Assimilating to Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance

A Taiwanese Dafa Disciple

[PureInsight.org] I attended a petition drive at a "Protect Human Rights in Taiwan" event on October 25th. With signature forms in my hand I walked on the shore bank of Bitan Lake in Xindian City and clarified the truth to people face to face. Starting from the arrests of Taiwan Falun Gong practitioners in Mainland China, I talked about what Falun Gong is, the reason why the Chinese Government started its crackdown on Falun Gong, the grand global trial of Jiangxx, about some Falun Gong phenomena that might look strange to Taiwanese people, about how Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioner Lin Xiaokai was detained by the Chinese Government unreasonably and finally to the reason why we strive to clarify the truth about human rights to tourists. Some signed immediately, perhaps because they had a clear side, while others rejected it with an attitude of contempt.

The next day I went to a park to promote Dafa. I saw a man sitting on a bench. I went over to hand him a booklet containing an introduction to Falun Gong. He refused it and said, "I knew Falun Gong a long time ago." I wanted to talk to him more about Falun Gong. However, he angrily stood up and went away. Before he left, he said, "Do you really live up to tolerance?" I was anxious and told him, "You are welcome to know more about Falun Dafa." He replied, "You guys need to examine yourselves well." I froze there, and I knew it was a mistake. But I looked inward.

When I first heard about Falun Gong, I shied away from seeing those bloody persecution pictures. Now I have learned that it was actually an indication of my human attachment. In the eyes of everyday people, kindness is defined as not acting brutally. They never try to find out where brutality originated. They think that as long as they have nothing to do with it, and as long as they make a clear distinction between themselves and brutal incidents, they are innocent. They think that they are thus truthful and tolerant, since they have maintained their honor and tolerated others. In fact, those notions are really warped.

I was sad when I saw those people by Bitan Lake and when they told me that they wanted to be alone and asked me not to bother them. They told me that they did not believe anything and did not want to know anything. I used to be like this before. I was "tolerant," but with hatred inside me. It was really forced and restrained tolerance. I was like they–on the surface I was not willing to know anything. Actually, I cared about everything. I pretended that I would not bother or hurt anybody. I got along with people with "good will," which was really worldly wise in order to make myself safe. I overlooked others' unfairness and agony. This is not compassion.

From "Beyond the Limits of Forbearance" in Essentials for Further Advancement II, Master said, "Forbearance (ren) is not cowardice, much less is it resigning oneself to adversity. Dafa disciples' Forbearance is noble; is the manifestation of beings' magnificent, indestructible, and diamond-like solidity; is tolerance for the purpose of upholding the truth; and is mercy toward and salvation of beings who still have human nature and righteous thoughts."

Recently I was involved in clarifying the facts to law enforcement people. I learnt that righteous thoughts were "Truthfulness." When we told them the truth with righteous thoughts, our righteous energy and great compassion would immerse them. Lawyers came to their own decisions while within our energy field.

As a matter of fact, Dafa assisted us. With the power of Dafa, righteous thoughts foster our compassion, because we know that validating Dafa is saving all sentient beings. Master said, "Actually, with a lot of things if you calmly and gently talk to people and handle those things rationally, you'll find that your wisdom will flow forth like a spring, and every sentence of yours will get right to the point, and every sentence will speak the truth." (From Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference) It was true – when I clarified the truth to lawyers, my wisdom flowed forth like a spring. If we can really follow Master's teaching of "Validate the Fa with rationality, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and save people with mercy..." (From "Rationality" in Essentials for Further advancement II) true compassion will manifest, since we are not attached to surface forms.

I hope that I can follow Master in my cultivation. I will keep up, upgrade myself and reach Consummation in the Fa-Rectification process.
