Understandings on Cultivation: The Path of Heart

[PureInsight.org] After Fa-study and interaction with practitioners, I have the following understandings to share.

1. On the attachment of showing-off

Recently, a fellow practitioner came to tell me that his workplace’s computer had problems when starting up. A red line would show up when the computer was turned on. I thought that this could be a problem with the graphics card. Later, two practitioners who repair the computers both encountered this situation as well. I thought, “Why am I seeing so many of these cases?” After calming down, I discovered a strong attachment in myself to showing-off. Very often, my purpose was not to save sentient beings or validate the Fa, but to validate myself. After realizing this and letting go of the attachment, things started to improve.

2. Letting go of sentiment and being compassionate to everyone

As a Falun Dafa practitioner, we should be compassionate to everyone. Very often we have limited energy, time and resources, but this should not be an excuse for lacking kindness. I developed strong sentimentality towards my mother while growing up. I discovered that this notion affected me even in my Dafa work. For example, recently, several practitioners in our area were arrested. I began to notice that I paid more attention to an arrested female practitioner that I knew. A male practitioner who I also knew was arrested as well, but I did not pay much attention to him. When I realized this, I had much regret. How could this be the thought of a genuine practitioner? I immediately sent forth righteous thoughts to support all practitioners who had been arrested, including that male practitioner. We are one body, and we should not let evil recklessly persecute us.

3. We should cherish the relationship between practitioners, but not be attached to it.

As practitioners, no matter if we know each other or not, we have had many predestined relationships in history and at different levels. This is indeed very precious. On the other hand, if we are attached to this, it becomes very easy to be trapped in sentimentality, which will only serve to weaken our righteous thoughts and thus delay the salvation of sentient beings.

No matter what happened in previous generations, it has already come to pass. If we are unable to fulfill our historic missions today, all of these past happenings would become pointless anyway. Therefore, we need to treat everything with righteous thoughts.

These are my personal understandings. Please point out anything inappropriate.
