In “Remaking Mankind,” Master Li said, “The genuine reality is bound to bring about a new science and a new understanding. The laws and principles of the universe will appear again in the human world.”
The wisdom that Dafa disciples have cultivated from the Buddha Fa is the beginning of “truly distinguishing what is righteous from evil, good from bad, and eliminate all misconceptions while providing what is correct” in the human world.
During the past two years, all of us practitioners who live outside of China have worked continuously to expose the evil and urge the Chinese government to stop persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in China. At one point, we thought that as long as we continued to uphold the Fa and cultivate diligently, we would have passed the test once this tribulation ended. Later on, we began to clarify the truth and spread the Fa to the people of world from all angles. Only then did we realize that we have responsibility toward every single person on this earth. So many of them are being deceived by lies and hold negative attitudes toward Dafa. When we help them to find out the truth and get rid of their negative thoughts, we are helping Master Li bring them salvation and doing our best to “assist the teacher in the human world.” Recently, many of us have gradually begun to concentrate and contribute to a brand new Dafa web site called Zhengjian in its Chinese version and PureInsight in its English edition. Through our work on these web sites, we have gained a newer level of understanding toward Fa rectification and cultivation within the Fa rectification.
We have realized that Fa rectification means that everything that is not righteous from the top to the bottom will be rectified. It will encompass everything from the highest level to the lowest level and leaving nothing behind. Because of that, the progress of a practitioner who cultivates himself within Fa rectification will not be complete unless he completely breaks through all of his incorrect and unrighteous notions from the inside out. We have realized that the founding of the PureInsight web site is the beginning of the process, where Dafa practitioners can use the wisdom that they have gained as part of their cultivation in the Buddha Fa to distinguish good from evil, break through all the misapprehensions, and provide the correct understandings for the human world.
The evil will soon be completely eliminated. Once the evil is eliminated, does it mean that we will not have anything important left to do? In his “Lecture at the 2001 Canadian Falun Dafa Experience Conference,” Master Li solemnly discussed many events and issues that will take place in the future. Many of us probably share the same impression. The ones who lend their hands to help Master Li unveil all of this should be you and I, every single disciple. Billions of people are waiting to obtain the Fa in the future.
1. The role of providing testimony
A major responsibility of PureInsight is to provide testimony to the mighty power of Dafa.
From the time when Master Li first began teaching the Fa in public nine years ago, Dafa has spread from China to the rest of the world. The poignant stories of disciples upholding and protecting the Fa, the supernormal abilities and wisdom of Dafa disciples, and the elimination of the evil will continue to change the thoughts and ideas of people in the future, until the day when they truly learn their lesson. Everything that has taken place while Dafa is being spread, every single account of the wisdom, supernormal abilities and cultivation history of each Dafa particle is a precious tool that will help the people of the future change their ideas and develop a new civilization. These accounts will also serve as examples for the future generations to follow.
When the current human civilization was first founded in ancient times, it was based on a deep respect and reverence for Gods at all levels. Similarly, the gradual manifestation of Dafa in the human world will become fairy tales to the people of the future. We will leave behind the foundation from which the new human civilization will develop in the future. When we look back and examine human society, we know that, as Dafa particles, we have an unshakable duty to leave behind our righteous thoughts.
Once the Fa is completely rectified, the universe will return to its most beautiful state. At the same time, human society will also return to its best state. It will be a society where every single person believes in the existence of Gods, and follows strict moral standards to protect and uphold everything in human society. Once the truth is revealed, in the face of such magnificence and beauty, a new human civilization will begin that helps to protect the existence of human society and maintain the greatest living environment. Humankind will develop from a new starting point. Helping to create the new starting point for the new civilization is a part of every Dafa disciple’s journey as he works to “assist the teacher in the human world.”
2. Understanding Dafa rationally and eliminate deviated thinking
Another major goal of the PureInsight web site is to eliminate deviation. The deviations of human beings, practitioners, Gods and even high-level Gods cause all beings to deviate from the Fa. It is as if layers upon layers of black dust have accumulated in the universe. The Fa rectification is precisely intended to clean up these deviated matters and get rid of the black dust. As we write articles for PureInsight, we are exposing these deviations from Fa’s point of view. Along the way, we might find the “golden path” to eliminate these deviations and help our teacher to rectify the Fa.
Master Li first called us practitioners, then disciples and now Dafa particles. We all feel that our benevolent Teacher is carrying us forward and lifting us up. For a long period of time in the past, we thought that as long as we were doing things for the Fa, we would be marching toward consummation. Lately we have read a lot of articles that describe how Master Li is benevolently waiting for those practitioners who have not stepped forward. We once thought that it did not apply to us, but the truth is that “stepping forward” does not simply mean leaving one’s home. That is just the first step. If a genuine cultivator can’t step forward from all the deviated things that are human, that is not really “stepping forward.” Secondly, now we realize that we are also among those disciples that Master Li is waiting for because they have not stepped forward. If we can’t understand and validate Dafa on a rational level, we are only humans. If a Dafa particle that participates in the Fa rectification process does not develop righteous beliefs and righteous enlightenment, can he really be considered as a part of the Fa rectification? Everything that he does is just the same as an everyday person doing Dafa work.
Pretending to arrange tests for the Dafa, the old forces have tried to damage the Fa. They have arranged today’s science, culture, ideas and thinking in different fields, ideas of class struggle, a history of persecution of certain ethnic groups, and ruthless dictatorships. All sorts of post-natally acquired notions are blocking human beings. Breaking through these notions and looking at everything from Fa’s point of view rationally make up the process of us breaking through our own deviations and obtaining correct understandings.
Even though we the disciples have obtained the Fa, we still live among many deviated things. We tend to understand the Fa using deviated human thinking. We decide that Master Li and Dafa are on a righteous path because their conduct meets certain criteria developed by everyday people. We test Dafa and see if it is in agreement with today’s science. All of this can form attachments. When we use deviated human thinking while doing work for the Fa and use human emotions when we try to coordinate our work with fellow practitioners, we are actually causing damage to Dafa.
From the understandings of overseas practitioners about politics, we can see the danger of deviated notions. Starting from the time when we first began to clarify the truth to the US congressmen on July 20, 1999, there have always been practitioners who are worried that we are getting involved with politics. On June 4 of this year, when Master Li published “No Politics,” he pointed out a different kind of misunderstanding in overseas disciples. The issue is not just only whether we should do a certain thing or not. If we cannot eliminate our deviated notions, we are wrong if we decide to do this, and we are also wrong if we decide not to do this. Practitioners have spent a lot of time debating and discussing issues like this. If we express our ideas using deviated notions, the issues seem to get muddier and muddier as the discussion continues. Once we are enlightened and rise above it, everything becomes crystal clear.
Of course, this is a process that takes time. In the process of Fa rectification, we the disciples live among the things that are being rectified. As we the disciples break through the rigid notions in our minds, we are breaking through the notions about science and other subject matters, and humankind is being rectified. As people’s moral standards slowly and gradually return to a high level, the deviations in humankind will gradually be rectified. That is the process of Fa rectification.
In his “Lectures in the United States”, Master Li said, “Humankind’s modern science has in fact developed on a wrong foundation, with a wrong understanding of the universe, humankind, and life.” PureInsight should not be based on traditional scientific experiments, nor should it be based on traditional logical reasoning and deduction. Then what should it be based on? It should be based on the enlightenment and experience that Dafa disciples have gained through Dafa. It should be based on understanding and knowledge of the principles of Dafa that we have enlightened to at each of our levels.
All the principles that exist among humankind, whether they are classified as scientific, artistic, historic, literary, or whatever, were actually interconnected in their development phases. If we want to describe the manifestations of these principles in this human dimension in detail, it can get very complicated. Even if we spent several days describing them, we would still not be able to sort them out. If we want to describe them simply, they reflect the stages of decay in the morality of human beings. If we want to describe them more simply still, only one word is enough: emotions (Qing).
As Dafa particles, we need to do more than protecting the Fa among everyday people. We also need to uphold the Fa at different levels with different inner meanings. We need to be responsible to all the righteous forces within Dafa. We cannot separate Fa rectification from the rectification of ourselves. The evil is able to find room to operate because we ourselves have parts that are impure and are in accordance with the notions of the old evil forces.
The wisdom of a human being is restrained and blocked by his own karma and attachments. A person’s happiness, sadness, anger, and views about all kinds of issues are controlled by these notions and thought karma.
Only Dafa has the ability to “unlock” layer upon layer of notions in a human being. All the post-natally acquired notions are deeply rooted, and have melted into our minds, our blood and our bodies at each and every layer. Once we break through one layer of notions, we will see a layer of truth, and our wisdom will be increased. When we break through all of our post-natally acquired notions, we will be able to return to the places where our lives were first created. “But it is very difficult to break through the post-natally acquired notions in one’s mind, because this is precisely cultivation” (unofficial translation from the article “Buddha Nature” in Zhuan Falun Volume 2).
Only when we have righteous beliefs, can we have righteous enlightenment. Only when we have righteous enlightenment, can we have righteous understanding.
The science of the new era should be able to suppress evil and bolster goodness. We should never allow it be used by people to fulfill their selfish desires. With the development of the new science, human beings will begin to understand the truth about life and the importance of returning to one’s original true self more and more. Science will become a ladder that guides people as they seek to find the truth from the Buddha Fa. It should be intrinsically intertwined with the truth in the universe, and no longer be scaffolds and safety nets as people try to build imaginary skyscrapers in their heads. It will be in perfect harmony and encompass everything in the human world.
3. Clarify the truth while spreading the Fa.
At present, our primary task is to spread the Fa and clarify the truth. The truth is that for every single cultivator who cultivates himself in the Buddha Fa, once he realizes that Dafa is good, out of the kindness of his heart he should go out to spread the Fa. He should give more people the opportunity to discover the Fa for themselves. Before the evil began its brutal persecution, if all the practitioners had done well and helped those around them to understand Dafa, then fewer people would have been deceived by the lies, and it might have been easier to clarify the truth to them today. After the evil forces sent out packs upon packs of lies, many people have acquired bad thoughts in their heads, and it is now more difficult to clarify to them the truth about Dafa.
In the process of spreading the Fa, we have discovered that certain Chinese people as well as western media outlets have deep misunderstandings about the principles of the Fa. They are controlled by their preconceived notions, and so believe in rumors, and take things out of context. Once the human rights abuses and persecution end in China, a large number of everyday people will begin focusing their attention on Dafa itself. In his “Lecture at the US East Coast Conference”, Master Li said, “Everyone will be stirred by this Fa. You’ll either agree with it or oppose it.” When a practitioner gave a seminar to introduce the Fa at a religious private school, a member of the audience asked, “You said that you have gained some new understandings about the universe. Why don’t you tell us these new understandings you have gained in detail so we can believe you?” It illustrates the point that we are trying to make from a different angle. All kinds of deviations exist in the human world. There are other physical reasons that are blocking more people from obtaining the Fa. At the minimum, certain people have notions that need to be eliminated. All these can manifest themselves as opposition in this spatial dimension. The new science and the new civilization for humankind that we are starting right now will also serve important functions in helping to eliminate all these deviations.
At the same time, it is the intrinsic duty of each Dafa disciple to clarify the truth on a deeper level. During this period of time while we focus most of the attention on the persecution in China, the opposing forces against clarifying the truth on a deeper level are relatively weak. During the last two years, countless disciples have done a great deal of work to publicize the brutal persecution as well as the great benevolence and forbearance of practitioners in China. On the other hand, “What really is the Dafa?” is an issue that both everyday people and practitioners have paid less attention to. But as the Fa rectification process progresses, as the Dafa disciples do a more far-reaching job at clarifying the truth and spreading the Fa using the human rights abuses as the staring point, we also need to clarify the truth at a deeper level.
We need to clarify that Dafa is the genuine science and a ladder that helps people ascend to heaven. If a Dafa disciple cannot explain clearly why Dafa is the genuine science, then it means that he has not broken through the notions in his head. Master Li has taught us to use our righteous thoughts to eliminate the bad notions in our minds. It will help Dafa disciples to discover more wisdom and become a new kind of scientist.
When we clarify the truth, we need to do more than just talk about the persecution and human rights abuses. We need to clarify the truth about a far ranging set of topics, from the existence of Gods, to the deviation in today’s science, to every single matter and issue in today’s society.
Step by step, today’s science has blocked human beings’ mindsets. It makes people disbelieve the existence of Gods. It makes people disbelieve the historical arrangements made from a long time ago. It makes people disbelieve that good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil. It makes people disbelieve that the “natural” catastrophes that are taking place in China are just warnings, and if people do not heed these warnings, more severe punishments await. The old evil forces are using the notions and attachments of all sentient beings to destroy them. These are notions that we need to break through as we clarify the truth.
Master Li said that today’s science is not scientific, because it cannot prove the existence of De (merit or virtue), and it can’t prove that good is rewarded with good and evil is met with evil.
Our cultivation process can be described as eliminating our attachments, opening up our minds, and obtaining true wisdom. When we clarify the truth to the people of the world, we are helping them to eliminate the influence and control of the old evil forces and inspiring their own wisdom.
The only way for us to break through this dimension filled with delusion is to position ourselves from Fa’s point of view. The brains of humans are being constrained. Even when they see the manifestations of the Buddha Fa with their own eyes, they still might refuse to believe in what they see. The reason that we sometimes feel we do not know where to start is because we have not realized that human principles are being used to cause damage to people on a superficial level. When we consciously or subconsciously use human principles to judge things, when we treat things the way that everyday people do, everything we do is only as powerful as everyday people are. Without the power of Dafa, we cannot penetrate this layer of delusion. Conversely, if we can position ourselves completely from Fa’s point of view, then this human dimension is the lowest manifestation of the boundless Dafa, how is it possible for us not to see the manifestation of the Fa in this dimension? This human dimension is already so decayed. How it possible that we cannot find proof of its decay? We all can.
We need to use our wisdom to validate Dafa and fulfill our sacred duties. Along the way, we will have created the reasons to justify our existence in the universe and completed our missions to bring people salvation.
In the face of the boundless benevolence of Dafa, when we write down the title of “Dafa disciple” in front of our names, we can truly feel the weight of these two simple words. These two words carry so much responsibility, solemnity, and majesty. A Dafa disciple should oppose all evil, expose the evil while clarifying the truth, help Teacher to bring good outcomes to the people of the world to the largest possible extent, help those with predestined relationships with the Fa to obtain the Fa, save more innocent people, and assimilate ourselves into this great Fa of the universe.
In the not-so-distant future, the righteous understandings of Dafa disciples will surely surface in large quantity and spread to the everyday society. But all of this could only happen with the efforts of all the Dafa disciples. It is the wisdom and benevolence of each disciple. It is also our great good fortune.
4. The process of writing an article is the process of breaking through the deviation, eliminating the evil, and establishing righteous understandings.
On the surface, it appears that we are doing this. The reality is that all of this happens because of the great benevolence of our Teacher in giving us the opportunity to accumulate our own mighty virtues.
The basis for every article we write should be the Dafa. If we do not mix in human ideas and understandings, then our articles will be very pure and righteous. The process of writing an article is also the process of Dafa breaking through the deviated notions in our minds and eliminating the evil at the same time.
Sometimes after we finish writing an article, certain places just do not seem quite right. After we compare these places with the principles of the Fa, many times we discover that those parts do not meet the standard of the Fa. The reality is that our articles are manifestations of the thoughts we had when we wrote the articles. If our thoughts had not changed in the process of writing the articles, then we would not be able to feel that certain parts we wrote did not feel right. When we realize that certain parts do not seem right after we have finished, it means that our thoughts have been changed. Dafa has placed a question mark about the places in our minds that contained the deviated notions and opened up an opportunity. If we can take advantage of this opportunity and dig out these deviations by comparing them against the Fa, we will be able to improve quickly.
The process of writing an article is actually the process of obtaining enlightenment systematically. Because at that time we are wholeheartedly trying to validate the Fa and positioning ourselves completely from Fa’s point of view, everything becomes clear to us. There don’t seem to be many delusions left. Everything that took place from the ancient times to today is like goldfish in a glass bowl. Nothing is hidden from us.
When we write articles, we should not be afraid that we might be showing off. That is in itself an attachment that restricts us. In order to validate the Fa, we are willing to give up everything we have. Why should we be afraid of writing some articles? Wherever our writing take us, the evil in that place will turn into dust. Whatever we enlightened to, we are validating everything we are. When we share our thoughts with other practitioners, we can help them improve themselves. As Dafa disciples, when we write down the things that we have enlightened to, we are solemnly validating the Fa. On top of that, the things that we write during this historical period will also serve to eliminate the evil. Later, they will also help and guide the people of the future. It is impossible for any practitioner to have nothing to contribute, because every one of us has enlightened to some boundless principle within the Fa and each of us has the ability to validate Dafa.
Under a variety of circumstances, many disciples have personally experienced how a part of the evil in other dimensions was eliminated once we finished writing an article. We might encounter different kinds of interference in the writing process, including strong physical reactions. These things happen because the demons are afraid that the Dafa disciples will reveal the truth and write down their righteous understandings. Once we finish our articles, the demons that caused us interference are eliminated as well.
When we began to use our supernormal abilities and gong potency to directly eliminate the evil, we gained a brand new understanding about our cultivation within Fa rectification. We have realized why we need to improve and march toward consummation. It is not only to free ourselves. It is also because there are important and sacred duties that await us. We must go back to our original places. Only then can we have the ability to fulfill our duties. Therefore, we must elevate ourselves. The only way for us to elevate and the only source that grants us our abilities are Dafa and Master Li. At present, Master Li has clearly told us that he has granted us that ability. Now the only remaining issue is how we choose to act individually.
Clarifying the truth, sending out righteous thoughts and using our supernormal abilities are also different methods to validate Dafa and eliminate the evil. Isn’t writing down our own righteous understandings yet another way? Dafa has created everything. Therefore, every single righteous method can be used to validate the Fa. On the other hand, writing is a form that can be easily seen and passed around by everyone, and words can directly reflect human languages and thoughts.
Master Li said that Dafa itself won’t be left behind for the future of the people. However, the principles of Fa that Dafa disciples have enlightened to can be left behind through the PureInsight web site and benefit people of the future. It is also the way to set up an energy field of righteous understandings, and eliminate the energy field of the deviated science. Our benevolent Teacher has left that part to us. There is plenty of room in the Fa rectification process to establish the mighty virtues of the Dafa disciples, and the rest is up to us. At the same time, if today’s people can gain a correct understanding of the Fa from reading the web site, then we are also bringing them salvation. Through the web site, it is possible for people to break through their so-called understandings in today’s science, eliminate the deviated human thoughts, and establish their own righteous understandings and thoughts. Therefore it is a necessary task for each Dafa disciple to write down his knowledge and understanding of the Fa and send it to PureInsight. This should be one of the ways to assist the Teacher in the Fa rectification process.
Master Li has done everything he can and used every method possible to help us reach enlightenment and improve ourselves. Human language cannot begin to describe the benevolence of our Teacher and our endless gratitude towards him.
