I have repeatedly found myself at an impasse when, while spreading Dafa and clarifying the truth, the question about the existence of gods came up. However, after diligently studying the Fa and reading experience-sharing articles, I have gradually gained some new understandings. I am here to share my understandings and ask corrections from fellow practitioners.
Modern human science puts forward methods through which one may confirm the existence or non-existence of an object. For example, there are many ways for one to prove that person A does exist. One way is to see person A with one’s own eyes. Another way is for person B to state that he saw A at a given location a month ago, assuming the B is truthful. Yet another way is to accept a written eyewitness record from C which states that he had seen A one thousand years ago during the Tang Dynasty at the capital, if person C’s record is deemed credible. But it is much harder to prove that person A does not exist. One would have to disprove that A cannot be seen with the physical eyes anywhere in this or outside this world. More broadly, one would have to demonstrate that A does not exist in any dimension, past or present or under any other time concept (even in a dimension where there is no concept of time). In short, to prove “existence” requires no more than one of the many ways as stated above. However, to prove “non-existence” involves the exhaustion of all probabilities. That is, one would have to eliminate all possible probabilities in all time-space dimensions before concluding the non-existence of an object. When they are asked what the term “gods” implies, even the atheist will think of beings who exist everywhere, are omnipotent and are beyond the “existence” of the dimension where we exist. At this time, human beings have yet to break through the present three-dimensional time-space. For any atheist or any group of atheists, when they openly conclude that gods do not exist, have they truly exhausted all the possibilities and “proven” this point? The answer is No.
Perhaps the discovery of microwaves and the usage of microwave ovens can open up the minds of some people. The story goes that U.S. army personnel discovered “microwaves” accidentally. One of the U.S. army engineers realized that whenever he passed an antenna that was operational, the sandwich in his pocket would heat up. It appears that the antenna had inadvertently functioned as a microwave oven. Thus, the heating effect of microwaves led to the discovery of microwaves. Though it is irrelevant that the sandwich was heated or not, what is important to understand is that microwaves have always existed. The existence of microwaves was only discovered by sheer accident and yet it let to the acceptance by humans of something formerly undetectable.
Then have gods and other dimensions “accidentally” revealed themselves on earth just like the “sandwich phenomenon” as mentioned above? In reality, there already have been eyewitness accounts of such phenomena, including the appearance of sages on earth, levitation in broad daylight, corpse extrication, light transformation, eye witness accounts of dragons, mirages, time tunnels and so on. Those who are indifferent may regard these incidents as “natural phenomena” and discount them. However, those with predestined relationships may know the truth of such phenomena and establish righteous beliefs and viewpoints.
The wavelengths of microwaves are too short to be seen with human eyes. Yet humans believe that microwaves do exist. No one would put to doubt a microwave oven because it is a modern convenience. Yet, on the issue of the existence of gods, one is in doubt and does not wish to verify it, simply because it seems to have no effect to one’s life. But in reality, it is closely related to your eternal soul and eternity. Mythologies and religions, passed down from ancient times, have acknowledged that although gods cannot be seen with the physical eye, they do exist. In short, gods do not exist in our physical dimension, thus they are invisible to life in this dimension. Expounding on the idea of the existence of gods, one can extrapolate to the existence of other life forms, i.e., “aliens.” We can firmly state that these “aliens” view us as clearly as we view “fishes in a fish tank,” while we see them as through a haze. If we know that gods are not in this dimension yet we deny the existence of gods because they cannot be physically observed in this dimension, this argument only reveals our incredible arrogance and ignorance. Here are two examples that help make our point. 1) A person lost something in the dark and only searched for it in the vicinity of the streetlights and therefore did not find it. When asked why s/he did not search beyond the streetlights s/he responded: “Because that’s where the light was. Everywhere else was dark.” 2) Russian astronauts claimed that since they did not see gods in outer space, gods do not exist. We believe that both examples state the same theory, “what we cannot see, does not exist.”
Those who do not believe in the existence of gods may ask you to come up with a concrete, physical example that is sufficient to “prove” the existence of Gods. Yet, cultivators and religious believers understand that such proof cannot be granted to those that have fallen into this “maze,” as life in this dimension grants the opportunity to cultivate and enlighten to the truth. However, as an answer, one may put a sandwich in front of an antenna or in a microwave and explain the significance of such an act and the relevance with respect to the existence of gods.
If someone who is enlightened tells you that gods do exist and also provides you with a method to validate the fact, would you want to believe him and give it a try? If you are not willing to do so and stubbornly and blindly deny the existence of gods, then that is your own problem. In reality, this enlightened being who has told us this is among us. His way of validating the existence of gods is the Falun Dafa cultivation way. Since the beginning of the human civilization, gods and Buddhas have revealed the heavenly secrets again and again. There is a common saying, “One may be given one or two chances, but not the third or the fourth chance.” Gods and Buddhas are merciful, and have repeatedly come down to earth to save people. In this cycle of civilization, this has happened at least four times already.
People, please wake up to the truth!
