[PureInsight.org] At the end of 2002, I left China and went to Europe on a business trip with a colleague. After finishing our work, I was wondering whether I should return to China because of Jiang Zemin's persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China. I talked to my boss about my concern for my safety and asked to take a vacation. He agreed. Because I have quite a few friends in Germany, I decided to travel to Germany first. I met a lot of people during the trip who clearly have predestined relationships with Falun Gong. During my encounters with them, I witnessed Teacher's immense grace.
My colleague and I first went to stay with at a friend named Ying in Germany. Coincidentally, Ying and I share the same birthday. Ying married a German and they have a ten-month-old child. Ying also has a 15-year-old son that she had adopted in China. He had just moved from China to Germany and was studying in a middle school in Germany. Ying and her husband were very friendly and treated us very well. The subject of Falun Gong came up during our conversation so I briefly clarified the truth about it by talking about my personal experience with practicing Falun Gong. Ying told me that there were people practicing Falun Gong in her city and that they were mostly Germans. Ying's adopted son was feeling a little neglected because of his baby brother. He complained a lot to me. While I tried to help him overcome his jealousy, I introduced Falun Gong to him and gave him a few pointers on how to conduct himself according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. He said he wanted to learn Falun Gong if he had a chance. Ying's ten-month-old son was particularly entertaining. As soon as he saw me, he kept staring at me and stopped crying and fussing right away. Sometimes, he would crawl to my feet and asked me to pick him up and hold him in my arms.
After staying two nights at Ying's home, I traveled to Würzburg to visit my friends there. That evening I had a dinner with three Germans at a Chinese restaurant. The owner of the restaurant is originally from Guangdong Province, China and had been living in Germany for over a decade. He learned that I came from China, so he suddenly asked me after we ordered our meals, "May I ask you a question?" "Sure," I said. "What do you think about Falun Gong?" My German friends and I burst into laughter simultaneously because they all knew I practiced Falun Gong. I told the owner that I practiced Falun Gong and shared with him my own story of practicing Falun Gong. The owner did not approve of the persecution against Falun Gong, but he did not believe Falun Gong was as good as Falun Gong practitioners' testimonies in the flyers they distributed said. I said to the owner, "It is like a widely acclaimed book. You won't know why it is well received until you read it. You should read the book for yourself." After chatting with the owner for half an hour, I ended the conversation out of politeness because my German friends could not join our Chinese conversation. Before I ended the conversation, I suggested the owner find a copy of Zhuan Falun and make his own judgment.
On the following day, a friend took me to his home in southern Germany. His mother is a kindhearted Catholic. Because I don't speak German and his mother does not speak English, we had to communicate with each other through her son's translation. Because of the language barrier, I gave up on the idea of introducing Falun Gong to her. Surprisingly, the night before I left, she suddenly said to me, "Although I am a Catholic, I have some unanswered questions and wish to know other spiritual beliefs. I heard that you are cultivating in Falun Gong and I am very interested to know what Falun Gong is." I was very surprised, but I knew right away it was Teacher's compassionate arrangement. Thanks to her son's translation, I introduced Falun Gong to her and shared with her my story of cultivation practice. Then I told her that she could find out more about Falun Gong by visiting Falun Gong's (or Falun Dafa) official website in German. She looked very happy when I told her about Falun Gong.
On the fifth day, I visited a friend at her home in Cologne. Her mother is a very friendly person. On the second night, she asked me to teach her Falun Gong, so I taught her the first exercise, Buddha Showing a Thousand Hands. She told me that she could see the energy flow circulating in her arms while she was doing the first exercise. Later I learned that she is a professional masseuse. Her Celestial Eye is probably open. She wanted to continue practicing Falun Gong, but she was reluctant to give up her profession. Because she had been suffering from back pain, I briefly explained the health damage from treating patients by giving massages. I also encouraged her to practice Falun Gong and study Falun Gong's books. It was Christmas at the time. She invited German friends over for dinner. I taught two girls, aged 13 and 14, Falun Gong's sitting meditation after dinner. One of the girls told me that she had been sitting in the Full Lotus position (a standard meditation position sitting flat on the ground with both legs bent and the feet on top of the opposite thighs) since she was little. Her family did not understand why she would do that without anyone teaching her to do so, but I knew it was because of her predestined relationship with Falun Gong.
That night I had a dream in which I was dressed like an ancient German king slowly descending from the sky while numerous people looked up at me in admiration.
I realized my predestined relationship with Germany, and I decided to go back to China and continue my truth-clarification work there.
