[PureInsight.org] The condition of life, death, illness, and aging has lasted for eons, so it is considered an immutable law of nature. Therefore, this notion deeply rooted in humans, evidenced by the saying “any man will surely die” that is found in historical books.
As a Dafa practitioner, if we fail to change this notion about life, death, illness, and aging, we will not meet the requirements of the Fa and will fail to gain the protection of the Fa. Consequently, we will be like ordinary people, remaining in the condition of life, death, illness, and aging. Just as Master pointed out in “Cautionary Advice” in Essentials for Further Advancement, “If you do not change the human logic that you, as an ordinary human, have formed deep in your bones over thousands of years, you will be unable to break away from this superficial human shell and reach Consummation.” If a person does not change their notion about life, death, illness, and aging, they are an ordinary one indeed, as ordinary people will certainly experience life, death, illness, and aging—that is an absolute fact.
One day, when practitioner A was nearly 70 years old, he went to distribute materials for truth clarification. On his way he stumbled and fell over. He got up and thought, “I am old in years and am not as surefooted as before.” He thought he was no longer as alert as he used to be. Later, he had to walk with the help of a crutch. In less than a month, he couldn’t walk at all. During this time, practitioners came every day to help by sending forth righteous thoughts in order to help him get rid of the vicious obstruction and persecution he was facing, and to study the Fa a lot and look within to find gaps in his character. But still he never got better. Those practitioners, who tried to help, also felt perplexed.
Later, practitioner A told the practitioners the story about his fall and they helped him analyse his reasoning at the time. He began to remember that before he fell, he had been thinking that older people are not as surefooted as before. The other practitioners suddenly came to understand. This happened because practitioner A’s thought was exploited by the old forces, who ever ready to pounce and persecute him to such an extent. When the cause was found, practitioner A denied and thoroughly eliminated his notion about life, death, illness, and aging, not only from his thoughts, but also from his actions. Soon he had completely recovered and he put himself back into helping Master rectify the Fa and save sentient beings.
Practitioner B, who was over 80 this year, has been doing well in getting rid of fame, gain, and emotion during cultivation. But she always believed in life, death, illness, and aging. A few months ago, she had prepared her burial attire, because she thought she was getting old. But she didn’t expect that her health would rapidly deteriorate after that, and soon her flesh body passed away.
Then, why didn’t Master protect her? Master said: “Nobody can stop you if that’s what you want. That’s a law in this universe. If you decide you don’t want to cultivate, nobody can force you to. That’d be wrong. Could somebody really force you to change your mind? You have to discipline yourself” (Zhuan Falun). It is also because the process of Fa rectification has reached its final stage, and the Fa requirements for cultivators have become higher and more stringent. Every thought of a Dafa disciple is pivotal to their own future, and even influences the safety of the cosmos. As Master pointed out in “Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference:” “And at even higher levels, concepts like eliminating karma, enduring hardships, and cultivation no longer exist, and it’s just a choice!”
Our Falun Dafa is a practice that cultivates both your nature and longevity; it is the Dafa of the universe based on Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance. As great beings assimilating to Dafa, we are within Dafa. We should thoroughly deny ordinary people’s notions about life, death, illness, and aging. If we have strong faith, we will be equipped with supernatural power from Dafa. Just as Master said in “Fa Teaching Given in Manhattan:” “With such an enormous Fa here, the Fa will be with you when your thoughts are righteous, and this is the greatest assurance.”
Practitioner C was persecuted in an evil detection center. One time the bridge of his nose was split open by an evil policeman. The blood spilled out and would not stop (a prisoner had bled to death there a couple of days before because of head injuries). At that moment, he unhesitatingly denied the thought of “death,” regardless of the pain, and clarified the truth to those policemen who had arrived after hearing the news. The blood fell all over the floor, even more so than the man who died a couple of days earlier. The practitioner didn’t yield an inch and firmly believed in Master and Dafa. The bleeding then stopped, what should be said was fully clarified, and he came through this ordeal. Confronted with the facts, those policemen saw the supernatural miracle of Dafa and experienced a practitioner’s mercy and kindness. Practitioner C also realized the great power of the Fa principle : “When disciples have ample righteous thoughts Master has the power to turn back the tide” (“The Master-Disciple Bond,” Hong Yin-Volume II).
In the beginning of “For Whom do You Exist” in Essentials for Further Advancement, Master pointed out: “The most difficult things for people to abandon are their notions. Some people cannot change, even if they have to give up their lives for fake principles. Yet notions are themselves postnatal. People always believe that these unshakable ideas―ideas that can make them pay any price without second thought―are their own thoughts. Even when they see the truth they reject it. In fact, other than a person’s innate purity and innocence, all notions are postnatal and are not a person’s actual self.” The notion of life, death, illness, and aging is no exception. As disciples in the Fa-rectification period, the notion of life, death, illness, and aging must be discarded before we can accomplish the sacred mission of helping Master rectify the Fa, reach consummation, and return home with Master.
