Using ";Science"; to Validate Dafa Little by Little

A North American Dafa Disciple

Master said during the “Lecture on the Fa at the Washington, D.C. International Conference, 2001”, “Many disciples are highly educated, and the vast majority of the disciples outside China have advanced degrees. Why is this the case? It's precisely to have you put to full use at this crucial time what you've learned among everyday people and are good at; to have you validate the Fa using everyday people's skills which Dafa created for people in this world.” This made me wonder. I am a man who has been stuck inside a science lab for twenty-two years, who has gone from elementary school to secondary school and then to the university, obtained a doctorate and become a professor right away. If I add the three years of professorship to my formal education, it adds up to twenty-five years that I have spent in school. One could say I’ve learned a lot of scientific knowledge and also have become quite knowledgeable in the field of biology. Then how can I use my knowledge to validate Dafa even better? I thought about it hundreds of times, yet did not find an answer.

One day I rode the bus home while reading a new article from Master Li. A Chinese lady got on the bus and sat beside me. I handed her a small booklet clarifying the truth. She said she was strongly against the Chinese government’s persecution of people of different beliefs. One side of her admired people with belief systems, but another side of her also couldn’t understand why people would believe in God. She asked me many questions, such as, “Isn’t true that science can prove that there is no God? Where did human beings come from? Where did the earth come from?” So I said to her, “Actually, science has already proven the existence of many things that many people still consider superstitious. I am a biologist and I’m very interested in biological medicine, and have researched ancient science for a long time.” I noticed when I said “I am a biologist,” she immediately changed her attitude and listened very interestedly to the examples from ancient science I quoted: how science has validated that humans have a soul, where humans come from, and more. A lot of the information was from Pure Insight net. In the end I reasoned with her, “A long time ago, earth was hit by an asteroid or met with another disaster. Only a small number of people survived, slowly the population grew and civilization advanced…” Naturally, this changed her original understanding of man as being evolved from apes. I told her I had learned a lot from Zhuan Falun. It let me understand a lot of “unexplainable” mysteries. This encounter opened a door for me: Isn’t this also using science to validate Dafa?

One western practitioner said: “I know practitioners are all very modest. This is good of course, but don’t be too modest. For instance, when phoning a member of parliament or a congressman, you can introduce yourself as professor so-and-so. Western people highly respect people with higher education, since all of western society is based on modern science. Why do many practitioners have advanced degrees in scientific fields but not in fields such as religion or English literature? It’s because almost everyone in western society believes in a religion. No matter how much education you receive on that subject matter, it will not surpass a person’s own understanding of religion because he was raised in this environment. No matter how good your English is it will never surpass his level of English since it is his first language. However, science is different. In western countries, obtaining an advanced degree is very difficult. Only a small number of people have advanced degrees. And because everyone admires and believes in science, when you say you’re a doctor or a professor, they will respect you.” An example from not long ago supported this. Nine practitioners from my district faxed or phoned our congressman, asking him to support a congressional resolution that urges the Chinese government to stop the persecution of Falun Gong. Only I unintentionally put the title of Ph.D. after my name on the fax I sent him. His reply to me was “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to find out more about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. I have already decided to be a co-sponsor of the resolution.” Isn’t this another kind of validating Dafa? Letting society know that many Falun Gong practitioners are highly educated and have advanced degrees.

Of course, what I listed above are just a couple of insignificant ways to validate the Fa with the aid of science. There should be more ways to validate the Fa. I only wrote them down to initiate a discussion on this matter.
