While I was clarifying the truth to a young man on a metro bus, he said to me, “I have read Zhuan Falun. There is really nothing wrong with it. But as citizens, we should think from the big picture and obey the decisions of the government – and thus stop practicing.” I suddenly remembered that a lot of people had the same opinion, such as my college classmate who is now a secretary for a governor, the heads of detention centers, my elder sister, my supervisors in my company, and my co-workers. All of them had said similar things to me. Moreover, the wife of the policeman who sent me into a detention center voluntarily gave up cultivation due to the influence of this concept.
In the first place, “thinking from the big picture”, means to think from the perspective of humankind’s happiness and for the future of nation’s people. It is a noble act encompassing the idea of sacrificing oneself for others and thinking about others’ well being before your own. “Thinking from the big picture” is not unconditional obedience to commands from the higher ranks. It is not following an evil government without distinguishing right from wrong. It is not tolerating unrestrained evil and being indifferent to the killing of innocent people, and it is definitely not giving up truth and justice! Only when people distinguish between right and wrong, defend the truth, and protect justice at critical moments, can they help humankind develop in a good way and be responsible for the future of mankind, nations and people. This is truly “thinking from the big picture.” Dafa disciples are responsible for all righteous factors and are solid like diamonds when facing the evil. These are the greatest manifestations of “thinking from the big picture.” Master assumes responsibilities for the future of the whole universe and all sentient beings: this is truly the greatest, “thinking from the big picture.”
