Letting Go of Fear When Introducing Shen Yun to People

A Dafa practitioner in North America

[PureInsight.org] Shen Yun performances have been held in my area for the past three years. When looking back, I realized that every Shen Yun promotion effort was a process for us to overcome our own limitations and to improve our faith in Master and the Fa.

I was not a person who was proactive in talking with others. Nonetheless, through the process of truth-clarification over the past 10 plus years, I have made progress in this regard. When it was time to introduce Shen Yun to society at large, however, laziness and fear impeded me deep within my heart. Every step forward required strong determination from me in order to overcome the interference. After realizing this issue, and with my Master’s help, I was able to find Fa-principles related to this topic when studying the Fa. In “Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Switzerland”, Master said, “Fear is an attachment, too. It’s a matter of whether your will is strong. You should overcome it.”

I often went to shopping malls with another practitioner and we visited each store one after another to save people. After doing this for a while, I became more courageous. Later that practitioner no longer had time for this and I continued to promote Shen Yun in the stores myself. When looking back, we found these visits helped other practitioners when they contacted the same stores later on for advertising in The Epoch Times.

There is one idea I have had for years, that is, to introduce Shen Yun to the CEO of my company. Every year I missed this opportunity due to the attachment of fear. When Shen Yun came to my city again early this year, I decided to seize the opportunity. I asked myself what I was fearful of, and the answer was nothing. After realizing that, I had no excuse in my heart preventing me from telling others about Shen Yun openly and above board. One day when it was almost time to go home, I visited my CEO's office. He was on a business trip and I was able to talk with his secretary. I had met with his secretary previously and given her a Shen Yun flyer, so it was very natural for me to introduce Shen Yun to her again this time. When I asked her to pass on the information to the CEO she happily said yes. I also took the opportunity to visit several other senior staff members’ offices and introduced Shen Yun to their secretaries. By then, I felt much better since I knew I had let go of more of my attachment of fear and that I had made a breakthrough.

As a result of this experience, it became very easy for me to visit law firms and clinics later on, and I felt the attachment of fear was gone.
