In the old forces' so-called test of Dafa, their deviation from the fundamental characteristics of the universe is present everywhere. In this evil arrangement, their deeply hidden mentality of taking advantage of Fa-rectification for self-protection has been exposed.
In "Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Fa Conference" from Guiding the Voyage, Master said, "This has been a concentrated manifestation of all the beings' performances at different levels after their degeneration. In other words, all the degeneration of beings, and all the bad states beings can display during the Fa-rectification period, manifest in a concentrated way in the entire system of the old forces that affects the Fa-rectification. It was arranged that many beings--layers upon layers of them--would not be allowed to participate in the Fa-rectification so as to prevent their arrangement from being disrupted."
As far as the old forces go, they also know the magnificence of taking part in the Fa-rectification, but they treat the holy Fa-rectification as a good opportunity to pursue their self-interest. They wish to build up their mighty virtue through arranging the Fa-rectification. Why don't they want other beings to participate? This is the same as narrow-minded peoples' attitude once they know they can gain benefits from something, as they always think that the fewer the people, the better. This is because they worry about other people sharing the benefits with them. What is the difference between this and the behaviour of those everyday people who play mental games with each other as they strive for power and wealth? "During Fa-rectification, none of the beings could be omitted from the process. They felt that since they picked me, it was the same as them saving me, and that they had made great contributions" (The North America Lecture Tour). I understood that Master clearly pointed out their idea of making use of Fa-rectification.
In The North America Lecture Tour, Master said, "These old forces saw that the cosmos would finish its last step under the Fa principles of 'creation, stasis, degeneration and destruction.' In order to save themselves, they started to plan this thing during a remotely distant period of time. As a matter of fact, everything that the old forces have done is out of the natural instinct of beings in the cosmos to try to save themselves, but nothing works. Every time in the past when the colossal firmament was about to end, all sentient beings at that time were doing things this way. But the result was that the pace of disintegration actually sped up."
The old forces know that only Master can rescue the whole universe and prevent it from reaching the step of destruction. From the surface, in the old forces' arrangements, they consider everything from the standpoint of the safety of the future universe. In fact, these arrangements are coming from their consideration for their own safety. Because they think that if practitioners can't get rid of their attachments, the future of this universe won't be safe. To be more exact, they can't guarantee their own safety. But they try all means to harm practitioners and to beat them to disability or even to death. Can this really make practitioners get rid of their attachments? Can it really achieve their goals? No, it can't.
It is just like what Master mentioned in "Teaching the Fa at the Great Lakes Fa Conference in North America" from Guiding the Voyage, "In order to have the students meet the standards--to meet their requirements--they used those evil beings to brutally beat students. When they exhausted the most vicious means and still couldn't achieve their goal, they became flustered and exasperated, and went against our students even more viciously. In the end, even though they couldn't achieve their goal, they said that they'd tried their best. How evil!"
It can be seen from their behaviour that all kinds of their arrangements could be intended to avoid the risk of no return after coming down to the Three Realms, to assure their safety, and to build up their so-called virtue by arranging the Fa-rectification. Using words of everyday people, "they can achieve several goals with one action." How good are these things gaining both fame and self-interest! But on the surface, they use the excuse of taking part in Fa-rectification and consideration for the future sentient beings in the universe to cover their deeply hidden selfishness.
The evil test that was arranged by the old forces made countless sentient beings in the universe lose their opportunity of having everything settled with benevolent solutions. Countless beings will be eliminated because they can't position themselves well in their relationship with Dafa. It can be seen from the manifestation of their xinxing that they have deviated far from the standard of the characteristic of the universe. If they can't awaken in a timely manner, then what is waiting for them will be complete destruction.
