No Second Chance to Save People

[PureInsight.org] Recently, I studied “Dafa Disciples Must Study the Fa” repeatedly before realizing that the opportunity for a life to be rescued may only come once. There is no second chance.

Master said, “But do you realize something? Those who were originally meant to have been saved last year [by Shen Yun, but didn’t go], have lost the opportunity forever. That’s because Fa-rectification is unceasingly forging ahead, step by step, and when it arrives at one cosmic plane it is time for that level of people; when it reaches a certain heavenly kingdom above, or a certain layer of cosmic body, it is time for that group of people to come see [the show], and next time around [when Shen Yun performs], that seat will belong to someone else. Do you realize how many lives have been lost?! Do you know how I feel when I see those empty seats in the theater?”

What Master said was clear enough. However, I am blocked by my human attachments, which makes me insensitive to saving people. When I study Master’s Fa, I comprehend it in a way of keeping with my notions, instead of having an insight into Fa principles. I have missed many chances for saving sentient beings, but I have been inspired by reading a fellow practitioner’s article, “Can’t Wait to Save People,” in Minghui Weekly (No. 510).

Many people today are originally higher beings who dared drop down to the earth waiting to be saved by Dafa disciples. Moreover, some of them may have only one chance to meet Dafa Disciples. They may forever lose the opportunity of being saved after missing the chance.

For many years Master has been emphasizing the importance of Dafa disciples working for the salvation of people, and I often talk of saving more people when sharing my experiences with fellow cultivators. But in respect to the path of cultivation and Fa-rectification, how many people have I saved? How have I fulfilled my duty for saving them? Looking back, I feel ashamed. Over the years, I’ve acted insensitively toward saving people.

To get to the root of the problem, I found too many attachments and an insufficient understanding of the Fa. The first problem is fear. I’m usually afraid of getting into trouble when clarifying the truth if I talked too long. I would always utter only a few words to encourage people to quit the Party and clarify the truth about Falun Gong. As a result of my hasted caused by my attachment of fear, the truth wasn’t clarified clearly. Moreover, I dared not speak when many people were around.

The second problem was that I did not really grasp the solemnity of saving sentiment beings. I did not really understand the consequences of a life, who dared to drop to earth with the expectation of being saved, losing this opportunity. Neither did I realize how regretful I would be for not fulfilling the mission of saving beings when the truth is disclosed in the future.

The third concern was the attachment of reliance on others. I deemed that fellow cultivators would open their mouths, while I need not, leaving the difficult task to them. (Actually, my attachment caused the difficulty.) Recalling the times I did do Fa-rectification work, I would leave the difficult and thorny work to my fellow practitioners, while I chose an easy or more favorable task. This was due to an attachment of reliance on others, as well as the longing for comfort.

The fourth point was the attachment of thinking highly of “saving face.” I clarify the truth and save people because Master said so. Hence, I must do it. As a matter of fact, I don’t really cultivate compassion from the Fa, not fully thinking of saving lives. Sometimes I focus more on maintaining my own reputation, instead of saving people.

These fundamental attachments were a serious hindrance for my saving people. After finding the causes, I began to study the Fa and worked on reducing my attachments, suppressing various bad thoughts. After combining Fa-study with true cultivation, I found attachments such as eagerness, getting angry easily, and not being broad-minded when being right, gradually decrease. My compassion towards saving lives gradually increased. I’m really glad in my mind after seeing a life being saved.

Master said in “Teaching the Fa at the 2003 Atlanta Fa Conference,” “Also, with those people that you run into by chance, who you run into in daily life, and the people you run into at work, you should all clarify the truth to them. Even when in your daily life you pass by people so quickly that you don't have a chance to talk to them, you should still leave them with your compassion and kindness. Don't lose those who should be saved, especially those with predestined connections.”

Now I realize more the inner meaning of the Fa-principles that Master spoke about. This predestined opportunity to save sentient beings may only come once. Let’s have a good handle on studying Fa and capitalize on all opportunities to save people. Let’s shoulder the responsibility for the lives of others, as well as for our own cultivation.
