“Under any circumstance, in any period, and no matter how busy you are with your work, you can't stray from your Fa-study, as this is what fundamentally ensures that you'll continue to improve and reach Consummation…You must be a Dafa disciple doing Dafa work, because your Consummation is of primary importance. In the long river of human history and over the course of tens, even hundreds of lifetimes, human notions have gradually covered up our inborn nature. Today, we are so lucky to have obtained Dafa. If we cannot cleanse ourselves from time to time using the pure water of Dafa, we could unknowingly bring those acquired notions into Fa-rectification. Sometimes, we may even take those notions as ourselves, which allows our human side to restrain our divine side when encountering tribulations and may bring unnecessary loss to our Dafa work. Master Li once said, “If you can examine yourselves on every matter you come across, I’d say that you’re really remarkable and that nothing can impede you on your path to Consummation.” (“Lecture on the Fa at the Singapore Conference,” pre-publishing version)
In order to take us back home, our benevolent and great Master has told us all the Fa-principles that we should know. Why? If we think about it carefully, we would suddenly have a deeper understanding of Master Li’s benevolence.
When we do Dafa work, we should treat every dispute, every obstacle and every difficulty we meet seriously. We should diligently find the attachments that we need to get rid of. At the same time, we should realize that all of these obstacles are the chances that Master Li has arranged for us so that we can move towards Consummation. All disciples who truly cultivate can enlighten to this and act accordingly. Usually, when we mention Master Li, we all feel that Master Li is so benevolent. He has borne so much for us. If we can really realize Master Li’s benevolence, we should obey Master’s words and always rectify ourselves by really following the Fa’s requirements.
Letting go of life and death is a major pass. However, some of our own immoral thoughts still need to be eliminated in the course of validating the Fa. This is very crucial, but some disciples often neglect it. They think that since they already went to Tiananmen that they can slack off in their Fa-study. As a result, they suddenly feel that everything no longer goes smoothly and they encounter trouble both at home and outside. Then they start to search externally, completely forgetting that Master Li told us to search within whenever we meet with troubles. In this way, we too often lose chances arranged for us by Master for getting rid of our corrupt thoughts on the road towards Consummation.
As Dafa disciples, we should demand of ourselves that we act according to the principles of the Fa at all times and everywhere. Dafa disciples work and live among ordinary people, but we often don’t handle trivial things in our daily life very well. Why? I think that the major reason originates from emotional attachment. For example, we have good friends, relatives and even some fellow practitioners with whom we may take a break because of sentimentality or familiarity. When encountering small matters, some attachments that have not been given up are exposed. We become angry with each other, argue over something, talk about eating and drinking, engage in senseless gossip and so on. Emotional attachment really is a major obstacle that all of us have to overcome. Everything that happens around us is related to it. Master Li mentioned several times in his lectures, “cultivation is very serious.” If we could understand this thoroughly, we would treat our friends and relatives with the mind of a cultivator. We would take all conflicts with others as chances to upgrade our xinxing (mind-nature). Then, we will realize Master’s benevolence and will not fall short of his expectations. Otherwise, we may not pass the tests on some small matters, and we could hesitate on the road towards our original and highest position.
“Cultivation is your own affair, and nobody else can do it for you. The teacher can only, on the surface, tell you the laws and principles. It is your own responsibility to cultivate your heart, let go of your desires, attain wisdom, and eliminate confusion.” (“Determination,” Essentials For Further Advancement) Let us become true Fa particles. Let us deeply enlighten to Master’s benevolence, use Dafa to judge our every word and deed and let go of all that does not belong to us. At any time, when we encounter anything, we should look inside ourselves and completely let go of our selfishness. “I also want to tell you that your nature in the past was actually based on egotism and selfishness. From now on, whatever you do, you should consider others first, so as to attain the righteous Enlightenment of selflessness and altruism.” (“Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature,” Essentials For Further Advancement) Only by following Master can we return home.
