On page 807 of Forbidden Archaeology is a photograph and description of a fossilized partial shoe sole in Triassic rock dated 213+ million years ago. This story, by Dr. W.H. Ballou, originally ran in the October 8, 1922 edition of the New York Sunday American. It stated that a mining engineer and geologist, John T. Reid, discovered the fossil while prospecting in Nevada. Reid showed the fossil to several 'experts' from the American Museum of Natural History. They all agreed that the fossil was a 'freak of nature', a remarkable natural imitation of a man made object. Subsequent analysis, including 20X magnification, revealed the minute construction details of the shoe sole, including the perforations for stitches and thread details. There is no mention of any retraction by the scientific experts at the American Museum of Natural History.
