and 20, there are annual international large-scale gatherings in
Washington, D.C. The July l9 gathering near the Congress is
particularly important. This time the activities will be broadcast to
mainland China through the internet and will have a great impact in
exposing the evil. Participating in the D.C. gathering is neither
adding more people nor enhancing the momentum but collaborating with
the whole body and stopping the persecution with righteous thoughts.
In "Digging Out the Roots", Master said "You cannot always rely on me
to bring you up to a higher level while you, yourself do not move. Only
after the Fa is explicitly stated do you make a move. If it is not
taught clearly, you do not move, or move backward. I cannot recognize
such behavior as cultivation practice. At the crucial moment when I ask
you to break away from humanness, you do not follow me. Each
opportunity will not occur again. Cultivation practice is a serious
matter. The distance has become greater and greater. It is extremely
dangerous to add anything human to cultivation practice."
"I want to do it this way but not that way. I have other arrangements,"
and so on. It is always "I," "I," and "I." As for the whole body, the
first thing we need to think about is how to collaborate and how to
harmonize, so we can move forward to the same destination. We are here
to validate Dafa and not ourselves. It will be more effective and
powerful when we have overall cohesion.
In the past few years, we have had a lot more practitioners on the day
of conference. It is obvious that there were more people coming
for the conference than the ones who participated in the gathering. It
is clear that we are far more active in attending conferences than in
participating in activities. Is it possible that we are determined to
seek something and forget to give or neglect what Dafa disciples should
do? However, there is a selfish heart right there, to attend the
conference. No one likes to miss an opportunity to improve oneself or
to see Master, but we do not realize that true elevation infiltrates
the fabric of our everyday lives. Only wanting to receive but not
willing to give is not righteous.
Being an apathetic onlooker has been the factor enabling the
persecution to prevail. What can turn a Dafa disciple into an immortal
is this notion: A Dafa disciple will be responsible for all the
righteous elements in this universe. In "Teaching the Fa at the 2003
Washington DC Fa Conference," Master said, "A Dafa disciple... what's a
Dafa disciple? He's a being created by the most magnificent Fa, (enthusiastic applause) and he's rock-solid and as indestructible as diamond."
At the crucial moment, we are not only able to break away ourselves but
also help other practitioners to break away. The whole body of
Fa-rectification disciples is made of righteous thoughts and righteous
actions from every one of us.
Let's remember what Master said, in "Teaching the Fa at the Western
U.S. International Fa Conference," "...because during the journey
you will have hardships, tests of every sort, unforeseen ordeals, and
you will have unexpected interference from all kinds of attachments and
emotion. The interference will come from family, society, good friends,
and even fellow cultivators. And along with this there is interference
from changes in the state of human society and from human notions that
were formed in society. All of those things can drag you back to being
like an ordinary person. But if you can break through all of it, you
can advance towards godhood. So as a cultivator, what is truly
remarkable is when you can be steadfast and have righteous thoughts so
firm that nothing can sway you. Be solid and firm like diamond, or
granite, and then nothing can affect you--evil will be afraid at the
mere sight of you. If upon encountering trying circumstances your
thinking can be truly righteous, then, when faced with the evil's
persecution and when faced with interference, just one sentence of
yours fortified with steadfast righteous thoughts can instantly make
the evil disintegrate (applause),
and it will make those who are being used by the evil turn and flee, it
will make the evil's persecution of you dissolve, and it will make the
evil's interfering with you disappear without a trace. One thought born
of righteous faith is all it takes. And whoever can hold firm that
righteous thought and go the distance will become a magnificent god
forged by Dafa."
