Carry The Torch
For all the tears in China
the crimes behind its walls
for the right of human dignity
and every heart together we call -
Come carry the torch
let the truth shine far and wide
to light the darkest hour
to turn this silent tide.
Carry the torch to keep the flame alive...
For the promise of a brighter future
precious lives still to be saved
for the right of human liberty
with every heart together we say -
Come carry the torch
let the truth sound far and wide
to lift our voices loud
to turn this silent tide.
Come carry the torch
to turn this silent tide
Carry the torch to keep the flame alive.
The Flame
We carry the flame
the torch of truth
for every heart to shine.
For the sanctity of life
and our humanity
freedom for all confined.
A light in the distance
another tide turning
the promise of brighter days.
From behind China's doors
a*'party' falling
its crimes and ruthless ways.
Where the world awakens
our rights reclaimed
new horizons, yours and mine.
We carry the flame
the torch of truth
for every heart to shine.
(These poems inspired by the "human
rights torch relay" - a global initiative to raise awareness of the
ongoing persecution against Falun Gong practitioners and other
prisoners of conscience in the lead up to the 2008 Olympic Games).
