[PureInsight.org] A carefully designed composition is highly emphasized in photography. What is the reason for such an emphasis?

A well-balanced composition creates a decent, graceful feeling. Beauty and grace both make the audience feel pleasant, but grace is a more elevated feeling than beauty. Looking at a graceful image will help regular and balance the human brain. A graceful painting will not stimulate the feeling of lust. It can rectify the audience's thoughts and mind.

In the classical western paintings, the artists make special efforts to design each painting's composition, similar to the way an architect will cautiously draw a blueprint before actually constructing a building. In ancient times, people's morality level was higher and they were in a more harmonious frame of mind. Hence, the classical artworks are more graceful. In those days righteous thoughts governed the entire society. Social ideology sat on the pyramid of the society hierarchy and led people's thoughts, speech and actions.

Each photograph selected for the photograph exhibit, "For a Higher Truth: A Photographic Tale of Falun Dafa's Principled Resistance," went through a very careful selection process and some photographs were cropped to attain better composition. It is our objective is to pursue grace and dignity in the form. Although not every photograph has the best composition, they are artworks created by Falun Gong practitioners' Fa tools. They are artworks supported and reinforced by the Fa. They are more than photographs. When these photographs were presented at the art exhibits worldwide, they will be able to rectify the human thoughts and human mind. In the epic battle between the righteous and the evil, these photographs will lay out a giant righteous field that is capable of eliminating the evil and rectifying the world's people's ideology.

The theme of this photograph is a formation of Chinese characters. The giant character formed in this photograph is "righteous." It was taken when Falun Gong practitioners in the formation were sending forth righteous thoughts. The theme is very obvious. The photographer used a zigzag composition to bring out the magnitude and the power of the giant formation. The only drawback is that the horizon is a little tilted, making the photograph a little visually unstable. In other words, it is not "righteous" enough. Composition is very precise work. One can tell whether the camera is tilted by an inch and whether the camera was stable when the photograph was shot. Strictly speaking, this photograph's composition is slightly imperfect and slightly imperfect does not cut it. Because it is a professional photographer who took this photograph, we expect more from him.
