This is an account of my personal experiences in England when I took part in the European Fa rectification activities during October 13 to 21, 2001.
Before we left home, we were informed that it had been getting cold in England. When we arrived it was actually very pleasant. The first day, we took part in the parade in London. The practitioners held many banners with words such as “Falun Dafa”, “SOS”, “Jiang Zemin, stop persecuting Falun Gong” and “Release Zhao Ming” written on them to clarify the truth to the British people. We walked with firm steps and with righteous thoughts. We sent out the righteous thoughts while silently reciting, “The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the evil is completely eliminated.” In this peaceful, serene, and righteous field, many British people stopped to take a look and ask questions. Some people asked for Dafa truth materials, and some of them raised their thumbs to us after they read the materials. After the parade, we held a press conference in Dove Square, and then we did group practice, spread the Fa, and clarified the truth to local people. Many people gathered around us. They wanted to know what Falun Gong is, and why the Chinese government has been persecuting Falun Gong. I could tell that many kind people learned the truth about Falun Gong. It will establish the basis for their fine future. It also drizzled occasionally, and it was overcast most of the day.
On the second day, we did group practice, spread the Fa and clarified the truth in front of the British parliament building. It was so nice that day. It was said that that kind of warm sunshine was rarely seen in England. After the group practice we were divided into two groups. Our group went to Chinatown to pass out Dafa material both there and along the way. Because of the parade on the previous day, more people wanted to know the truth. We gave out all our materials very quickly. After we came back we started to practice the sitting meditation. At that moment, the sky suddenly changed and it began to drizzle. Some people were wearing raincoats while others were not. We began to practice. It started raining harder and harder, but we continued to do the practice. Then someone shouted: “It is raining too hard, please get up to find a raincoat.” Nobody moved. He shouted again. We still kept practicing. Then the music suddenly was turned off. Because it was raining so hard, and because some people were not wearing a raincoat, I thought to myself, “It is not convenient to get wet when we are outside. We should practice again after it gets better.” Once that thought came out my human heart was stirred up and I stopped practicing. By that time, we had already gotten wet anyway.
But almost immediately I started to regret my decision to stop practicing. “Because the evil forces run from top to bottom, they are interfering with the Fa-rectification without missing a single level” (from the “Lecture at the Washington DC International Fa Conference”). Every Dafa activity looks like spreading the Fa and clarifying the truth in the human world when, actually, it is a fierce battle between the righteous and the evil in another dimension. It was raining on the surface, yet in reality it was interference from the evil. How could we stop practicing because of the rain even if we weren’t wearing a raincoat? I realized my shortcomings at that moment. I calmed myself down, began to send out righteous thoughts, and practiced the sitting meditation again. The rain had turned into a light drizzle by then. But suddenly it began to rain even worse. I knew it was a test. I didn’t move and continued my practice. Then the rain got lighter and lighter, and finally stopped.
I looked inside myself again. I knew I should have kept practicing when it first began to rain and I should have continued practicing after my clothes got wet. But then why did I stop practicing when the music stopped? “With Fa-rectification it is completely different from ordinary cultivation. Today, when Dafa disciples clarify the truth in response to the evil's persecution, there are still some students who watch what others do. But a person always has to enlighten on his own to what he should do in the face of tribulations”(Master Li’s article “Path”). I realized that we should always keep righteous thoughts during Fa rectification activities, and we shouldn’t relax ourselves if some activities had gone smoothly before. For example, we should not get all excited after having a lot of success distributing Dafa material. And we should not let interference from external factors (such as the rain, music stopping) change us. At this very important moment when the evil is putting up its last-ditch struggle, we really need to keep righteous thoughts in mind every moment, eliminate the evil, and don’t let evil take the advantage of any loophole in our minds.
