow practitioner read the speech at the shareholders' meeting. A prepared script at hand will help the fellow practitioner relieve his/her jitters and overcome the stage flight. Thus I wrote a speech and shared it with fellow practitioners for review and feedback.
On May 8, two days before the shareholders' meeting, I shared some relevant information with fellow practitioners to help the assigned practitioner prepare for the meeting. Then suddenly I realized that this shareholders' meeting was a very important opportunity for us to clarify the truth to this corporation. For a very long time, fellow practitioners have tried to clarify the truth to the management level of this corporation in vain. This must be an opportunity that Teacher has arranged for us, and we must not let it slip through.
On the other hand, I was somewhat hesitating on attending this shareholders' meeting. I have to coordinate a group Fa study of a team who clarifies the truth to the Chinese people via telephone on the same day. Especially when there are so many fellow Falun Gong practitioners suffering from severe persecution in China, we must do a good job in facilitating the telephone team's group Fa study and the calling work. But a Falun Gong Volunteer Assistant told me, "You must attend the shareholders' meeting and you must read the speech. You have attained a sufficient understanding of the important of this opportunity, as well as the significance of "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party," so you must be the chosen one for this opportunity to clarify the truth. The group Fa study of the telephone group will go on well without you." I finally accepted what I had to do, so I told the fellow practitioner coordinating the truth-clarification work for this shareholders' meeting that I had decided to make the speech, but I hoped to have a fellow practitioner make a speech as well so that we could complement each other.
On May 9, one day before the shareholders' meeting, we sent out a notice calling for help with making photocopies of the truth-clarification materials, distributing truth-clarification materials, videotaping the shareholders' meeting, audio-recording the meeting and photographing the meeting. When these roles were filled, I remembered that I did not have any stock, let alone stock of this corporation. I also found out that even if a fellow practitioner that has this company's stocks would write a letter to authorize me to make a speech for him/her, we have passed the deadline of making such authorizations. I started to worry that I might not be able to make a speech after all, but the Volunteer Assistant told me, "We are supposed to clarify the truth at the shareholders' meeting. Teacher said, 'The old forces don't dare to oppose our clarifying the truth or saving sentient beings. What's key is to not let them take advantage of the gaps in your state of mind when you do things.'" (From "Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston")
Next a fellow practitioner working for this corporation sent an email telling us that he had already asked a colleague at the stock department to help us get the authorization through. I thought to myself, "I am determined to clarify the truth on stage. I must not let go of the opportunity that Teacher has arranged for us."
In the afternoon, I got a call from a fellow practitioner coordinating a forum on "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" at a Taiwanese military dependents' community. She asked me to revise a flyer I had written and fax it to a Legislative Representative's office. At fist I was disinclined to oblige her request because I had enough on my plate. There were two speeches I needed to finish right away for the next day's shareholders meeting because a fellow practitioner was coming over to pick them up that evening. But I told myself immediately, "Since I wrote the flyer, it will take the least time if I am the one to revise it. If I let go of my selfishness, I am confident that Teacher will give me the inspiration and the wisdom to complete the three writing tasks today." When I started to conduct myself like a cultivator, I managed to revise the flyer and fax it to the Legislative Representative's office. I also managed to the scripts of the two speeches for the next day in time.
At the time I had very strong righteous thoughts. I knew we were going to rectify the field of the shareholders' meeting and I was confident that I would clarify the truth well. However, there are always tests on the path of our cultivation practice. They are designed to validate whether we can truly do what we know we must do.
A fellow practitioner saw the script of my speech and offered many valuable suggestions. But there is one thing I did not agree with. He told me that I shouldn't tell them any facts about the CCP's persecution of everyday farmers in China when they tried to petition to the Appeals Office in Beijing about their plight and injustices against them because it does not sound like the type of issue a shareholder would bring up. He also told me that shareholders could not care less about the miseries of Chinese farmers because all they care about is money. He was worried that they might terminate my speech if they find the content of my speech to be irrelevant to the shareholders' meeting. If that should happen, this opportunity would be wasted.
I knew he must have meant well. I also knew that, according to conventional thinking, the content of my speech was not directly related to the shareholders' meeting. However, I am a Falun Gong practitioner and I am not doing an everyday person's work. If I fail to tell them that the CCP is still suppressing and killing its people only to sustain its rule, how can I illustrate to the everyday people that the CCP has never changed its murderous nature? As a Falun Gong practitioner, I must guide everyday people to the truth, and I must not allow the conventional thinking stop me from clarifying the truth.
However, I started to be unsure about my opinion when I received his objection in email for the second time. I started to have doubts about the content of my speech and wonder if I should remove the facts of about the CCP's terrorizing its own people from my speech. I underwent a painful struggle with my heart, but finally I decided that I must believe in Teacher. Teacher asked us to clarify the truth, so I must believe that I have the ability to do so. I must clarify the truth clearly at the shareholders' meeting.

I have no fear.
Outside the building of the shareholders' meeting, fellow practitioners distributed nearly 200 copies of the truth-clarification materials. Six fellow practitioners and I entered the conference room together with strong righteous thoughts. Four of us each submitted a request to make a speech. It was a very long meeting but we kept sending righteous thoughts during the entire meeting to rectify the field. We were unfamiliar with the procedure of the shareholders' meeting, so we kept waiting for the host to announce it when it's our turn to make a speech. We did not realize that we were not allowed to make speeches at the shareholders' meeting. The only time we were allowed to present our views is when the host opened the floor to the audience. Then a committee from the corporation will answer questions from the shareholders, but it will not have any shareholder as a speaker. The Q&A session wouldn't do for us. I decided that we must ask for an opportunity to speak. "I must get an opportunity to make a speech," I thought. "I have come here to clarify the truth about the CCP, and that's what I will do."
I got up, walked to the microphone and raised my hand. "Excuse me, I have submitted a request to make a speech. I have been authorized to speak for my client, shareholder No. XXXX. I have been asked to read a speech on her behalf and I will finish my speech in five minutes according to the regulations of this shareholders' meeting."
I started reading my speech. I was feeling a little nervous, but I tried to keep righteous thoughts and tried speaking in loud, clear voice. Eventually I felt my entire body filled with a righteous spirit. At the end of the speech, I showed the books, "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" and Ms. He Qinglian's China's Descent into a Quagmire, that I had brought, and told the audience that I would like to give the CEO of the company, Mr. Chang, as well as other senior managers, a copy of these two books. I also told the audience that some of them had taken some materials from outside the building and these materials included the content of my speech.
When I returned to my seat, a fellow practitioner told me that the audience, including the CEO and the senior managers of the corporation, were all ears during my speech. I felt Teacher's enormous compassion. After we left the shareholders' meeting, I saw that fellow practitioners who were distributing truth-clarification materials had stayed throughout the long meeting to send forth righteous thoughts for us. I was deeply touched. Once again I witnessed our power when we coordinated with each other.
Thank you, Teacher! Thank you, fellow practitioners.
Two Small Episodes:
While I was reading my speech at the podium, one of the shareholders kept interrupting me. It was as if he was trying to sabotage the shareholders' meeting. To our surprise, after my speech, he repeatedly asked the corporation not to make any investment in China. "Otherwise," he said. "Your investments and assets might disappear overnight like the tsunami in Southeast Asia." It struck me to know that Teacher had arranged an everyday man to help the management of the corporation make a wise choice. Later when he exchanged business cards with me, I found that he was the owner of a hotel in a tourist area in Taiwan.
I also met a reporter from Taiwan's Commercial Times newspaper. He told me that he had seen The Epoch Times' public activity when he went on a business trip to London and that he approves of The Epoch Times' objective and motto. He also asked me, "Are you planning to attend another business corporation's shareholders' meeting?" Next he told me something interesting. "This year's shareholders' meeting is exceptionally peaceful without any crazy shareholder making a scene or sabotaging the meeting." It was not until then I realized our compassionate Teacher has already rectified the field for us in advance!
Finally, I would like to share the following passage of the Fa with fellow practitioners to encourage our truth-clarification work.
Teacher said, "Having gotten to where they are today, Dafa disciples have won the admiration of beings at all levels, high and low, and the evil beings are scared, terrified. Right now the evil beings are basically following, in an irrational way, the factors originally arranged by the old forces; they are being used and are doing things that interfere with the Fa-rectification. Some evil beings get up and flee the moment they are in proximity to Dafa disciples. Some tremble with fear, hesitant, while they do bad things now. So Dafa disciples should not be afraid, and they should handle everything in an upright and dignified way. It is the evil beings that are scared."
