My Experiences Clarifying the Truth in Internet Chat Rooms

Since I obtained Dafa at the New York Conference on March 28, 1999, I have participated in some activities to promote Dafa and safeguard the Fa. In his lecture in Florida, Master again pointed out the importance of Fa-studying, truth-clarification and sending forth the righteous thoughts, especially the Fa study, “No matter how difficult your environment is, no matter how busy you get, you cannot forget to study the Fa. You must study the Fa, because it is the absolute, most fundamental guarantee of your improvement.” Also, under any circumstance, we should not forget to clarify the truth and send forth the righteous thoughts. Fa studying, truth-clarification and sending forth righteous thoughts are the requirements for Dafa practitioners in the Fa-rectification period. Today, I’d like to share my experiences in clarifying the truth in Internet chat rooms.

Before I went to the chat rooms to clarify the truth, I had always thought that I had done the three things pretty well. However, after I went online, I realized that I hadn’t studied Fa solidly and deeply. During the first couple of days, when I was attacked or cursed by vicious people, my compassion and tolerance didn’t last long. I easily argued with others. My selfishness and attachments that had been deeply hidden and could not be easily found all came out. The evil also used all kinds of human notions to interfere with me. For instance, I found myself asking myself why I should clarify the truth, a question to which I already very well knew the answer. I remember that the first weekend, when I spent over 10 hours in the chat rooms, my righteous thoughts became slack and my human notions emerged. I thought things like, other people are sleeping soundly right now, why should I be here surrounded and cursed by those rude people? What am I doing here? Then suddenly I was kicked out by the chat room host. That made me realize that Fa-study, truth clarification and sending forth righteous thoughts are one integrated thing. Practitioners in the Fa-rectification period cannot do well without any one of them. We need to be dissolving into this whole body all the time. I was then able to further understand Master’s Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Fa Conference, “Clarifying the truth isn’t a simple matter—it’s not only a matter of exposing the evil. When we clarify the truth we are saving sentient beings, and at the same time it involves the matter of your own improvement and your elimination of attachments during your cultivation, and the matter of Dafa disciples being responsible to the Fa in their cultivation, as well as issues like how you fill and enrich that paradise of yours in your final Consummation.”

There are many ways to start clarifying the truth in chat rooms. They all have their own advantages and shortcomings. However, the focus should always be clear and centered on the topics of truth clarification. The progression should manifest the all-encompassing nature of the Fa. Teacher has discussed many times in Fa lectures why we should clarify the truth. In Teaching the Fa at the Great Lakes Fa Conference, teacher told us, “when this Fa-rectification matter is over, humankind will enter the next stage, and those people and beings who in their minds think that the Great Fa of the cosmos isn’t good will be the first weeded out. It’s because no matter how bad some beings in the cosmos are, they are even worse, for what they’re against is the Fa of the cosmos.” Also, Master said in “Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Fa Conference,” “With the exception of those evil ones, there are many people in this world who are innocent and who’ve been deceived by the onslaught of slanderous propaganda.” And in the “Touring North America to Teach the Fa” lecture, Teacher told us the higher-level meaning of truth clarification. “You need to know that clarifying the truth is extremely important for Dafa disciples. You aren’t just doing personal cultivation—your own cultivation is saving the beings in the gigantic cosmic bodies that you represent. When you clarify the truth you are saving even more and even larger additional cosmic bodies and the beings in those cosmic bodies, because this is the responsibility Dafa and history have bestowed upon you.” So we should spend most of our time clarifying the truth to those innocent but deceived people. For those who show their sympathy or righteousness, we just need to thank them and hope they will tell the truth to people they care about, because time is very short and there are so many people are waiting to learn about the truth.

How, then, can we find out those innocent but deceived people? After several months of trying, I found out that there were many ways. The choices depend on the situation. What I usually use now is as following: First I will use an account name such as “Dafa is good”. The name itself will filter many complexities and at the same time, attract those people been deceived, online security and administrative staffs, etc. Then send out a Yahoo Group mail to everyone and follow with some brief news such as “The self-immolation is a staged event. Why would someone rack their brains to plan and carry out such a hoax?” “Please look at the truth about Falun Gong!” “Why would anybody regard ‘Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance’ as bad and treat it as a threat?” “If you know the truth, you will say fair words.” Or, using the materials posted in Clearwisdom.net about certain areas or certain people, post some positive information about Dafa. For example, President Bush visited China and was concerned about the human rights issue of Falun Gong; the German minister of foreign affairs called for the Chinese Government to end the persecution against Falun Gong in the UN Human Rights Conference; Jiang visited Germany and faced the human rights issue of Falun Gong; and the reports about Dafa practitioners who sent forth righteous thoughts during his visit in Germany. Or post some information about the persecution against Dafa practitioners in China, such as after the broadcasting of Falun Gong Truth TV programs on the Changchuan City Cable Network, Amnesty International’s “The concern about the safety of Falun Gong practitioners in Changchuan City in China”, “The grand parade in London to protest Jiang’s new crime of launching state terrorism”, “Sixteen Falun Gong practitioners protest Jiang’s killing order and the Chinese Liaison Office presses Hong Kong police to use force and bring a false charge against Falun Gong practitioners” etc. Usually such methods will certainly attract people who have been deceived or Internet Watchdogs, and it is very easy to be kicked out by Internet administrative staffs. Thus, it should be used with discretion. Even though I might be kicked out, I can still write down the account names of those who responded and come back later to clarify the truth through private chat. Usually, if I use righteous thoughts to strengthen the delivering of these messages and send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all the interfering evil forces, and clarify the truth with serenity and truth-compassion-forbearance, I will not be kicked out. Put down all the human notions, because Master will make arrangements for all the predestined people to know about Dafa. I remember one day, I didn’t plan to go to the chat room. But I woke up after midnight and went back to sleep due to my human laziness. My wife, who was sleeping like a log, kicked me. Then I realized that this was Master’s kind reminder. So I got up immediately and went online and got on the chat room sites in Tianjin City and Dalian City. As a result, I clarified the truth to five people who had very bad thoughts about Dafa and changed their minds, among whom one was a policeman and another was working for National Security Bureau.

Before going to the chat room, it ‘s better if one could go to Clearwisdom.net to learn about the most recent situation in China and go along with the most updated Fa-rectification pace to decide today’s starting topic, location and format. For instance, if the emphasis of the day’s topics is delivering Dafa information or chatting more deeply, like “The feat of broadcasting Dafa truth on Changchuan City Cable”, we passed this information to eight areas in China in one day, and the impact was very good. We can also combine different methods. Most of the time, if time is limited, we can send links for Yahoo folder. Usually we can send to over one hundred people in fifteen minutes. For me, since my typing of Chinese is slow, so I will prepare several files for chatting, and then use copy/paste to chat with others. The files contain various questions and answers that are often raised, such as self-immolation, whether it’s non political and/or patriotic, superstition, the what and how of consummation, suicide, and so on. Also, we should keep updating the files and search for new information. As long as we put down our human notions and do it with strong righteous thoughts, Master will help us to find the information we need quickly.

When clarifying the truth in chat rooms, someone will certainly be there to censure, accuse and attack you. Sometimes it is hard to avoid being angry and frustrated. But those are attachments we should get rid of. In “Harmonious and Bright,” Master cues us, “The heart harbors Zhen-Shan-Ren, Cultivating oneself while benefiting others.” and teaches us that “A benevolent person always has a heart of compassion. With no discontent or hatred, he takes hardship as joy.” When we face those deceived people who have wrong concepts and bad karma or are controlled by the evil forces, should we as practitioners feel angry or frustrated? They are so pitiful! The time is very urgent; saving people is the No. 1 priority. This is a practitioner’s mighty virtue. When we clarify the truth in chat rooms, we should do everything according to the requirements of the Fa. We should harmonize with the Fa and manifest Dafa’s magnificence and compassion. We should let people know why we are clarifying the truth to them. We do things calmly with no pursuit. What we are doing is for them to have a bright future. Letting people know the truth is not against the Chinese Government, nor does it promote hatred. It is to help others to get people close to “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance”. This is to fully embody practitioners’ compassion and let the power of compassion dispel people’s misunderstandings about Dafa. This is “The heart harbors Zhen-Shan-Ren”, “Dafa never leaves the body” and the practice of harmonizing the Fa would naturally make “Spirits and ghosts fear the most”, let alone a human being. Just like Master said in his “Fa Lecture in Singapore Fa Conference,” “Actually, let me tell you this: Safeguarding the Fa doesn’t mean resorting to violence. Good and evil coexist within a person. We dispel the evil side and use only the good side to safeguard the Fa.” “Benevolence is quite powerful…” “If a person is free from any personal notions, isn’t motivated by his self-interest, and is genuinely looking to benefit others, when he points out another person’s shortcomings or tells the other person what’s right, that person will be moved to tears.”

I remember once when I was in the chat room of Changchuan City site, there were two very vicious people. No matter how I tried to clarify the truth with compassion, they were still ferocious. So I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate the evil forces behind them in other dimensions. Next day, when I met them in the chat room and clarified the truth to them again, they were not that vicious and ever since then, they stopped attacking Dafa online. Another time, in a chat room of a site in northeastern China, I met an exceptionally nasty, reckless person. He was even deliberately provocative, saying that if what I had said was true, than let him meet his retribution. I told him, “If you see tomorrow’s sun, please thank Falun Dafa’s compassion to you.” And then I raised my right palm. Unknowingly, my tear fell down. My righteous thought worked. All of a sudden, the chat room immediate changed. Six to seven people who were attacking Dafa all disappeared. Few seconds later, the message of “Someone met his retribution” was posted. Master said in “Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Fa Conference,” “This is also a precious opportunity. Since the old evil forces insist on giving us a chance to eliminate them, make good use of it. History has never seen this before; it’s hard to come by.”

In “Touring North America to Teach the Fa,” Master clearly told us that it took 100 million years of human history to evolve human from the point that “they didn’t have any substance to them, they didn’t have any endurance, and their concept and understanding of the things in this dimension were incomplete” then “gradually enrich the human mind and give them substance and endurance. ……”. Today, Master has taught the Fa for ten years. He has taught us this great Fa, enriched our understanding of Dafa, and strengthened our ability to take responsibility for Dafa. All of these are to enable us, the Dafa practitioners in this Fa-rectification period, to undertake this historic task and give a benevolent solution to our millions of years’ karmic relationship and retribution.

Lastly, I’d like to speak from the bottom of my heart to those who once were practitioners but who are now going along a wrong path: Dafa is benevolent; Master is the most benevolent. He could best understand, forgive and care for his disciples. In “Touring North America to Teach the Fa,” Master said, “their surfaces are manipulated by evil beings and have been driven to do some bad things—which is because they have attachments that have been taken advantage of by the evil beings”… “you can’t say he isn’t my disciple just because of his behavior in one or two instances or during one lifetime.” Master is waiting for you! He also said, “Fa-rectification hasn’t been concluded, so there’s still a chance for you to do well again. Indeed, as long as there’s still one day when the persecution hasn’t ended, that day is an opportunity. Use it well, do better, come back sooner, and don’t miss any more opportunities. Don’t dwell on your past mistakes—if you’ve made mistakes, then do well from now on. Don’t think about the things that have happened. Think about how to do well from now on, and become truly responsible to yourself and to sentient beings.”

Let us “strive forward diligently together”. Dafa disciples are a whole body. Let’s walk every step according to Master’s arrangement. Master said in “Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Fa Conference,” “The old forces made well-ordered arrangements, but I too have done things with much order. No matter which angle you look at it from, there’s a way to ultimately resolve these problems.” The requirement for Fa-rectification period Dafa disciples is to study Fa well, clarify the truth with rationality, wisdom and the heart of “Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance” and eliminate evil with righteous thoughts. Let us complete the pre-arranged historic task of “Assist Teacher in his journey in the World” in this year of horse, as the Chinese saying goes, “succeed when the horse arrives.” (Ma-Dao-Cheng-Gong).
