[PureInsight.org] This week, a record number of more than 22,000 Falun Gong practitioners in China has sued the Chinese Communist Party’s former leader, Jiang Zemin. Now the Chinese public security agents in Beijing have started to block letters from across the country addressed to China’s Supreme Court to sue Jiang, some local governments are also trying hard to stop such a movement. Yet, the number of Falun Gong practitioners who are determined to sue Jiang has kept increasing. It is learnt recently that officials from the Supreme Court have asked local governments to investigate those who have sued Jiang and the reason behind the lawsuits.
Starting from the end of May up July 16, Falun Gong’s official website Minghui.org has already received 82,226 copies of legal complaints against Jiang Zemin from Falun Gong practitioners and their family members. During the week of July 10, more than 22,070 of copies of lawsuits against Jiang were recorded on Minghui.org. This week alone, more than 3,000 people registered every day at Minghui.org to record lawsuits against Jiang. Due to China’s firewall and other information communication difficulties, many more similar lawsuit cases are not yet recorded.
Different local governments have reacted differently so far. In the provinces of Liaoning, Jiling, Shandong, Heilongjiang and Hebei, government officials called or personally visited those Falun Gong practitioners who had sent lawsuit letters. Falun Gong practitioners were asked whether they had indeed issued the lawsuits against Jiang and why they wanted to do that. Some local police officers were dispatched to help record the conversations, Falun Gong practitioners were then asked to sign off such written records afterwards.
Most of the government officials didn’t seem to show signs of agitation; they seemed serious in trying to figure out what might be going. In a small town in Liaoning province, a local police officer personally visited a Falun Gong practitioner’s house 6 times to eventually meet the practitioner and then take the practitioner to the local office to talk about the lawsuit. They talked for more than 3 hours.
Some local police officers or community clerks sympathized after learning about the persecution suffered by Falun Gong practitioners. They said they would take the lawsuit letters with them and read them over carefully later.
Yet, there were still a few “610” office workers or local police officers who didn’t see the obvious trend in China and continued to harass Falun Gong practitioners. They tried to kidnap Falun Gong practitioners who had sent out letters to the courts. Recently, in the provinces of Heilongjiang and Shanxi, 20 to 40 Falun Gong practitioners were illegally detained under the excuse of “helping investigate the lawsuit against Jiang”. Jiang is soon to be put on trial in China, yet, those who have followed Jiang closely in the persecution process against Falun Gong don’t seem to see such a trend. Who wants to continue to carry the burden of crimes committed by Jiang against Falun Gong? Why don’t these people wake up?
Falun Gong practitioners are trying to use every avenue possible to sue Jiang. They contact local governments, go online taking every possible advantage to let the Chinese government know to seriously look into Jiang’s crimes against Falun Gong. Some local government officials were at first shocked to learn of the news, but they quickly kept silent when they learnt of the crimes committed by Jiang against Falun Gong.
In the province of Hebei, a group of Chinese central government’s disciplinary officials was staying in a hotel the other day. Falun Gong practitioners went directly to that hotel to hand them the lawsuit letters. Some local security agent tried to block those Falun Gong practitioners. But those disciplinary officials heard the noise outside and opened the door to see what was going on. Falun Gong practitioners took the chance and handed the lawsuit letters to one of the officials.
No matter how complicated the current Chinese government’s internal political fight might be, Falun Gong practitioners, on the other hand, remain calm and unmoved. Everything is simple for Falun Gong practitioners, they just want to do one thing, and that is, they want to let more people learn the truth so that they won’t be fooled by the government’s propaganda. The persecution has lasted for 16 years now, Falun Gong practitioners have already matured, they are even firmer now. They will keep going along this path. In the process of suing Jiang, Falun Gong practitioners want to wake up all those who have participated in the persecution against Falun Gong. It is time for these people to realize the current situation. Of course, in the end, it is everyone’s own choice that will determine one’s final fate.
