How Can We Remain Silent Any Longer?!

[PureInsight.org] Not long ago, He Xuejian, a policeman from Hebei Province, raped two Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Liu Jizhi and Ms. Han Yuzhi, one after another. Ms. Liu Jizhi bravely stood up and exposed how the policeman had scandalously raped her. It was the first time that a rape against a Falun Gong practitioner has been completely exposed to the outside world. After Ms. Liu exposed the crime that had committed against her, a Canadian citizen Mr. Zeng Xiaonan stepped forward and exposed how his mother Ms. Huang Xin had been stripped naked, thrown into a cell of male prisoners on death row, and gang-raped after she was arrested by Mainland Chinese police for practicing Falun Gong.

Unfortunately I have learned that the three aforementioned rapes represent only the tip of an iceberg of rapes against Falun Gong practitioners. Although Teacher has repeatedly taught us that the evil criminals fear exposure the most and that we must expose all crimes committed against Falun Gong practitioners so that together we would have the best chance to deter and stop these horrific crimes and persecution, many, too many, rapes and sexual abuses against Falun Gong practitioners have not been exposed. A few have been exposed, but no detail was ever provided and it was not possible to take further actions to bring the sex criminals to justice. Given the situation, I would like to share my humble understandings on these issues as a cultivator.

Of course, the Chinese Communist regime's information blockade is one of the reasons why the majority of the rapes against Falun Gong practitioners have not been exposed. On the other hand, why have fellow practitioners in China been able to expose other types of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners? In comparison to other types of persecution, rapes and sexual abuses have been scantily exposed. Apparently the state of mind of the victim is a determining factor.

1. Compared to other types of abuse, rape does not necessarily leave the victim with severe physical injury. As a result, some victims have failed to identify it as a severe type of persecution.
Especially when the Chinese Communist regime first started its persecution against Falun Gong, a lot of Falun Gong practitioners were very confused about why they had been raped by the so-called law-enforcement officers. Instead of exposing the rapes and sexual abuses to Minghui.org/Clearwisdom.net immediately afterwards as they would have done after being subjected to other types of torture, they spent a long time trying to figure out why they had been raped. Often times they failed to identify why it had happened.

For example, a female Falun Gong practitioner in Beijing was arrested and detained at Tiananmen Square Police Station. The police there handcuffed her hands behind her back, and put her in a locked room by herself. There an armed policeman on duty repeatedly raped her over a period of two hours. At the time she decided the rape resulted from her karma, so she did not fight or even call for help. Afterwards, she decided that she should "tolerate and forgive" the policeman who had raped her, and refused to expose the crime. Some practitioners even thought they had been raped because they had an attachment to lust. To make matters worse, some practitioners even criticized those female practitioners who had been traumatized by the rapes [because they believed it must have represented a loophole in the victims' cultivation practice.] Due to these reasons, a lot of rapes that occurred in 1999, 2000 and 2001 have never been reported on Minghui.org/Clearwisdom.net.

I don't think we should treat every problem we encounter in the Fa-rectification period as a part of our personal cultivation practice. Besides, none of those rapes took place in a chance encounter or because of the victims' personal feud with the rapists. Instead, they took place because the Chinese Communist regime had ordered the Chinese police to persecute Falun Gong and given them a free reign on how to torture Falun Gong practitioners. Consequently, each rape of a Falun Gong practitioner is a persecution of Falun Gong. Even if we have attachments that still need to be removed, while we try to let go of our attachments, we still shouldn't give up our opposition to the evil on major issues that are clearly right or wrong. Otherwise, we will become attached to our personal karma or cultivation level, which are even bigger attachments.

2. The evil rapists exploit upon the victims' feeling of shame to escalate the persecution
A sexual assault is an ultimate insult to a woman's dignity. As a result, while facing sexual assaults, many female Falun Gong practitioners failed to resist the assaults and simply broke down in tears. From the perspective of a non-cultivator, no one could blame the victims for their responses. However, it is very clear for us cultivators that ordinary villains have no power to sexually assault Falun Gong practitioners. They themselves would never dare to do so. It is the evil from other dimensions that directed the villains to rape female Falun Gong practitioners. If a practitioner should collapse while being threatened with rape, it would be very difficult for her to bring forth her righteous thoughts. In fact, some female practitioners who had never given up their belief in Falun Gong when subjected to other forms of torture collapsed after they were sexually assaulted. Once the evil identified rape as an effective means to ruin their wills to cultivate, it began to use the method rampantly to destroy practitioners' cultivation practice.

Back in 2000, a female practitioner showed determination to continue her cultivation practice when she was first put into police custody. Later she was stripped naked and thrown into a male prison cell where she was gang raped. Afterwards, her fine, delicate face became swollen. Her mind became very confused. Later she even started to help the police to persecute fellow practitioners. After she turned to the dark side, naturally she would not think of exposing the horrible rapes she had been subjected to.

3. The evil's crimes are hidden because it is too painful for the rape victims to recall what had happened
From the perspective of the victims, rape and sexual assault are crueler than any other type of torture. If a cultivator refuses to give up his faith in Falun Gong after he is subjected to numerous forms of physical torture, he feels that he has made a normal sacrifice and he remained an untainted person to the end. But in the Chinese culture, a woman often thinks that she would rather die than be raped. Because the rape scene is extremely brutal and the rapist is worse than a beast, a rape victim is extremely reluctant to reveal her real name or identity because she feels she has lost her innocence and because she is extremely reluctant to be associated with the rapist in any way. Those who knew about the rapes are also reluctant to expose the crimes.

For example, many of us know about the rape that had been committed by a Chinese policeman in 2001 under Lijiao Bridge in Dabeiyao, Beijing. The victim, a female Falun Gong practitioner, courageously stepped forward and exposed the crime. However, she just provided a brief account of the rape and she didn't provide any details for us to take more action. Later she was imprisoned in the 7th Police Division and probably has been sentenced to serve time in a Chinese prison somewhere. The rapist walked away free, but the rape victim remains imprisoned! If she had been willing to provide details of the rape like the two female Falun Gong practitioners raped by policeman He Xuejian in Hebei Province had, two good things would come out of it. First, the world would know that the report of rape against Falun Gong practitioners is not an allegation or a fiction. It is a fact. Second, fellow practitioners would be in a better position to rescue her.

Actually, the infamous gang rapes against 18 female Falun Gong practitioners at Masanjia Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province have not been fully exposed either. The victims provided scant details for professional western media outlets, such as Sound of America, to work with, let alone for us to file a lawsuit on behalf of the victims. As a result, the Chinese Communist regime turned around and exploited upon our loophole, saying that we had made the whole thing up.

Let me give another example. Back in 2002, some Falun Gong practitioners from outside of Beijing went to Tiananmen Square to protest the Chinese Communist regime's persecution against Falun Gong. They allowed themselves to be taken into police custody, but they refused to provide their names to the police. They were then transferred to a detention center near Qiliqu, Hebei Province. There the police stripped all the female practitioners naked and threw them into male prison cells, where they were gang raped by male inmates. Moreover, the police forced the male practitioners to watch the gang rapes. At the time, a male practitioner from Shandong Province could not bare to watch the horrible rapes any longer, so he told the police his name. After he was sent back to his hometown, a local policeman discovered that he was a distant relative and released him. When he returned to Beijing, he only mentioned the incident very, very briefly and refused to tell anyone the names of the victims. Judging from his facial expression, it was extremely painful for him to even recall the incident. According to him, the scene was so frighteningly appalling and brutal that he couldn't bear to watch it.

I can relate to the feelings of the practitioners involved as one human being to another. However, I can imagine the old forces' mentality as well, "Since you feel ashamed like an ordinary human being does and are reluctant to even recall the sexual assaults, we will exploit upon your human sentiments by raping more practitioners. Beside, the more horrible a rape is, the less likely you will expose it." Consequently, we have provided the evil with a giant loophole to exploit.

It is every cultivator's goal to transcend the realm of ordinary human beings. There is nothing wrong with an ordinary person feeling shame, but it might constitute an obstacle for a cultivator in the process of transcending humanness and attaining godhood. Don't we aspire to reach enlightenment? An enlightened being is a guardian of the truth of the universe. Then aren't we supposed to guard the truth while we are in the human realm? If we remain silent when we witness killing, arson or rape, can we truly say we are safeguarding the truth? We can tolerate some things, but there are certain things we must not tolerate!!!

Teacher said,
"Dafa disciples, away with your tears,
The demon Satan has completely collapsed.
Clarify the facts, send righteous thoughts,
Expose the lies, clean out the rotten ghouls."
("Be Clearheaded")

Please, we must not be overcome with the pain of being raped any longer. We must not remain silent or passive any longer. We must no longer be attached to making improvement in our personal cultivation. For the sakes of revealing the Chinese Communist regime's lies, saving sentient beings and safeguarding justice and truth, it is high time for us to speak out!

Three suggestions if I may:

1. The rape victims should stand up courageously to reveal the crimes that had been committed against them.
2. Those who know about the rapes should also step forward and provide additional facts to make the information more complete so that fellow practitioners can take more action.
3. Those fellow practitioners who learn about the rapes must not criticize the victims or order them to do this or that. We should take the initiative to do everything we can to help them heal the wounds, to expose the crimes and to clarify the truth to the entire society.
