In Zhuan Falun, Master Li said, “…the fundamental reason for one's being unable to achieve tranquility is not an issue of techniques, but that your mind and heart are not clean.” The state of tranquility is not something we can immediately achieve. Nor can it be reached by seeking outside ourselves. All practitioners have experienced that as they progress in cultivation, their sitting practice naturally becomes more tranquil.
Sometimes, while sitting in meditation, I find I am seeking to become tranquil, and cannot become tranquil. As soon as I let go of this pursuit I find myself becoming very tranquil. I find that the wish to attain tranquility does not come from myself. It is an external notion. In the state of tranquility it seems odd that I ever looked outside myself.
Even the pursuit of progress in cultivation is an attachment. The only way to ascend in cultivation is to improve one's xinxing, to let go of all attachments.
The same principle applies regarding sending forth righteous thoughts. This is not something we can seek outside ourselves. Isn't sending forth of righteous thoughts a reflection and manifestation of our attainment in cultivation and our xinxing? If one is righteous, and one's heart is within the Fa, then one's righteous thoughts will be strong, pure and powerful. If one is not righteous, how could one send forth powerful righteous thoughts using some method? Practitioners come from different levels. All have different xinxing levels and are at different stages of cultivation. It is only natural that the effects of our sending forth righteous thoughts are different, and that the thoughts themselves differ from person to person.
Master said that we should just think with “true thoughts” when sending forth righteous thoughts. One's true thoughts can be neither humanly created nor pursued. They cannot be affected by anything. They are like diamonds. We do not need to artificially make our thinking righteous. The wishes to eliminate the evil that attacks Dafa and to rectify the Fa are not artificially created. They are the most pure, indestructible wishes of our original true self.
