We are one body in the Fa. Just as the human body has many parts, both internal and external, all of us as particles of the Fa must work in unison to complete Fa-rectification. Each of us is important and we all perform our own important function toward the efficient performance of Fa-rectification. Master Li said we must understand our mission:
“Consummation is the conclusion of a Dafa disciple’s cultivation, while Fa-rectification is a Dafa disciple’s mission. For a Dafa disciple, Consummation is only a matter of the time of his return, whereas Fa-rectification is to be left for the future. The future of the cosmos that beings at different levels have seen actually does not exist and is an illusion. At present, humankind’s every day is arranged according to Dafa’s needs; Dafa disciples’ performance in the human world is to be left for history. In different historic times of the future, if in the cosmos damage to Dafa occurs or when beings perform differently, how Dafa will rectify the Fa and make everything perfect and indestructible is extremely important. Everything Dafa disciples are doing at present is creating the future, and right now everything in the Three Realms exists for Dafa. When Dafa has consummated everything amidst the tribulation, all of the evil that persecutes Dafa will be finished.” (“What Are Supernormal Abilities?”)
Perhaps at the dawn of our residence on earth we made a vow to accomplish something when Fa-rectification arrived. Now is the time to fulfil our vow:
“Once a Dafa disciple has done what he shouldn't do, if he isn't able to truly realize its severity and redeem the losses he has brought to Dafa, everything and that millions upon millions of years' wait will be fulfilled according to the vows made before history.” (“Dafa is Indestructible”)
“Everything that's the most magnificent and the most wonderful is developed in the process of your validating Dafa. Your vows will become testaments in your future.” (“Fa-rectification Period Dafa Disciples”)
Whatever our mission, it is critical that we do our part whether we are seen or not seen by others. The heart is an internal organ that is completely necessary for the health of the whole body. It transports the body’s lifeblood to every single cell. The toe cannot say, “I don’t know what the heart is doing so I don’t want to work with it and will refuse to accept the blood it is sending to me.” That sentiment is ridiculous and inconceivable. Nor can the liver say, “I don’t like what the left hand did yesterday, so I want to work with another left hand.” The liver has its job to do within the body and the hand has another. The hand’s capabilities may be more diverse and easy to see, but can you imagine what would happen if there was no liver? Just because an organ or body part is not visible does not diminish its importance.
I was enlightened to the importance of working as one when I learned that some practitioners were frustrated and angry with a very active practitioner because he did not follow through with projects. These practitioners said he would give directives to others that seemed to overlap and then moved on to other projects without completing any. We cannot judge what others do; we must only fulfill our own mission. We don’t always know the whole story behind a practitioner’s actions. In fact, that practitioner was coordinating activities from all over the world and ensuring that communication channels were open, especially to practitioners in China.
Some of us may envy the “brains” -- those who direct activities in Fa-rectification. They get the attention; everyone wants to confer with them. Can you imagine what a human being would look like with only a brain? It would not be a human body. Try to imagine a brain walking or talking; the image is pretty silly. Although the brain directs all the body’s activities, it simply cannot operate on its own. SciFi movies have been made about this and they are just that: science fiction. Some practitioners may be jealous of the “brain” in Fa-rectification activities, but the brain has no role without the rest of us doing our part.
Before history, we each promised Master that we would complete some task within Fa rectification. That task is presented to us within our daily activities and it is our job to become enlightened to it.
“So, as Dafa disciples, you have been entrusted with a great historic mission. This is different, then, from strictly self-cultivation. You need to safeguard the Fa, you need to validate the Fa, and when the Fa is persecuted you expose the evil and do better embodying Dafa--this is what you should do.” (“Teaching the Fa at the 2001 Canada Falun Dafa Cultivation Experience Sharing Conference”)
Each and every part of the human body carries out a vital purpose. The pancreas, although not given much attention, handles critical functions within the human body. Pancreatic cancer kills and so we know the body cannot function without it. Though hidden from view it does its work to keep the body in top condition.
The feet do their work at the bottom of the human body. They would not work so well if they demanded to be placed at the neck where everyone could see how well they perform. To move us from place to place, we give our feet good shoes and protect them from the cold and sharp objects. We know how important it is to safeguard our feet because they are at the service of the entire body - the body would be immobilized without good working feet.
We know that when foreign objects attack the cells in one part of the body, other cells go to their defense. White blood cells rush to stop the bleeding and fight infection. The heart beats faster. The liver purifies the infected blood. The whole body works to make itself whole and healthy again. Practitioners in China have been attacked and persecuted and the rest of us must go to their defense, for we are members of the same Fa body.
“You are one body, just like Master's gong--of course you and gong aren't the same thing, I'm just giving an example. It's just like my gong, which does different things at the same time--some of it is continuously charging through the immense cosmos with tremendous force into the microcosm, toward what's higher and broader; the force is so massive and the speed is so fast, transcending all times as it rectifies the colossal firmament. Some of it, after this charging, eliminates the sinful karma of the beings at different levels and balances all the interwoven relationships among beings at different levels. Some of it assimilates beings, and some of it is repositioning beings. It's doing different things even at the beings' most microscopic levels, at every level. Some of it does things in low dimensions, some of it protects the students, and some of it is clearing out the evil--every facet of my gong is doing these things. In other words, one body doesn't necessarily do one thing. (“Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference”)
“Some of our students outside of China wonder: ‘Being overseas, we don't suffer as much as the students in China do. Does this mean that we won't be as good as the students in China when we reach Consummation?’ That isn't so. This is because students both inside and outside of China are one body. When this thing takes place, there have to be some persons who do this and some who do that. Since it's a test aimed at the Fa, no matter where you are or what you're doing, you are improving yourself in the midst of the things you're supposed to do. There are reasons behind what everyone does. There's no difference in terms of the realm of Consummation and the progress towards Consummation--wherever you're supposed to reach Consummation, you're sure to go there.
“Everything that's been done -- whether it's your going to Tiananmen, your clarifying the truth to people in other environments, or your spreading the Fa and exposing the truth of the evil outside of China -- it's all extraordinary, because you are one body.” (Master Li Hongzhi’s Lecture at the Great Lakes Conference in North America”)
The evil forces are very cunning when they use our attachments to prevent us from working together. A practitioner may anger us because he or she does not work the way we want. Or we may see a practitioner doing work that others are praising and because of jealousy we decide not to cooperate with them. Our own jealousy or anger prevents us from doing Fa-rectification with another part of the Fa body. Perhaps working with this practitioner was our mission but our attachment has impaired Fa-rectification work. We must recognize that everyone still has his/her human side with all its shortcomings. Let us accept them and work with others from our divine side. We are consummating our own paradise as well as assisting Master in this important enterprise. We are indeed one body in the Fa. This is my understanding; I appreciate any comments and/or correction.
