The vicious persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in Chinese forced labor camps
From a certain perspective, the existence of the current Chinese forced
labor system and labor camps is primarily for the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. When Falun Gong
practitioners were first sent to labor camps, many changes occurred in
those camps instantly. Due to the continuous resistance and
anti-persecution efforts of Falun Gong practitioners, one of the
changes is in the handling of common criminals who are detained at the
labor camps. Guards and other vicious people at the labor camps have
been treating the common criminals much better than in the past. On one
hand, the guards use those common criminals to help persecute Falun
Gong practitioners at the labor camp; on the other hand, they use
various temptations to lure them to commit additional crimes against
Falun Gong practitioners. A private conversation says it all, "You
should thank Falun Gong for your better treatment." Another change is,
because the Chinese government has used more than one fourth of its GDP
to persecute Falun Gong, large-scale construction has taken place in
many labor camps. On one hand, the CCP continues to mislead
international communities with its lies, painting the labor camps as
paradises. On the other hand, it has expanded and built spaces to
continue persecuting Falun Gong practitioners at the labor camps.
The financial appropriations that the labor camps receive from the
Chinese government have substantially increased since the all-out
persecution of Falun Gong started. The amount of the appropriation that
a labor camp receives depends on the number of Falun Gong practitioners
it holds. It amounts to several thousand yuan per year for each Falun
Gong practitioner. A part of the appropriation was originally intended
for improving the living standard at the labor camps as well as for
food subsidies. The CCP had hoped to persuade Falun Gong practitioners
to give up practicing Falun Gong by "killing them with kindness." Much
of the funds have been embezzled by the guards at the labor camps. But,
in general, the food at the labor camps has improved. For example, one
labor camp used to serve steamed cornbread as its main course all the
time. Now it serves steamed wheat bun as its main course every once in
a while.
Forced labor camps encourage drug users and hard criminals detained at
the labor camps to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners there. Those people have been very cruel and merciless;
they have beaten some practitioners to death and caused severe
injuries, including permanent paralysis, to many more practitioners. A
lot of drug users smuggle drugs into the labor camps in collusion with
prison guards. They even openly arrange for prostitutes to come into
the camps. Some use their connections or pay bribes to receive medical
parole, reduced prison terms, or other special treatment. The labor
camps have rapidly become vicious, decayed, shameless, and lawless
places to meet the CCP's needs for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.
It is an indisputable fact that the slave labor is widely practiced in
the Chinese forced labor camps. The work environment, conditions,
intensity, and the number of hours worked are extremely bad at the
labor camps. But some variations do exist among the different labor
camps. The Chinese labor camps now operate the same way as private
enterprises. Each brigade at a labor camp is subject to independent
accounting. Each brigade has a financial quota to meet each year. The
captain and the head of the local CCP branch of each brigade are
responsible for meeting the quota. Being driven by the financial quota
and seeking quick and huge profits, they work with businesses that are
in need of cheap labor. Persecuting Falun Gong practitioners has
provided economic benefits to the labor camps. Among the vast amount of
merchandise shipped to the west from China are products produced by
Falun Gong practitioners who are forced to work under the slave labor
system in the forced labor camps.
One of the brigades in a labor camp I was imprisoned in specialized in
producing disposable chopsticks. Each pair of chopsticks was handmade.
Everyone was to produce several thousand pairs of chopsticks per day.
The quota was as high as twenty thousand pairs a day sometimes. People
weren't allowed to rest until they had finished their quotas. The
production environment was filthy and didn't meet the Chinese National
Foodstuff Sanitation Law. Some laborers were inflicted with skin
diseases or hepatitis B. Out of retaliation or hatred towards the
society, some inmates even willfully spit on those chopsticks. The
labor camp produced millions of those disposable chopsticks, which were
sent to Beijing and areas around it
To Falun Gong practitioners, being forced to do slave labor is one of
the methods of the guards at the labor camps use to persecute them. If
they refuse to do slave labor, labor camps have a reason to carry out
any punishment against them. But because of the resistance of large
numbers of Falun Gong practitioners with their righteous thoughts,
labor camps ultimately use it only as a supplemental tool for
persecution. Some camps do not force Falun Gong practitioners to
complete their quotas as long as they participate in the work.
The brigades who are in charge of persecuting Falun Gong practitioners
at each labor camp are not responsible for production. It is because
the bonus that the labor camp receives for reforming a Falun Gong
practitioner is much higher than the money that the labor camp can make
off the work of a single inmate, and it seems much easier to do. In
addition, because of vicious policies coming down from above, the
"reform rate" that a labor camp can achieve and the number of Falun
Gong practitioners it persecutes to death are tightly linked to the
salaries, bonuses and promotions that guards at the labor camp receive.
Therefore, the labor camps are under a lot of pressure to use all their
energy to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. According to reports on
the Clearwisdom website, more than a hundred cruel torture methods have
been used against Falun Gong practitioners in various labor
camps.
Up until April 12, 2006, the CCP has persecuted at least 2862 Falun
Gong practitioners to death. Most of them died in the forced labor
camps spreading over 33 provinces, autonomous regions, and
municipalities. According to people associated with the CCP insiders,
the actual number of death of Falun Gong practitioners is more than ten
thousand. How evil has this persecution that came down from the top of
the government almost 7 years ago has been? How many things has the CCP
still managed to hide during its cruel persecution of Falun Gong
practitioners? Only an international independent investigation can
uncover the truth.
The horrible slaughter in the CCP's concentration camps is beyond the imagination of human beings
On March 8, 2006, The Epoch Times
reported the existence of a secret concentration camp in Sujiatun,
Shenyang, Liaoning Province where Falun Gong practitioners were being
locked up, their organs removed while they were still alive and their
bodies cremated. People now know Falun Gong practitioners being
imprisoned in Sujiatun concentration camp were the practitioners who
had resisted being "reformed" while they were imprisoned illegally in
various detention centers and forced labor camps.
On the eve of CCP's disintegration, according to an insider, the CCP
started implementing a plan to do away with people who know the evil
things that it has done. Falun Gong practitioners are targets of the
CCP's operation of extermination. More than 6000 steadfast Falun Gong
practitioners were transferred from northeastern and central China and
other regions to the Sujiatun concentration camp. The CCP not only
killed them, but used their organs to make extra income! No one has
ever escaped from the camp. Organs such as kidneys, livers and corneas
of three quarters of about 6000 Falun Gong practitioners were removed
and their bodies cremated. The insider who exposed what had happened
was married to a surgeon who was involved in removing organs of Falun
Gong practitioners.
As reported by The Epoch Times,
based on the recent evidence provided by a witness, there are at least
36 such concentration camps like Sujiatun in China. Because the
information has been blocked by the CCP, the number of Falun Gong
practitioners who have been persecuted or tortured to death is
difficult to verify.
The CCP has been deceiving international communities all along:
The CCP hastily published the so-called "Temporary Regulation of
Clinical Practice on Human Organ Transplant Technology" on March 27,
2006. But it delayed the actual implementing date to July 1, 2006. It
gives the CCP ample time to wrap up its dirty deeds.
In view of the CCP's shamelessly trampling on the pledge of "never
again" by the civilized societies in dealing with the Nazi's massacre
of Jews in concentration camps during WWII; and
In view of the urgent need to save the lives of those Falun Gong practitioners:
We strongly appeal to the international community to promptly adopt
every possible means to carry out an independent investigation of
China's forced labor camps and concentration camps. We also call on the
concerned parties, out of moral conscience and humanitarianism, to
formalize an urgent demand that the Chinese government stop its
campaign of eradication of Falun Gong practitioners.
In the face of the CCP's complete disregard of human morality, ruthless
genocide, and insults to humanity, all conscientious people in the
world please take action right away! Stop the CCP's persecution of
Falun Gong practitioners.
