[PureInsight.org] I was sleeping soundly when a phone call woke me. I looked at the time; it was 3am. “Who was calling me so early?” I wondered. It was my old classmate Hong Yun. He was a retired vice mayor. I had told him about Falun Gong before the persecution had started, but he had only given superficial acknowledgement. When I clarified the truth to him after the persecution had begun, he had always repeated the CCP’s slander from the media. When I saw him a few days ago, he had already retired and was back at home. When I clarified the truth to him again, he seemed to be able to accept some of it. I gave him Zhuan Falun and told him, “You cannot just listen to what’s broadcast on television. You should see what Falun Gong has to say.”
When I picked up the phone, Hong Yun was ecstatic and stuttered as he spoke. He yelled out my name and said, “I’ve been reading the book and couldn’t hold back any longer from calling you! Zhuan Falun is written so well! I regret it so much that I didn’t read it until now. Who is Li Hongzhi? How does he explain things so well? I think he’s even qualified to be the chairman.” I was still pretty drowsy from sleep, so I was just listening to him talk. After he’d said this much, I interrupted, “You haven’t finished it yet have you? Falun Gong is not involved in politics…” He interrupted me, “I only wanted to express the sentiment. The CCP chairmen couldn’t speak as well as Teacher Li.”
The next day the phone rang again at the same time. It was Hong Yun again and he was just as ecstatic as before. “This Falun Gong is too good. The principles are explained in such an easy way to understand. I now know why the CCP wanted to burn Falun Gong books. Anyone can understand Zhuan Falun. But even though it’s easily understandable, the meaning behind it is extremely profound. Teacher Li must be very knowledgeable! If Gods and Buddhas exist, then teacher Li must be a great Buddha! What he lectures on is the Buddha Fa!”
When people truly understand the truth and the reason why people have come to Earth, the excitement comes from somewhere deep inside their hearts. Hong Yun is an example. After reading the book, he wanted to learn the exercises. After learning the exercises, he looked everywhere for Falun Gong practitioners to share with. When he reads Falun Gong books, he reads them well past midnight and if still not tired, he sometimes takes out his broom and sweeps the village streets.
Then the villagers wake up to find that the roads have been swept. At first, they didn’t really notice, but later they realized that the roads had been swept clean every single day. Eventually, people found out that Hong Yun had been sweeping the streets before dawn every day. Some people asked him, “Have you been sweeping these streets every day?” Hong Yun would blush and reply, “Don’t worry about who’s been sweeping these streets. When someone reads the Falun Gong books, they would do the same.” These words really confused some villagers.
Hong Yun came to me and asked, “How should I reply when people ask me why I sweep the streets every day? If I want to say I swept them, Falun Gong says to let go of the attachment to fame. What is done is done. I really do not want people to know. But if I don’t tell them, they still seem to already know that I’m the one who’s been sweeping the streets.” I told him, “Cultivators don’t ponder about such things. If people know then they know. We should just go with the flow of things. But Falun Gong is currently under persecution. As a result, many people have been deceived by the CCP’s lies and don’t understand Falun Gong. Then we can tell them that we do this because we started cultivating in Falun Gong. Isn’t this validating Dafa?” He said, “I understand. If anyone asks me in the future, I will tell them that I’m the one who swept the streets. I will also tell them that I am a Falun Gong cultivator.”
