One Must be Single Minded in all Aspects of Cultivation

A Dafa Disciple in Mainland China

[PureInsight.org] Master said in Zhuan Falun, “If you want to practice cultivation, you must practice only one cultivation way. Otherwise, you cannot practice cultivation at all. Of course, if you do not want to practice cultivation, we will leave you alone. This Fa is taught only to those genuine practitioners. Therefore, one must be single-minded in only one practice, and even ideas from other practices should not be intermingled. I do not teach mind activities here; there is no mind activity in our Falun Dafa. Thus, no one should add to it any thought. Be sure to keep this in mind: There is virtually no mind activity. The Buddha School requires emptiness, and the Tao School teaches nothingness.”

I have currently enlightened to the following from the above Fa: One must be absolutely single-minded in cultivation – we cannot be distracted, and must be single-minded. When doing the exercises or sending forth righteous thoughts, I had not met this requirement. My mind is very active and I would constantly think about all sorts of things: things from the past, things from the present, things I’ve fantasized about, ruminations of things in cultivation, etc. Sometimes, even things that others unintentionally say will stir up such postnatal notions. As these various flights of thought crop up, the purpose is to prevent me from having a quiet mind in cultivation, as well as to indulge these evil spirits’ “addiction” to thinking. In actuality, it is the evil controlling the bad factors in my thought karma to act in my dimensional field, which in turn causes my main consciousness to be weak, prevents me from being single-minded in my practice, and prevents me from having undivided attention in sending forth righteous thoughts. Although on the surface my hand is erect and straight; although my lotus hand position may look open and pretty, in my thoughts I am constantly ruminating, thereby wasting this valuable time to send forth righteous thoughts as one body.

When these disruptions prevent one from achieving calmness and cultivating with one mind, we are essentially not cultivating at all. My exposing these today is part of my final process of eliminating them, and also to adhere myself to absolute single-mindedness in my practice.

We must be single minded in cultivation; we cannot mix other things into our practice, and we cannot indulge in our fantasies. If we do that, we will not have met the standard for being single minded in our practice. We must concentrate when sending forth righteous thoughts, and cannot be interfered with by stray thoughts, otherwise we would not have met the standard for being single-minded. When we study the Fa, we must concentrate. Likewise, we must concentrate in using rational, righteous thoughts when clarifying the truth, and only then can we save more people. When being single-minded, we can accomplish twice the work with half the effort.
