(Falun Gong), which was introduced to the public in May 1992, reveals
the characteristics of the universe - Truthfulness, Compassion and
Forbearance. Falun Dafa practitioners have gained better health and
elevated morality, and the practice was widely welcomed by people and
spread rapidly merely through word of mouth. On April 25, 1999, ten
thousand Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China traveled to the
National Appeal Office on Fu You Avenue located closely to Zhong Nan
Hai (the Government compound) and peacefully appealed for the release
of 45 Falun Gong practitioners who had been arrested by the riot police
in Tianjin for no legitimate reason. The petitioners had heard that
riot police were being used to beat and arrest Falun Gong
practitioners. This appeal was addressed and treated rationally by the
then premier and resolved equitably that same night. The event is
referred to as the "4.25" incident.
"4.25"pushed Falun Gong onto the international stage
The media's reporting of the incident widely made the originally less
known Falun Gong famous and pushed it onto the international stage. In
Taiwan, for example, people rushed to learn Falun Gong and each month's
"Nine Days Lecture and Exercises Seminars" were all full. The
population of cultivators increased dramatically. The current number of
practitioners in Taiwan is several hundred thousand at about one
thousand practice sites. The practice sites cover almost all of the
three hundred towns in Taiwan. Even on the outer islands of Penghu,
Jinmen, and Mazu there are over a dozen practice sites. At present,
Falun Dafa has spread to over 80 countries, received over 1400
proclamations and, especially in Asia, Australia, Europe and North
America, it is treasured by people of various nationalities and
benefits over 100 million people all over the world.
Within three months of the "4.25" incident, on July 20, 1999, the
Chinese Communist Party and Jiang's regime utilized the entire state
machinery to start the persecution of Falun Gong. They arrested Falun
Gong practitioners in Mainland China on a massive scale, utilizing all
media, the legal system, police, spies, the Party and its bureaucracy,
and the foreign affairs department to carry out an omni-suppression.
They fabricated slanderous lies, blocking factual information. A
pervasive brutal crackdown started: Falun Gong practitioners were
illegally arrested and imprisoned, brainwashed, beaten, tortured with
electrical batons, raped, forcefully injected with drugs that damage
one's central nerve system and even murdered for their organs. The
inhumane measures used in persecution make one's hackles rise. Up to
the present, at least 3148 Falun Gong practitioners have been
persecuted to death and numerous innocent people have been kidnapped
into detention centers, labor camps, prisons, brainwashing classes and
mental hospitals where they have been subjected to persecution.
Opposing the persecution with a rational mind and steadfast belief
Having undergone physical and mental suffering from torture, Falun Gong
practitioners continue to uphold their beliefs. Facing inhuman
humiliation and persecution, they do not harbor hatred and anger but,
instead, oppose the persecution in a peaceful, rational and tolerant
manner. Falun Gong practitioners' persistence in opposing the
persecution has been playing out one after another in heaven-and-earth
shaking stories of cultivation. A group of kind people has endured
genocidal repression from a dictatorial government.
During the past nine years, Falun Gong practitioners all over the world
have been clarifying the truth to communities, government officials and
media through various means, such as holding banners, passing out truth
flyers, parades and rallies, press conferences, candlelight vigils,
collecting signatures for petitions, anti-torture exhibitions,
"Zhen-Shan-Ren" art shows, "Validating the Fa" photography exhibitions,
and performances. They also established a radio station, a newspaper, a
TV station, and filed law suits against the head evil-doers, including
Jiang, Li Lanqing and Luo Gan. They have been persistently breaking
through information blockades and clarifying the truth about Falun Gong
being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party to people and awakening
their consciences through phone calls, faxes and mailings to mainland
China.
The Nine Commentaries reveal the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party and people are gradually waking up
At the end of 2004, the Epoch Times published a series called "The Nine
Commentaries on the Communist Party," that induced a big wave of
Chinese people all over the world to withdraw from the Communist Party.
So far, the number of people who have openly declared their withdrawal
from the Chinese Communist Party and it affiliated Youth League and
Pioneer Team on the website of the Epoch Times exceeds 35 million. The
Nine Commentaries revealed the true villainous nature of the Communist
Party as an evil cult thoroughly from the perspectives of history,
politics, economics, culture and beliefs. More and more Chinese people,
both inside and outside China, have declared their withdrawals after
realizing the evil nature of the Chinese Communist Party and turned
their moral awakening into actual action in discarding the CCP.
Many people's attitudes towards Falun Gong are also gradually changing.
Nine years ago, many people in Mainland China were deceived by the lies
from the Communist Party and hated Falun Gong, but now they know that
Falun Gong practitioners are all good people among good people. After
reading the Nine Commentaries, they took the initiative to renounce the
communist evil spirit and the big wave of "three withdrawals"
represents the restoration of morality and conscience. People's
attitudes towards Falun Gong also changed from sympathy and
understanding to recognizing and support, and many lawyers even openly
defend Falun Gong practitioners as being innocent of any wrongdoing.
Support from the international community; opposition to the persecution becomes wide-spread
Falun Gong practitioners continue to clarify the truth and oppose the
persecution, thus thoroughly expose the lies and crimes of the CCP. As
the truth spreads far and wide, it has become more obvious that the
evil is being eliminated and justice is being restored. On October 4,
2004, the US congress passed Resolution 304, expressing the concerns
from both House of Representatives and Senate. The resolution demands
the CCP to immediately stop interfering with religious freedom and
political rights, including the rights of Falun Gong practitioners. It
states that the CCP should stop using diplomats to spread lies that
twist the nature of Falun Gong in the US and release all the prisoners
of conscience, including Falun Gong practitioners.
In recent years, with the righteous support from the international
community, opposition to the persecution has become strong, which is
also symbolic of the ending of the persecution and the collapse of the
CCP. In 2006, for example, on January 25, the European Committee formed
by 46 countries, passed a resolution condemning the crimes by communist
dictatorships. At the end of January, the City Council of San
Francisco, USA, passed a resolution "condemning the persecution of
Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party." In mid-April, at the
European Committee's second annual meeting, 11 representatives put
forward a motion requesting a hearing regarding the crimes of building
concentration camps and harvesting organs from live Falun Gong
practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party and asking the CCP to open
all the labor camps to international investigators.
The Olympics and crimes against humanity cannot co-exist in China
In April of the same year, over 400 delegates from various fields and
from various parts of the world who are concerned about the Human
Rights of Falun Gong practitioners, formed the Coalition to Investigate
the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) and asked the CCP to immediately
stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Later, CIPFG initiated the Global
Human Rights Torch Relay, calling on the world to face and oppose the
CCP's persecution of Falun Gong before the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The
Human Rights Torch was lit and started its travels in Athens, Greece on
August 9, 2007. So far it has passed through more than 20 countries in
Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South America, and the United States,
and will continue on to Canada and Asia. The Human Right Torch has been
welcomed and supported by local government officials and various
organizations wherever it appeared.
Beginning January 1, 2008, CIPFG started the "Anti-persecution Millions
of Signatures" petition and will present the people's will to the
International Olympic Committee, the Human Rights organizations of the
United Nations, international human rights organizations and
governments and congresses of all the countries, hoping that the
international community and the related organizations will follow the
people's will, uphold justice and conscience and ask the Chinese
Communist Party to stop the persecution of Falun Gong immediately and
release all Falun Gong practitioners now illegally imprisoned. The
strong message and goal of this activity is that Olympics and crimes
against Humanity cannot co-exist in China, and the CCP must stop the
persecution of Falun Gong.
Commemorating "4.25" - Anti-persecution upholds Justice
An ancient saying says: "Virtue is not lonely and it surely has
company." In the past nine years, Falun Gong practitioners from both
mainland China and overseas have been clarifying the truth of Falun
Gong being persecuted to the people of the world through various means,
calling on people's consciences and kind hearts. Their righteous
actions are like a burning torch in the dark, leading the people
towards the light. Since "4.25," following the universal principles of
Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance, Falun Gong practitioners have
courageously and fearlessly opposed the persecution with great
compassion and forbearance to this very day.
The great wave of withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party is an
irresistible trend, and the global resistance to the persecution
represents even more the human heart. The light before the dawn is
already showing. The day justice will be done is coming nearer and the
murderers, with their bloodstained hands, will eventually be brought to
justice. Although the persecution is still going on, Falun Gong
practitioners will continue as always what they are doing until the
persecution stops and the evil is eliminated. The long dark night is
over and the bright morning is in front of us.
