[PureInsight.org] To be a human being or a god, or to be a god forged by Dafa? Regarding this question, I agree with fellow practitioners that when a person’s thoughts are into fame, personal interests, emotion and desires, he is a human being. If his thoughts are based on the Fa, his being is a god. Master said in “Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles,” “What's important for cultivators is righteous thoughts. When you have strong righteous thoughts, you are able to withstand anything and do anything. That's because you are a cultivator: someone who is on a divine path and who is not controlled by the factors of ordinary people or low-level principles.” Not being controlled by the factors of ordinary people or low-level principles is due to strong righteous thoughts and divine thoughts after understanding the Fa principles. If one is able to remain clear-headed and rational most of the time, he or she would be walking on the divine path arranged by Master. He or she would have relatively fewer tribulations and do the three things well. Yet it is a hard process to break out of a human being’s shell and cultivate solidly. For example, sometimes when I studied the Fa or did the exercises, I had many distracting thoughts. The demon of sleep also interfered with me from time to time. Although my face looked radiant with vigor, I got more and more white hair. From the perspective of the Fa, it was because the particles of my thoughts didn’t change much and my thought-karma was still strong. Whenever I meditated, I thought about Dafa projects and worked on articles I needed to write in my mind. I didn’t distinguish between cultivation and doing things. As time went by, I developed the habit of doing things. This not only interfered with the changing of my thoughts but also strengthened my thought-karma. From the Fa we know that it is well planned out by Master the points where different parts of our body will be cultivated. This was based on our enlightenment to the Fa, the improvement of our xinxing, and how we pass our tests.
Whatever Master says, we'll do. We don’t need to think about it too much. In this way we can break away from the control of the principles at low levels and ordinary-people’s factors.
In 2005 we distributed a lot of “Nine Commentaries” locally. We distributed in the city first, and then we spread out to the suburbs. The evil party assembled lots of policemen and tried to kidnap us. Suddenly a contagious hog cholera broke out. Several sick hogs ran away. All the policemen were sent to look for the hogs. The kidnapping didn’t end up happening. Then we went to all the nearby towns and villages to distribute materials. The evil party again assembled all the policemen and planned to kidnap Dafa disciples. Suddenly the pedicab drivers in the city went on strike. They surrounded the city hall and put the corpse of a driver in front of the city hall. All the reporters went there to report the news. The evil party was so worried about protecting the corrupt officials, controlling the crowd and preventing reporters from learning the truth that their kidnapping plan again fell through. No practitioner was arrested.
Our conclusion was: when we distributed “Nine Commentaries,” our minds were pure and we cooperated very well. Master taught us to let every person in the Mainland read the “Nine Commentaries”. Even Dafa disciples were shocked by the wickedness of CCP while reading the “Nine Commentaries”, let alone ordinary people. Our only thoughts then were, “Pass ‘Nine Commentaries’ out to ordinary people. Wake them up from CCP’s lies.” We didn’t hold any other thoughts. The attachments of showing off or validating ourselves were replaced by the urgency of passing out the “Nine Commentaries.” Moreover, we cooperated very well. Everyone cooperated voluntarily. Master repeatedly taught us that, “What's key is to not let them take advantage of the gaps in your state of mind when you do things.” “For Dafa disciples as a whole, in the process of validating the Fa, when you work together in concert, the Fa power is great.” Under such circumstances, any principles at low levels or ordinary people’s factors couldn’t stop or control us. Our safety was assured. Because of our origin and responsibility, Dafa has higher requirements for us than for ordinary gods. It is not enough to have only kindness and compassion. A life forged by Dafa needs to assume full power and responsibility.
Several years ago, a fellow practitioner who was in graduate school was forced to leave home and wander about. She was at a loss and asked me, “Why do we need to go out to clarify the truth? Why do we need to step out to validate Dafa? Wouldn’t it be enough to just cultivate compassion?” I shared my understanding with her, “We cultivate ‘truthfulness, compassion and forbearance,’ which is equal to cultivating a universe. We are responsible to guard the truth, save sentient beings, and clean out evil. We are developing powerful abilities during the process. The Dao School cultivates ‘truthfulness;’ safeguarding the ‘Dao’ is the responsibility of the Dao School. Therefore, thousands of years ago, under the arrangement of gods, cultivators played the role of assisting the first emperor to overthrow a fatuous and self-indulgent ruler. The Buddha School cultivates compassion. The Buddhist’s responsibility is to save sentient beings. We are not just cultivating one single school. We are cultivating the fundamental Fa of the universe. We are cultivating the universe. Dafa will forge us into gods with immense capabilities and responsibilities when we cultivate ourselves well, validate Dafa, clarify the truth and disintegrate evil.”
“What is a human?
Full is he of emotion and desire.
What is a God?
Human thoughts are nowhere found.
What is a Buddha?
Benevolent virtue is amply endowed.
What is a Dao?
A realized being, serene and clear.”

My understanding is that we must do the three things with a pure and clean mind, always think of saving sentient beings when doing things, do our best to clarify the truth and spread the Fa, and disintegrate evil firmly, rationally and compassionately. Meanwhile, we must continuously cleanse ourselves with Dafa, look within upon encountering conflicts, correct wrong-doings, rectify ourselves immediately if make we make mistakes, don’t allow ourselves to get swayed by low-level and evil factors, and step out from among human beings. “One’s purity is seen, After the adamantine will is fully tempered” (“Stirred by Reflection”). We are disciples of the Lord of Buddhas; we are the children of the supreme king of kings. Master has been earnestly and tirelessly instructing and protecting us. Master led us to descend and let us become Dafa disciples. In this way, our mighty virtue has been gained. We take responsibility for the universe. We are the gods forged by Dafa.
