[PureInsight.org] Have you ever seen heavenly maidens throwing beautiful flowers about? Have you ever listened to heavenly melodies? Recently in India the famous Falun Gong Marching Band, also called the Divine Band, awed local audiences there. The Divine Band is made up of Falun Gong practitioners from Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. The band was invited to perform during the opening ceremony of the 1st World Parliament of Spirituality in the city of Hyderabad, India, in December 2012. Many local people went to see the show and were very surprised to see such a huge production team. When the music started, people stood still and listened intensively. People were amazed by the melodious music and by the beautiful women dressed in ancient Chinese dress while handing out lotus flowers. Some of the band members also performed a Falun Gong exercise demo, and the audiences were simply mesmerized.
Hyderabad is India’s fourth most populated city. It is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the central part of the country and has more than 400 years of history. Currently the city’s population has reached nearly seven million. Many global as well as local technology companies have set up their headquarters or research centers there.
Mr. Hong, the Divine Band director and a Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioner, said to reporters: “We are all very happy to come here to attend this meeting. This is the first worldwide spiritual leaders’ conference, and it’s an honor to have been invited to participate in the opening ceremony. We’ve got 161 band members from many countries, and every one of us is very happy. We hope it will help better promote Falun Gong in India.”
When asked by journalists about the Falun Gong band, an Indian Falun Gong practitioner said: “We’ve never seen such an event in the whole history of Hyderabad. The Falun Gong band carries with it a very high moral principle—Truth, Compassion, Forbearance. Many people started to love the band once they listened to its music. I firmly believe that there will be many more people here in the city that will start to learn Falun Gong.”
The Divine Band also made a performance at the Global Peace Auditorium in the city. When the members of the band were entering the building, they were met with local girls dressed up in traditional Indian dress. These local girls spread beautiful flower petals all over the band members to show their sincere welcome. After the show, the event sponsor was very excited to present an award to the Divine Band in gratitude for the band’s arrival and superb performance.
One local resident said: “This is an Indian tradition. When people come over from other countries, we will spread flowers on them to show our welcome, we will treat such people just the same as Indian people.”
Another local resident said: “I am very surprised to see such a huge band. Everyone here likes the music—it’s really marvelous. I just hoped that I could keep listening to it and the music would never end.”
Later on, the Divine Band made another performance at the local cultural center. Many people gathered to see the band, and they too were very delighted to hear the music and eager to learn about Falun Gong and the ongoing persecution in China. When the performance ended, lots of people asked to take photos with the band, especially with the women giving out the beautiful lotus flowers.
