During the Chinese New Year, I went back to my hometown in southern Taiwan. I also visited some fellow practitioners in Kaohsiung (Gao Xiong) City to share cultivation experiences, discuss progress and difficulties with Dafa-related work, and exchange Dafa materials. There was a boy who lived next door to a practitioner I was visiting. He was very young, only in kindergarten. I heard that during the nine-day lecture session on Falun Dafa, he often came over to watch the Teacher’s lectures with the adults. He even asked his mother to come along. His mother did not want to participate, but she did watch for a few minutes and felt the teachings weren’t anything bad. She told the little boy that she didn’t want to watch the lectures, but that he could go himself.
On the first afternoon that I arrived at the fellow practitioner’s house, the boy came over to play. When we went upstairs to talk in the computer room, he followed us upstairs. Because he was tall for his age, I thought he was an elementary school pupil, so I showed him small posters with the characters “Truthfulness- Benevolence-Forbearance.” When he told me that he couldn’t understand the posters, I tried to explain to him in simple words the basic meaning of the three characters. I said, “Truthfulness is to be truthful and tell the truth, and not to lie. Benevolence is to be kind to others and forbearance is to be tolerant when suffering.” Then I tried to teach him to read the words “Falun Dafa.” I didn’t force him at all and he was quite happy to learn.
Soon after that, he ran downstairs to play while mumbling “Falun Dafa.” A few minutes later, we heard a young voice downstairs reciting, “On the road of Gong cultivation the heart is the way (From the poem “Falun Dafa,” in Hongyin).' It turned out that the practitioner’s husband, who is also a practitioner, taught him the line from the poem. We all felt strongly that this child was different from an ordinary child.
Later, when he came upstairs again to play, I used the chance to teach him the second line of the poem, “the boundless Great Law treats pain as the ship (From the poem “Falun Dafa,” in Hongyin).' He not only remembered it right away but also repeated it many times, so the entire room was filled with the sound of his young voice, “On the road of Gong cultivation the heart is the way, the boundless Great Law treats pain as the ship.”
After a while, we sat down with our legs crossed and discussed a few things. Since the boy moved near us to play, I taught him how to sit cross-legged. He could sit with one leg crossed right away, so I helped him put the other leg up as well. He said that although it was painful, he could bear it for a short while. We all felt that he was quite unusual. When he started playing again, he declared, “I am a little airplane.” I thought I should teach him to say, “I am a little Dafa disciple.” When I asked him to repeat those words after I said them, he did so immediately: “I am a little Dafa disciple.”
That evening was the last of the nine-day lecture sessions and experience sharing was next on the agenda. The boy only watched outside for a little bit and did not participate. But when we finished sending forth righteous thoughts at 10 o’clock, he came in again with a plastic bag full of fish. Suddenly he dropped the bag and it broke apart when it hit the ground. He was scared and didn’t know what to do. When a practitioner helped him put the fish in a pot, he didn’t want to take it. He was afraid his uncle would scold him for breaking the bag. I said to him, “If your uncle scolds you, won’t you be suffering? When suffering, shouldn’t you use forbearance? As long as you have forbearance, everything will be all right.” He thought for a moment, and went home with the pot. When he came back to return the pot, he told me that his uncle did not scold him. I told him again that when suffering, he should forbear, and everything will be fine. He nodded in agreement. When I saw that he was able to set high requirements for himself like a Dafa practitioner, I was very happy. The power of Dafa is truly immense. Two weeks later, I called that practitioner in Gao Xiong. He told me that the boy often came over to practice sitting in the full lotus position. He also liked to say, “On the road of Gong, cultivation of the heart is the way, the boundless Great Law treats pain as the ship,” as well as “I am a little Dafa disciple.”
Although no one else from the boy’s family practices Falun Gong and he is still quite young, he had a predestined relationship with Dafa. He is actively seeking Dafa and knows to be diligent within Dafa. In contrast, the people in Mainland China who have been deceived by the Chinese Communist Party are not as lucky. And practitioners who are not very diligent should learn from this young disciple and cherish Dafa.
