Only when amidst
the darkest of nights
can one see
the brightest of stars
only when nearest
our destined shores
can we see oceans
widest and afar.
Only when awakening
to being lost in the maze
can one hear
the homecoming call
only when embracing
the heart's ascent
can we see the world
fading until its fall.
Only when bearing
this relentless winter
can one long
for a timeless spring
only when feeling confined
by all worldliness
can we seek
the more boundless things.
