Falun Dafa Practitioners' Cultivation Diaries (3)

[PureInsight.org] In May of 1999, I took the bus to Toronto to attend the Falun Dafa Conference. When I realized that I had forgotten to bring the address with me, I felt a bit anxious.

Just then a Chinese girl with a pair of big eyes and long hair got on the bus. I asked her if she knew where the Falun Dafa experience sharing conference was. She smiled and said, "You've found the right person. I also practice Falun Gong. Follow me."

When the bus reached our station, she motioned me to get off the bus and gave me the directions to the conference. I thanked her and we bid each other farewell.

I used to cultivate at home on my own. After July 1999, when Jiang's regime began to persecute Falun Gong in China, I started participating in public rallies to call for the end of the persecution. However, I never met that lady with a pair of big eyes again, and I kept thinking and worrying about her. I wondered if she still practiced Falun Gong.

In spring of 2000, during a group Fa study, I finally saw her again. We recognized each other and both felt very happy. It was not just because we had not seen each other for a long time. More importantly, we now knew that we were both still determined to cultivate in Falun Gong. This time we introduced ourselves. Her name is Wen Yang. She had just obtained a MBA degree and found a job in a large company as a financial analyst.

Later, Wen Yang was transferred to work in a suburb far away from Toronto, which required a long bus commute everyday and a bus transfer in a small town. Wen Yang felt it was a good opportunity to clarify the truth to the people in that small town. Therefore, she made a lot of cardboard posters with color photographs showing the facts about Falun Dafa. Every day she would bring a couple of the posters and some truth-clarification materials to work, and she would also display the truth-clarification posters while waiting for the bus. She would carry and display these posters from the crowded and noisy bus station to the small wooded town. A beautiful young woman executive dressed in a business suit such as Wen Yang, carrying large colorful posters in and out of the bus stations every day naturally attracted a lot of attention from the bus drivers, passengers, and passersby. People were drawn to the contents of the posters and took the facts-clarifying materials from Wen Yang. Many people learned the facts about Falun Gong this way. Wen Yang had clarified the facts every day in this way for half a year until she was transferred back to the company headquarters in Toronto.

Coincidentally, I was later offered a job at Wen Yang's company. Even though we were in different departments, we still had opportunities to share our cultivation experiences.

Shortly after I joined her company, I talked about Falun Gong with my manager one day. He was very interested in the Falun Gong sitting meditation. He said that he had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and in Tai Kwon Do they also had to sit in the lotus position although it was not the Double Lotus position (putting up both legs on top of each other). The manager had a childlike heart. He was very enthusiastic about showing me Tai Kwon Do's lotus potion. He put his fists on his hips, and began to kneel down on one knee. When his knee had just touched the floor, a colleague came in to see him and was shocked to see the handsome manager kneeling down on one knee before me.

When I told the story to Wen Yang the next day, she laughed so hard that she collapsed on the table and said repeatedly, "Your manger was too funny."

Wen Yang used to be a pampered daughter and never helped out in the kitchen. It wasn't until her mother became ill that she started taking care of all the housework. Every day after she got home from work, she would do the housework, take care of her mother, and persevere in studying the Fa, practicing the exercises, and clarifying the facts. She never complained about anything. I didn't know how tired she felt until I once heard her saying casually, "I try not to sit on the couch because I fall asleep as soon as I sit down.".

During the 2002 Chinese New Year, our company held a Chinese New Year gala for Chinese employees and their families. About one thousand people attended the gala. Wen Yang invited more than ten Falun Gong practitioners to attend the gala. During the gala, Wen Yang found the host and asked him to put them in the program list as a singing group. At first the host refused because they had already arranged a full evening of performances. Wen Yang sincerely pleaded, "We have come here for the purpose of singing this song. Please give us a chance to perform." Wen Yang's sincerity finally persuaded the host. He arranged them to be the last performance that night, and introduced them as "the last but the best performance of the evening."

Then Wen Yang and the other Falun Gong practitioners appeared in the limelight. They wished the audience a happy new year on behalf of the Falun Gong Cultivation Group in Toronto, then together they sang a Chinese song composed by a Falun Gong practitioner titled, "On My Way Home" (Link to the instrumental version):

"Wandering about for billions of years, searching for the Fa
Only the predestined ones will be on their way home
When the radiance of the Fa clears up the fog that blinds us
The wise ones are able to maintain tranquility in their minds
And feel truly in the midst of adversity
Waking up in the earthly life to realize changes in the cosmos"

The audience was peacefully listening to the beautiful and graceful song. The singers' faces were enveloped in gentle and peaceful radiance and their voices were so holy and pure just like lotus flowers. The voices echoed in the hall and will always be echoing in the minds of the people who heard the song.
