[PureInsight.org] After a month of clarifying the facts in Manhattan, I learned that New Yorkers were, at the beginning of our efforts, very standoffish. Changes have gradually become noticeable. New Yorkers are much more approachable now. Falun Gong has become of serious interest to them. I can feel the Fa-rectification really progressing at a very high speed. The gathering of Falun Dafa practitioners from all over the world in Manhattan has formed a field of righteous thoughts that eliminates the evil. And we find this field manifesting in this dimension, as many people can accept the truth more readily.
Regrettably, we still have not perfected the process. I would like to discuss the issue of clarifying the facts anywhere and at any time. Clarifying the facts everywhere and at all times will save more pre-destined people. I believe that my sharing will help others to validate Dafa better.
Fa-rectification Dafa disciples must make clarification of the facts a top priority. We are walking the path of Gods. Therefore, whatever we do is in reality saving sentient beings. If we hold the true thought of saving sentient beings in our hearts at all times, it will become natural for us to clarify the facts at any time. We would not feel shy to face people directly. Nor would we be afraid of rejection. From the perspective of the Fa, we all understand that all people are here for the Fa, and all are related to Master. Hence, it would not be by chance that we meet anyone, although it may seem to be. In fact, each of them must have a pre-destined relationship with us and need our helping hand for their salvation. It is especially so in Manhattan where the evil is battling the righteous. If an entity understands the facts, the corresponding evil in the other dimensions would have been eliminated. This will continuously reinforce the righteous force.
Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference," "Everything that Dafa disciples are doing today and everything in society you encounter, I can tell you, you are saving living beings." "Also, with those people that you run into by chance, in daily life and the people you run into at work, you should all clarify the truth to them. Even when, in your daily life, you pass by someone so quickly that you don't have a chance to talk to him, you should still leave him with your compassion and kindness. Don't lose those who should be saved, especially those with predestined connections. Actually, a lot of Dafa disciples say when they're clarifying the truth, "I'm going to go clarify the truth now," as if at that moment they're going to clarify the truth but you're not clarifying the truth at other times. Embed saving living beings into every single thing in your present daily life. If you can all understand and really see its importance, I think you'll probably save more living beings."
Master has already taught us what to do. Therefore, on this path, we must give our utmost when clarifying the facts. Even during any minuscule incident in our daily lives, there are opportunities for us to clarify the facts. Purchasing vegetables, buying things, waiting for public transportation, asking for directions, at gas stations… All those places are where we will encounter people who have a predestined relationship with us. "How to find those people with a predestined relationship, then? Say I put an advertisement in the newspaper to find whoever has a predestined relationship—that would be useless. But there is one point everyone needs to be clear on. Probably every one of our students understands in his own heart that there are some people who will immediately feel struck or excited when you mention to them the words, "Falun Gong," or the words, "Zhuan Falun," and those people immediately want to learn it. These are very possibly people with a predestined relationship. Some people's hearts remain unmoved no matter how you talk to them. They are very possibly people without a predestined relationship" ("Lecture at the Conference in Switzerland," September 4th and 5th, 1998, Geneva). Therefore, when we clarify the facts, we must always mention the words Falun Gong.
I understand that when Master wants us to clarify the facts, "sharp swords shooting out together from their mouths", therefore we must all speak up and not just distribute the materials alone. We must also clarify the facts when we distribute the materials, otherwise many people will think that they are advertisements, and will therefore throw away the materials. We should provide fact clarification to passers-by who look at the torture exhibitions. Just a sentence like "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong, a meditative exercise beneficial to the body and mind." or "Rescue American citizen Dr. Charles Li jailed in China because he practices Falun Gong." Superficially, the people are rushing by, but our words can enter their minds. Master said: "As you clarify the truth, the words you speak and the energy you emit have the effect of intimidating and eliminating the evil. You are crucial in determining whether the lives in this world stay or get eliminated. " ("Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference"). "Don't overlook any of the things that Dafa disciples do. Your every word, every flyer, every keystroke, every telephone call, and every letter is having a huge impact. Beings that have come to understand the facts become mobile media, and they too clarify the facts." ("Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Midwest-U.S. Fa Conference").
Hence, we must not neglect to say a few words when handing out fact clarification materials. Many people walking by, on hearing about Falun Gong or about rescuing an American citizen, will want to read the materials. As a matter of fact, even if we do not have any flyers or other materials, we can also talk about the facts. On several occasions when I had no materials left, I continued to tell people that I was from Canada and it was because of letting New York people know the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong that I had come to New York. Furthermore, the persecution is now affecting Americans... and all the people listened to what I had to say, some even asked me for materials.
In the process of clarifying the facts anywhere and at any time, for at least a minute or two at a time, more details can be conveyed, like informing them that I was from Canada, and that I had come to New York to let the people know about the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong, which is also affecting Americans. I informed them that American citizen Dr. Charles Li had already been unlawfully jailed in China for almost two years. They could help rescue him. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. For example, although "9-11" occurred in New York, people of the world stood up against terrorism. In this way, the people are often moved to accept the materials because they know we came from afar to ask for help in rescuing an American citizen. Moreover, they would then treasure the materials and would not casually throw them away.
No matter where I went in Manhattan to clarify the facts, I always had materials in Chinese and English in my hands or in my bag. My hands and mouth never stopped working, as there would always be people destined to know and wanting to hear the facts. After sending forth righteous thoughts every morning, I would go to the subway station to distribute Dafa newspapers. From the moment I left until I returned in the evening, I met people that were destined to receive the materials. Sometimes I woke up in the morning feeling tired, but when I walked out of the door I would feel energetic. After greeting people and saying a few words about the free newspaper, I was glad when people accepted the materials, since there were many more sentient beings that were saved. When I arrived at the subway station, I treated everyone on the platforms as prospective people to clarify the facts. Even when few people accepted the materials, I would still tell them that Falun Dafa is good, as it benefits the body and mind, and yet it is being persecuted in China. In this way, a seed might have been planted in them regarding the persecution. In the future they will be interested to know more when they meet with Dafa practitioners or when they come upon the torture exhibitions. At least these people have heard the facts about Dafa, although only for a few minutes and a few words.
In subway trains, I would usually join another practitioner to distribute the materials. We would not leave anyone out, and go from car to car, and greet everyone respectfully, and announce that the Falun Gong newspapers are free of charge. For those who would not accept the materials, we would inform them that Falun Gong is good as it benefits the body and mind. But China has persecuted it for the past five years and it is now affecting the American people. After hearing that, many people would accept the materials. Nowadays, many Chinese people will also accept the materials. However there are still those who will not accept them. Therefore, we would ask them if they knew that Falun Gong had been unjustly treated? Did they know that the "Tiananmen self-immolation" was staged? We are not against China, but because our family members are being persecuted to death, we are seeking justice. We are giving these people a chance to gradually understand the situation in China and to eventually discard their misconceptions.
At present, when we clarify the truth, many people will tell us that they have already read our materials and encourage us to continue. Some want to learn the exercises, some want to read Zhuan Falun, and some ask how they can help us. Some people even take the initiative to clarify the truth. Some show the newspaper to every person who comes to their home, and some already wrote letters to congress people, the media and President Bush. Some people working on Wall Street said all the people in their company were talking about Falun Gong. They even got on Dafa-related websites to learn more. Many people asked why Falun Gong is persecuted. People's hearts have been changing everyday. I feel very gratified when I see people carefully reading newspapers made by Falun Dafa practitioners. Of course, there are also people who don't take materials, but my heart isn't affected. I keep on doing what I should do. Some people do not take a flyer today, but maybe they will tomorrow. Many people said "I have seen you on the street many times but didn't have time to come to learn about it. I will take a newspaper today."
Here are some stories. One day when I was passing out flyers on the way to a subway station, a person from Hong Kong stopped me and asked urgently why no one answers when she calls the number on the flyer. It turned out that she needed our truth material urgently because she'd run out of it. I gave her some flyers but she said that those weren't enough. Only after I gave her a bunch was she satisfied and let me move on. She also insisted on having my phone number, in case in the future she couldn't find anybody to give her materials. I noticed that right away she gave the flyers to each of her customers.
When some westerners saw me passing out flyers, they specifically asked for Chinese materials, explaining that they would show them to their Chinese friends, because their friends mistakenly thought that Falun Gong was not good.
There were also some westerners who said their Chinese friends told them that Falun Gong was not good and practitioners kill themselves and others. I would then carefully tell them why so many overseas Chinese too had been deceived by the slanderous propaganda, and Falun Gong practitioners couldn't kill themselves or others. Even now, Chinese propaganda is still spreading poison to foreigners. If the misunderstandings in their mind are not cleared up, it will be dangerous for them.
One day, several people working at a certain investment company were taking a break. I immediately approached them. I told them why we came here. I told them that we were here to tell about genocide being committed against Falun Gong practitioners and that the dictator Jiang's crimes are the same as Hitler's crimes against the Jewish people. Jews are suing IBM for $12 billion, because IBM supported Hitler during World War II. The money invested in Germany was used to kill Jews. However at that time, no one was telling IBM the truth. Therefore, we came to Manhattan to tell the business people that the genocide in China has gone on for five years, and that without foreign investment, the persecution could not possibly have lasted this long. We believe that the persecution is going to end soon and all who have participated directly or indirectly will be put on trial and will have to pay reparations for the crimes they have committed. They all said that before they didn't know the relationship between them and the persecution and now they know. All of them asked for the truth newspaper and said that actually someone in the office already posted our flyer and newspaper on the wall and everyone could read them.
Another time, on the way to pass out flyers, a Westerner stopped me and said that the newspaper I gave him yesterday was really interesting and it fascinated him immediately. He told me, "When I read that a million people have been tortured just for doing meditation, I was really shocked. After returning home, I showed the paper to my wife, who works at the Supreme Court. She is going to send an e-mail to all her colleagues and tell them about this issue."
One day, I was clarifying the truth to a well-dressed gentleman on the train. He said that he read The Wall Street Journal, the New York Daily, the New York Post, and the New York Sun. He mentioned that had also read our newspaper and thought it was well done and very comprehensive. He noticed that among the four newspapers he mentioned, only the Sun has not published anything about Falun Gong. The Wall Street Journal often publishes things and the other two recently also reported positively on Falun Gong.
If people said that they already had read our newspaper and flyers, I would tell them that on the backside of newspaper or flyers there were suggestions in how to help. And I also asked them to share the truth of Falun Gong with other people. "Beings that have come to understand the facts become mobile media, and they too clarify the facts. Don't miss a single opportunity anywhere and everywhere you go. Let's make use of each second and minute in Manhattan, do not miss the sentient beings we should save, and do our best to fulfill our grand prehistoric oath.
