Understandings on Life: The Beauty of Pure Compassion

[PureInsight.org] Among the most important aspects of mankind’s wisdom is the ability to differentiate righteousness from evil, good from bad, and beauty from ugliness. Before practicing Falun Dafa, I often saw the negative side of other people, and did not realize that my hatred toward it was inappropriate. Therefore, when encountering people who harmed others for their own self-interest, I was always very angry and thinking about punishing them. I thought I was right and didn’t bother to change my mindset. However, my efforts did not improve the situation and my criticism had no effect.

After beginning to practice, I gradually learned to treat others with compassion; even those who harmed me or others. However, my mind was not pure and my tone of wanting to teach someone a lesson often triggered humiliation or other negative reactions. Because the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) forced atheism on the Chinese people, the 5000-year old Chinese civilization is in ruins. The younger generation nowadays often speaks foul language, and rarely do they accept any decent advice.

Aunt Li is a Falun Dafa practitioner in her 70s who lives in New York. She said to me sincerely, “Compassion can unlock a person’s conscience. Only pure compassion can save a person.” She then told me a story that happened once when she went to distribute flyers asking people to quit the CCP. A well-dressed man from Mainland China passed by. Aunt Li went up and asked him to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, the man did not listen to her, and instead shouted dirty words at her. Aunt Li asked him to stop and reminded him that working for the CCP would ruin his future. He heard what she said, and then said that he was very familiar with Dafa practitioners’ activities. He also implied that he was a spy.

Aunt Li was undisturbed and continued to speak to him calmly, “No matter who you are and what you say, I want to save you. The CCP has deceived millions of people and that includes you and me. When retribution comes one day, there will be no place to hide regardless of whether you are rich or poor. When the CCP collapses, do you want to go down with it? Do you want to die with it?” That person felt Aunt Li’s compassion and began to listen. She then explained to him how the CCP has harmed the Chinese people with violence and lies, suggesting to him to do something for his own future. In the end, that person agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.

Aunt Li’s grandson, a 15-year-old high school student, was drowned at a Long Island beach when saving his Korean classmate. Aunt Li said, “I miss him very much. I think the best way to honor him is to do whatever I can to help others. My grandson saved his Korean classmate by risking his own life, while I will make endless efforts to wake up those who have yet to quit the CCP. ” She said that the younger generations, especially those in their 20s and 30s, are often unable to discern the CCP’s evilness and are thus hard to save. But she said she will “wake up their conscience as if they were my own grandson.”

For people who are lost in the maze, only pure compassion can save them. Because people come from different places in society, with different backgrounds, their understandings vary from one to another. However, after watching a Shen Yun performance, with the show’s pure compassion, their appreciation of the show is the same. This is because Shen Yun artists put their hearts into it, and their sincerity and purity touches everyone and can awaken their spiritual side. I think Shen Yun Performing Arts will hold shows in Mainland China soon so that China will once again become a Divine Land as it was once called.
