In "Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference," Teacher said, "So for our Dafa disciples outside of Mainland China, this is a chance for us to clarify the truth further, and to help people all over the world and the governments of each nation better understand this display of evil. So I hope you'll do your work along these lines more solidly, and help people to truly recognize all of this."
Because we have emphasized the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in our truth clarification efforts, we have effectively raised people's awareness of the persecution in China. Many people, though, perceive that the persecution against Falun Gong only impacts Falun Gong practitioners, or that the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners is just one of the countless human rights violations in China. We must make additional efforts to let people understand that the Jiang regime's persecution against Falun Gong is not limited only to the Falun Gong practitioners in China but to nations and people worldwide. We must let people understand that the vicious slanders and fabrications do not poison only the minds of Chinese people. Such poisonous deceits have now spread far beyond the boundaries of China. The persecution against Falun Gong directly challenges democracy in Western countries, the domestic policies of foreign nations, and their moral values as well as their freedom of belief. In a sense, the Jiang Zemin regime is dragging the people of all nations into the abyss of hell along with it. What awaits us is an opportunity to further clarify the truth to help governments and people all over the world recognize the essence of the evil persecution, as well as the obstacles to be removed for the salvation of all living beings.
I. Jiang's Persecution Against Falun Gong Is a Threat of Global Proportions
When the evil Jiang Zemin regime began to frantically persecute Falun Gong in China, in order to garner support from the international community, it spread vicious propaganda that slandered "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" to the countries around the world. When people and governments all over the world did not have access to the truth about Falun Gong, they accepted Jiang's vicious propaganda as fact or remained silent toward the persecution. Objectively speaking, these involved nations have become participants to the Chinese regime's fraud, lies, and the persecution against Falun Gong. This deception spread so rapidly due to today's advanced transportation systems and the mass media, which has turned the Earth into an "Earthville," where modern technologies have overcome obstacles of time and space, making real-time information exchanges and worldwide traveling a reality. This is why, from the very beginning of the persecution, the persecution of a righteous faith in Dafa immediately spread to world.
Many prophecies in Centuries by the historical French prophet Nostradamus have already come to pass. Most prophecies appeared as mysteries because they were explicitly expressed. Often many different explanations of a given prophecy abounded until the predicted events took place. For example, among one thousand pieces of prophecy in Nostradamus' Centuries, few of them specified the year or month of a predicted event. There are some exceptions. For instance, Nostradamus wrote in Centuries III, Quatrain 77,
"The third climate included under Aries,
The year 1727 in October,
The King of Persia captured by those of Egypt:
Conflict, death, loss: to the cross great shame."
According to historical records, Turkey, the powerful Ottoman Empire, defeated Persia (today's Iran) in October 1727. Egypt was a subject of the Ottoman Empire at the time. Persia surrendered and sought a shameful peace with Turkey. The "shame to the cross" refers to the fact that Shah Ashraf gave the lands of Tauris, Hamadan and Emran to the Turks and recognized the Sultan as the legitimate successor to the Caliph. The Ottoman power continued in strength until the 20th century, and no more Crusades were ever raised by Christians.
Nostradamus wrote in Century X, Quatrain 72:
"The year 1999, seventh month,
From the sky will come a great King of Terror:
To bring back to life the great King of the Mongols,
Before and after Mars to reign by good luck."
Looking at history, one will not find a more appalling event than what occurred on July 1999, when the brutal Jiang Zemin-led persecution was launched against one hundred million Falun Gong practitioners who follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. The "King of Terror" took advantage of the political power of Jiang's evil regime to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in an attempt to destroy Falun Gong practitioners' righteous faith in "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance." By July 1999, Falun Gong practitioners could be found all over world. With that in mind, the "King of Terror" is not only persecuting people in China, but people around the world. From another point of view, the fact that there are Falun Gong practitioners all over the world attests to the reality that people all around the world need "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance." This campaign of persecution against people who believe in "Truthfulness Compassion Forbearance" becomes a global threat to people all around the word.
II. Jiang's Regime Spreads the Vicious Persecution to Overseas Countries
A. Vicious Propaganda
In China, Jiang's regime use Chinese people's chauvinism to deepen their suspicion of the outside world. On June 7th, 1999 at the Chinese Communist Politburo, Jiang Zemin made a belligerent comment regarding his Falun Gong policy as he stated that "Falun Gong has an extremely complicated international background. It is supported and used by anti-China regimes led by the United States. The western countries have never stopped their "schemes to westernize China …" In other words, Jiang was making all nations take sides --- to support the persecution against Falun Gong, or to be labeled as anti-China regimes.
In addition, Jiang's regime began to exhaust all available media at all costs to spread its propaganda, including TV, radio, newspaper and Internet. The regime continued to fabricate overwhelming lies about Falun Gong, and forced these untruths upon the unknowing public in an effort to confuse them with vicious propaganda against Truthfulness- Compassion- Forbearance.
As the head of Chinese's ruling Party, Jiang Zemin toured foreign countries and personally handed foreign leaders brochures that slandered and attacked Falun Gong in order to disseminate his vicious propaganda to the leaders of other nations.
Chinese embassies and consulates worldwide held press conferences to spread the evil deceit overseas. They also searched Falun Dafa websites and compiled a list of celebrities, NGOs, and media that had openly supported Falun Gong. They then sent the fabricated lies about Falun Gong to people on the list, but they completely ignored all inquiries of human rights violations in the case of persecution against Falun Gong in China. Chinese embassies and consulates also bribed oversea media to attack and slander Falun Gong, thus cheating and poisoning the minds of overseas Chinese, and creating the impression that all Chinese people were against Falun Gong.
As Mr. Sheldon Leffler, former New York City council member, has described, the Singapore Daily and China Press as continuously publishing articles that slander Falun Gong without any proof, and damage Falun Gong practitioners' reputation, as well as the financial and spiritual aspects of their lives. These Chinese diplomatic entities also hosted touring exhibits overseas to frame, smear, and attack Falun Gong. During Jiang's tours to foreign countries, they distributed lies about Falun Gong practitioners and provided blacklists of Falun Gong practitioners through foreign relations channels in an attempt to mislead foreign governments, and thereby make them allies of the Falun Gong persecutor, Jiang Zemin. Chinese embassies and consulates also disturbed the press conference and persecution awareness events held by Falun Gong practitioners. For example, the Chinese Embassy in London shamelessly caused troubles at a Falun Dafa press conference. Such spiteful behavior that violates freedom of speech happened not only in England. On World Human Rights Day in Australia, the staff of the Chinese Consulate poured buckets of water over Falun Gong practitioners during their peaceful appeal.
The Chinese government prohibited all domestic Chinese media from broadcasting the truth about Falun Gong, and also forbid the foreign media to videotape major incidents in China, such as the staged self-immolation incidents at Tiananmen Square. Chinese security officers even confiscate or expose the film and video-tapes to sunlight, as a means of punishing foreign media to get back at them for broadcasting third-party news about Falun Gong. For example, the Chinese regime recently blocked Chinese people's access to BBC because it contains reports on Falun Gong.
B. Interfering in Foreign Countries' Internal Affairs
Jiang's evil group interfered with and demanded that several countries as well as several local governments rescind previously issued proclamations about Falun Gong. Stan Bogosian, former Mayor of Saratoga, CA said:
"In November 2000, while mayor of Saratoga, I issued a proclamation honoring the practitioners of Falun Gong in our community. The proclamation occasioned a protest from the Chinese Consulate, including a request by the Consul General to rescind the proclamation. The insinuation of the Chinese government into the political affairs of our city is completely unacceptable. If we learn any lesson from the last century, it is that Americans have to come forward and be heard when repression strikes in the world. We can only speculate as to how history might have been different if our citizens had spoken up when events unfolded in Turkey during the early part of the century, or in Russia and Germany during the 1930's."
Chris Daily from the San Francisco Board of Supervisor (District 6) testified how the proclamation for Falun Dafa proposed by him was vetoed after the interference from the Chinese Embassy. He also mentioned that soon after the incident, the Mayor of San Francisco visited China and was accorded a reception that was much higher than a mayor normally receives. In addition, Jiang also met with him.
Jiang's evil group demanded that some countries to remove the Falun Dafa media advertisement posters that promote the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance." For example, in New Zealand, Falun Gong posters were removed from both the Auckland International Airport and the Christchurch Bus Shelters because of pressure from the Chinese Embassy, which threatened to stop all Chinese tourists from visiting New Zealand. The Chinese Consulate to Houston pressured the Chinese Southern Daily, a local Chinese newspaper, into stopping the printing of Falun Dafa advertisements.
Jiang's evil group even requested some countries to cancel Falun Dafa parades and other public gatherings. On March 2002, because of the pressure from Jiang's government, the Indonesian government stopped the Falun Dafa parade in Jakarta, right in the middle of the parade. In the same month, the Australian government temporarily canceled the legal sit-in demonstration by Sydney Falun Dafa practitioners. The Indonesian Court of Justice took sides with the Chinese government even though the Chinese Embassy defied the court by refusing to attend the court gathering. On August 24, 2002, in the Ukraine, under pressure from the local Chinese Embassy, police officers interfered with Falun Dafa practitioners' exercise activities without providing any reason and detained 23 Falun Dafa practitioners who participated in the group exercises.
Jiang's group has gone to the point of even demanding to cancel Falun Dafa photo exhibitions. According to the original plan, the photo exhibition, "The Journey of Falun Dafa" was to be held in Cherkasy, Ukraine between May 24 and May 26. But during the preparation phase, officials from the Ukrainian National Security Department came to the exhibition hall. They asked that the photos showing the persecution in China not to be hung as per the request of the Chinese Embassy. Practitioners still decided to hang up all the photos. After practitioners did that, they left.
Jiang's group demanded that some countries deport Chinese Falun Gong practitioners who had attended peaceful demonstrations back to China. Through the Chinese Embassies and secret agents, they collected overseas Falun Gong practitioner's names and put them on their blacklist. They threatened overseas Falun Gong practitioners with death, harassed and wiretapped Falun Gong practitioners' telephones, and destroyed Falun Gong practitioners' property. All this immoral behavior seriously violates the civil rights of people in other countries. They refused to grant visas to the overseas Falun Gong practitioners who wanted to visit China, only because their names are in the blacklist. In June 2002, under pressures from the Chinese government, the Icelandic government used the blacklist provided by Jiang's group to reject at the border at least sixty Falun Gong practitioners from entering the country. On August 23, 2002, a four-day painting exhibition was held in Hong Kong. But on August 22, when the artist who created those paintings, Zhang Cuiying, arrived in Hong Kong she was refused entry. Even though there was never any official explanation from the government, we all know that the only reason is that Zhang Cuiying is a Falun Gong practitioner. The Hong Kong Immigration officials clearly are using this blacklist 24 hours a day every day. It is not, as some people declared, that it is only for security reasons during Jiang's visit that Hong Kong does not allow Falun Gong practitioners to enter Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, the notorious politically motivated trial of Falun Gong practitioners charged with obstruction of traffic on a public thoroughfare nullified the declaration of "one country, two systems for fifty years." Violating the U.N Refugee regulations, Jiang's evil group put pressure on the Cambodian government to deport Chinese citizens who were under the protection of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees back to China and put them into a labor camp.
This evidence shows that Jiang's evil group has expanded the Falun Gong persecution to include people in different places around the world. Because this persecution is a war without the smoke of gunpowder, people did not realize the harmfulness of this persecution. This is exactly another manifestation of its harmfulness: you get harmed without knowing it.
III. The Dirty Tricks that Jiang's Evil Regime Employs Worldwide to Spread the Evil Persecution against Falun Gong
A. Deceiving Innocent People with Lies
Jiang's evil group has not only used crafty lies and other ways to deceive people who did not know the truth about Falun Dafa. They also used different ways to trick different kinds of people. Here are two examples:
In the year 2001, right before the United Nations' Human Right Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, in an effort to defeat the motion made by the United States to pass a resolution condemning human rights violation in China, Jiang started the "million signatures campaign" against Falun Gong. According to his logic, since people speak of the "people's will" all the time, he just had to force one million people in China to sign a petition against Falun Gong. Jiang's evil group ordered elementary students to sign their names on the petition. In some cities, they forced people to sign their names by threatening to withhold payment of their pensions, fire them from their jobs, confiscate their apartments, and send them to reeducation (brain washing) sessions or even labor camps. Jiang's evil group tried to show the world that his evil persecution is the will of the Chinese people, and that it is actually he who is really safeguarding human rights.
The 107th US Congressional Joint Resolution 188 states that, "the Government of the People's Republic of China should cease its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners." This resolution was passed unanimously in Congress. The Chinese diplomat speaker who was controlled by Jiang's evil group said, "This resolution is against China and was supported only by a few congressional representatives in America." They whipped up national sentiments among Chinese people who did not see the voting results in Congress, because they live under a news blackout.
B. Threatening and Bribing with Politics, Trade, Tourism, and Espionage
In the mind of Jiang's regime, it seems that all Western and democratic countries are willing to let human rights issues in China take a back seat to economic interests to varying degrees.
The annual increase of the number of tourists from Mainland China to New Zealand has been, on average, around 34%. The number of visits exceeded 53,000 person-times last year. In 2002, an advertisement with the picture of a woman sitting in meditation and a slogan showing "The World needs Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance" at New Zealand's Auckland International Airport was removed due to threats from the Chinese embassy. The authorities claimed that the removal was due to complaints from Chinese tourists. In the evening of July 17, Paul Holmes, the host of "The Holmes Show," the highest rated TV program in New Zealand, interviewed some Falun Gong practitioners and the Chinese ambassador to New Zealand on his show. When Mr. Holmes asked the Chinese ambassador, "Why does the Chinese embassy demand the removal of such a peaceful advertisement which advocates Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance?" the ambassador refused to answer. Instead, he pointed his fingers to the host and kept on reading a statement slandering Falun Gong without even a pause, leaving the host with no way to get a word in edgewise.
In 1997, soon after a resolution condemning the Chinese communist party's repression of dissents and minorities had been passed in Denmark, the Chinese communist party canceled all trade contracts with Denmark. A year later, many European countries, including Denmark, became smarter. Australia, which has tried very hard to avoid being offensive to the Chinese Communist Party on the issues of human rights and Taiwan, has been rewarded by the Chinese Communist Party with the biggest single-item export contract in its history, which involved a liquefied natural gas contract worth up to 25 billion Australia dollars (equals to13.5 billion US dollars) with China over the next 25 years.
It is exactly these political and economic measures that Jiang's evil regime is employing that allow it to play with the democracy and freedom of certain countries at will. Human rights issues have taken a back seat to economic gains. The Human Rights Watch has pointed out in its 2001 World Report that, because the U.S. was not a member of the U.N. Human Rights Committee and the European Community was silenced by fear of losing trade and investment opportunities in Mainland China, for the first time no resolution was proposed regarding the human rights situation in Mainland China at this year's UN Human Rights conference in Geneva. Resolutions regarding China's human rights were snuffed out. History has also proven that no investment, approval of China's joining WTO or any other concessions from other countries can bring an improvement to China's human rights situation. China has, without exception, ignored all the International human rights treaties that it has signed.
IV. Together Let's Strive to Resist the Evil and End the Persecution against Falun Gong
Any formed partnership with evil is to connive and cooperate with the evil persecution. The former mayor of Sacramento, California, presently city council member, Bogosian, said, "The Chinese government's interference with US local government affairs is not acceptable. This is very similar to the Nazi government canvassing other countries for its repression against German citizens in the 1930s." Just like today's China, certain countries did not want to speak up against the atrocities of Nazi Germany in the 1930s as they had giant investments in Germany at the time. The temptation of self-interest has made us avoid problems and neglect what is happening under the fear of affecting trade activity in a new market. We should learn the lessons from the 1930's or we will have to pay for our mistakes in the future for turning a blind eye to these issues.
Before World War II broke out, Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, repeatedly connived with Hitler in the hope that a stronger Germany could confront the communist Soviet Union in the East. At the same time, after signing a non-aggression pact with Germany, Stalin and the Soviet Union stood by and watched Hitler's invasion of Eastern and then Western Europe, including conquering France and attacking England.
The Jiang regime's demented crackdown against Falun Gong is substantively the persecution of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, and the impeding results brought by persecuting a righteous faith are totally dreadful. Therefore, Jiang's persecution is not only a challenge to Western democracies, it is shaking the cornerstone of Western society and further dragging people all over the world into an abyss.
In Centuries VIII, Quatrain 14, Nostradamus stated,
"The great credit of gold and abundance of silver
will cause honor to be blinded by lust;
the offense of the adulterer will become known,
which will occur to his great dishonor."
People in today's society desire an overabundance of material things. The prophecy has warned that "the offense of the adulterer will become known,
which will occur to his great dishonor." Isn't this something we should look out for? It is also stated in Centuries VIII,
"The new school of philosophy prevails,
Above life, death, wealth and fame;
Even the Mount Deutsch could not stop the trend,
Millions of the followers echo to the swing of an arm."
In today's society with material desire overflowing, which philosophical school can achieve this? According to incomplete statistics, over the past three years the number of Falun Gong practitioners who have been tortured to death under this persecution has reached at least 459. More than one hundred thousand practitioners have been arrested and detained. Over twenty thousand people were sent to labor camps. Several thousand people have been forced into mental hospitals and injected with heavy dosages of drugs that destroy the central nervous system. In the face of such bloody repression, Falun Gong practitioners could have practiced at home in order to protect their own interests; however this would result in the people in the world having to endure the bitter result of their acquiescing to persecution of a righteous belief. In the past three years, Falun Gong practitioners have been continuously exposing the evil and promoting justice through various peaceful means regardless of the threat to their own life. Aren't the abuses endured and even sacrifices of the lives of Falun Gong practitioners during this savage persecution for the people of the world? How can this be regarded as an ordinary human rights issue? Can they accomplish all these things if this group of people does not disregard life or death, wealth, honor and fame? Can Falun Gong practitioners accomplish all these things if they do not hold firmly to their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance? The persecution of Falun Gong is actually the persecution against righteous belief!
Now that we know that the evil persecution is against the entire world, the persecution Falun Gong practitioners are enduring is for all the people in the world, and the results of any support or acquiescence from any countries or nations towards the evil persecution against the righteous belief are terrifying. What are we still hesitating about?
Let's try our best and work together in exposing and resisting the evil, and ending the persecution against Falun Gong by Jiang's evil regime as soon as possible. This is not just for the universal principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, but also for everyone himself. Stopping the persecution of Falun Gong by Jiang's regime is not only the common responsibility of every country in the world, but in doing so it also is protecting the fundamental interest of all the countries!
