[PureInsight.org] On October 8, 2005, ghastly clouds covered the sky above Manhattan. The pouring rain left puddles of water everywhere on the ground. Some areas of Manhattan were soaked with water several feet deep. At 11:00 A.M., Falun Gong practitioners who had been persevering in clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in Manhattan showed up as usual on the sidewalk between 33rd Street and 7th Boulevard, completely impervious to the gloomy weather.
Falun Gong practitioners who had come to clarify the truth at this particular torture re-enactment site mostly came from Taiwan, New Jersey, Texas, and Canada. Among them were men, women, elderly folks and children, with the majority of them being elderly folks over 55 years of age. They braved the chilly and windy weather on top of the rain and clarified to the truth about Falun Gong in earnest attempt to inspire the kindness of the passersby.
The adverse weather of chilly wind and rain contrasted Falun Gong practitioners' steadfast faith in Falun Gong's cultivation principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. Deeply touched by Falun Gong practitioners' spirit, passersby took rain-dampened truth-clarification flyers and signed their names on the petition calling for an end to China's persecution against Falun Gong.
A middle-aged African-American lady stood in the rain for over an hour, talking to a Falun Gong practitioner in order to understand the truth about Falun Gong. Before she left, the lady signed the petition to support the cause. Finally she went up to the elderly Falun Gong practitioner who was wearing makeup resembling bruises and injuries from brutal beating and had her arms hanging in the air to re-enact the torture of hanging and beating. The lady said, "I cannot imagine or feel the agony one must feel to be subject to the long period of hanging and beating. I admire your steadfast faith. Thank you for everything you have done."
An elderly lady over 60 years of age told us what she was thinking during the torture reenactment. "When I thought of Falun Gong practitioners that are suffering from many types of torture in China at this very moment, a thought came to my mind: kindhearted people, please hurry to help Falun Gong practitioners end the illegal and inhuman persecution. I have never stood for such a long time, but today I truly felt gods in heaven were watching and helping us wake up people's conscience. Although it was pouring, I felt my body was very light. I did not feel tired at all."
After having learned the truth about China's persecution of Falun Gong, an enthusiastic passerby went back to his friend's home nearby and dragged his friends over to sign the petition to support the cause.
The large rain drops kept pouring from the sky. In the sound of raindrops, people's spirit of justice and conscience awakened little by little. A Falun Gong practitioner named Julie said, "The little drops of conscience will ultimately form a clear stream and eventually a powerful river of conscience that washes away the residual filth and evil in the human realm. It will be the day when the new epoch begins."
